I am older and disabled. Yesterday the cashier who checked me out… Told me she was, “here for me!“ And did everything to make my experience pleasant and accessible. I didn’t catch her name but she was working registered nine at 11 AM on February 5, 2024. Management, please take note. This kind of service is rare and much appreciated.

Kinda harsh but it needs to be said. To be fair I’m getting pretty fed up with every Walmart I go to. I’m used to some of the self checkouts always being broken and being unable to use them because I usually have cash but tonight ALL of them are broken. No cash. Then they have only one poor cashier out here cashing out everyone else who has cash. Which is 10+ people long with carts FULL. There’s 3 employees standing at the self checkout. Is Walmart no longer training their employees to cashier? Is the obsession with the self checkouts and card payments that deep? You’ll train your employees to stand and watch the self checkouts but won’t train them to actually do a cashier job? This isn’t a problem with the employees. This is a problem with corporate. They don’t care about their employees and they definitely don’t care about their customers. Their employees are obviously overworked and undertrained and they get away with it because of course it’s the only place you can get your necessities. It’ll only get worse too. We’d be better off building a different store that can receive cash and train their employees to click around on a screen. I’ve been able to type this review, go outside to smoke, and come back in and the line has yet to move. 15 minutes in the same spot and counting.

Last week I came before work to check out clothes. I wandered around aimlessly for a goo 20 min and asked 4 workers who could open the fitting room. It wasn't until the last person that they actually told me no one is there for the fitting room until later in the day.Today, I came to get a new Vinyl that released last night. It wasn't on the shelf so I asked if they could look out back. She was obviously annoyed, tried to tell me they dont do that "if that makes sense." I said no, it doesnt, and asked if they could look again. She disappeared for maybe 30 seconds and came back and was facing the shelves again. I just kind of stood there awkwardly and shes like, oh, yeah, I couldn't find it. Something tells me she didnt bother to check. Waste of a trip both times. It's retail, the job isn't that hard. A little customer service would be nice every now and then.

They lock the doors early. Don't waste your time if you go close to closing time. They truly close at 10:54 and decline customer entry. I was told that I could try to sneak in while people come in "but they were probably watching". I told them I wouldn't create a stir and fight about it even though the advertised hours are till 11 and I only needed two things. I'll just take my business elsewhere from now on. It's unfortunate that a business won't allow patrons to come in during advertised business hours, and if you truly don't allow entry after a certain time you should advertise that before wasting my gas money since that is different then when you truly close.

Numerous changes over a couple years that has led to a decrease in satisfaction in numerous ways, all those cash registers that are unattended forcing everyone in the store to self checkout and wait in a line that shouldn't exist and the 24/7 open hours used to be a thing I don't see why it can't be done again

They actually opened up more cashier points when they got backed up,which was really good as I don't used self check out. I don't like having to check myself out and have someone check my bags. If you have someone to inspect it,you have someone to check it out.

This store DOES NOT update their stock accurately!! I checked website and app before I ever went. I get there, I can't find the item I'm looking. I find an employee who says it is out of stock and she knows she doesn't have any in her bins. If people have to go out in bad weather, it would be nice to be able to purchase items needed! Shame on you Shelbyville Walmart!

Waited at the watch display, finally got someone who found that the ONLY person who had a key was in a meeting. No clue how long the meeting would last. Did some shopping...decided that I had better things to do. Walked out w/o anything. Only ONE person had a key? Well, there are plenty of places to buy a cheap watch. Bad business!

No one is ever working it seems, or if so I don't know where their hiding, never have enough lanes open, can't ever find anyone to help or if you do their aggravated your taking them away from what their doing. I've been calling for days trying to get someone to pick up in jewelery still haven't been successful at that. This place needs a new head person in charge because whoever is isn't managing very well.

Yes I was there today an as I was leaving there was a grocery cart with a infant car seat in it no there wasn't a child in it but I reported it to a manager but he didn't seem to concerned here are some pictures

So dirty. The workers were sitting on the self checkout on their phones. No one cared about customers or the service. Seemed like all the employees were very young. Never again will I go to this establishment.

Always find what I need and honestly have going to several different stores & pick walmart over other bc I know I can find all I need there. The only thing is sometimes there's not a lot of cashiers open, but thankful for the self checkout ones! Not sure why our prices here in town are always a bit higher than other walmarts like once they start clearance here they take forever to bring it down or almost never do and in other you find clearance bottom dollar almost everytime.

There are never any registers open and majority of the time there are employees just standing around instead of hopping on a register and getting lines down. Do Better Walmart! This is exactly why this store has the worst store rating

Shelbyville location is clean and well laid out. Produce is fresh and well attended to. Well stocked shelves. Large entertainment area. Pet supplies are plentiful. Easy access to self checkout at both entrances of the store. A nice local hamburger joint serves up a high quality product quickly and brings it to your table or ready for carryout. Pleasant atmosphere. Well placed specials. Friendly helpful staff. Easy entrances and exists to get you in and out of the store to make it easy to get there and return home without traffic gridlock.

My kid accidentally dropped a bouncy ball she had in her hands and this employee walks up to us and tells us to quit letting her bounce the ball in the store. I dont appreciate being told what to do especially when I did tell my child not to bounce the ball in the store and she said okay. Tell your employees that they don't get payed to parent our kids. Especially over something she accidentally did. It's like the employees just look for an opportunity to say something to people. They should be saying hello can I help you? And I would have apologized and told her the ball slipped out of her hand. But I didn't because she didn't bother to greet us or anything. I'm not usually a Karen but I don't appreciate employees trying to parents our kids. If it was really an issue she could have had a manager handle it. But it wasn't an issue, she just felt like being the bouncy ball police I guess.
