It’s a nice enough place to eat but the bbq selections poor in quality. The wait staff good and helpful. Judy had a half rack of ribs. Half wreck more like it. Way over cooked and dry. Zero smoke flavor. Rub so thinly applied it added no flavor. Just like you stuck ribs in the oven for a hour and served them — I’m talking no smoke. I had brisket which was also over cooked and dry. Slight smoke flavor but it took a swig of liquid to get most bites down. Of the sides, the baked sweet potato best but drowning in butter. Baked beans drowning in sugar with a cardamom note that seemed strange until I tried the bbq sauce that had the same odd flavor. Cole slaw ok. Fries ok. I’d say go here and you’ll get a nice meal as long as you stay away from the bbq.

I was in town to visit my parents over the weekend (Thanksgiving weekend at that!). Phenomenal service and easy check-in. Super cozy ambience and accommodations! I was extremely satisfied with my stay. Housekeeping went above and beyond to take care of me, even though I was a solo traveler. Their gift shop (with tackle shop), deli, and restaurant downstairs was very nostalgic. I hope to stay here again!

This little jewel is a wonderful find. Atmosphere is darling. General Store, Frosty Mug, Outpost all great places. The Outpost is the restaurant. Food was outstanding. I had the Philly-Steak. It was hot, fresh and very flavorful. Fries were unique. Wonderfully fried. Pricing was less than you would expect. Don’t hesitate, run to The Outpost.

Breakfast mid-morning on Saturday. Didn’t have to wait to be seated. The food was good and reasonably priced. I personally didn’t enjoy the coffee but to each their own. I ordered off the menu but they also had a small breakfast buffet. The biscuits were good but nothing over the top the country ham and omelette was well prepared. The staff was not pleasant or engaging during our breakfast. Very short in personality. Maybe just a bad day. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a country store near the checkout.

Before even walking into the restaurant, the smells of smoked meats greeted us. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. We ordered the sampler, which included 3 cheese sticks, 3 fried ravioli, 3 Buffalo wings, 4 southern egg rolls, and 2 dipping sauces. Everything was delicious, especially the southern egg rolls that we've never heard of. My guy ordered the big boy combo (not sure of the exact name). It had half a slab of ribs, half of a chicken, heaping pile of pulled pork, seasoned waffle fries, and corn on the cob, for $29. I had an Italian sandwich with French Fries for $11. Everything was full of wonderful flavors and cooked just right. It was a great experience.

First time eating there. Normal Friday night crowd per the couple we were with. Wait time for food was reasonable given the crowd. Food was good. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. Piano playing in the background was a plus. The buildings themselves are worth a look including a general store and soda fountain where you can get ice cream.

Little bit of history behind this hidden gem. If there is a short wait, it's definitely worth the wait and wondering around the property and visiting the little stores and wood carving. Go see the watermill and creek. The old bait shop is still part of the business and preserved as much as possible while making this a rustic, fun, good food and atmosphere place to visit. Try the creamery while there too but only if you didn't have the desserts and have room 😉

The Outpost is great, i really enjoyed it. The food was good. And we did not have to wait very long for it to be served. The service was top notch. The waitresses were all very nice, did a great job. Everyone there was very friendly. While you wait there are lots of things to see all around you.. I can't wait to go back!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. When we first got there there was the cutest blonde haired little girl who took us to our table and got our menus for us. Just guessing i'd say she was probably about 4-5 yrs old. She was adorable and she also did a great job !

A great place. Very unique, and very well done. One of a kind. The food was perfect, and prices were very low for great quality and service. The dinning area is great. They also have take out, and you can eat outside if you prefer. Definitely check it out. For the same prices as low quality fast food (McDonald's or BK) you get excellent food, and a lot more. We had dinner, got fishing licenses, lures, candles, and pastries to bring home. They display and sell art. Such as carvings that are amazing and also priced lower than one would expect. Some amazing carvings are also built in to the experience. Well done Guys. These are the types of businesses I like to support, and let people know about.

Great place with several buildings and dining options. Stopped in for a snack and we both ordered the ribs. What a surprise! The ribs were tender, juicy, great smokey flavor. The smokers out from were smoking when we pulled in, the aroma was amazing. There is a lot to this place and it's a nice scenic setting, it's definitely worth a stop!

Charming stop near Pickwick with fast service and great food. Brisket plate with sweet potato fries and slaw. Brisket was tender and tasty. The fries were good but more limp than I like. Excellent Cole slaw that was crisp, not soggy, and mildly seasoned just right. My view was lush, green and reminiscent of the old Tennessee - inspiring Christian music was playing. We need more restaurants like The Outpost. There is also a gift shop with candy, drinks, t-shirts, candles and fish bait 😄 Took pics of other buildings around restaurant.

We love eating here! The huge windows across the back width of the dining area looking into the picturesque woods, with the rustic log cabin design of the restaurant make for a tranquil and idyllic meal.Everything we've tried on the menu has been tasty, and well prepared and presented. The shops connected to the restaurant are a nice stroll after lunch. We always leave with something new.I don't think you can go wrong here. We drive an hour to visit. Great!

The Outpost is a great place to eat. Nice atmosphere and good food. My only complaint is - when we first walked in, we waited to be seated. After standing there for a few minutes, I tried to get someone's attention, but everyone was rushing around and ignoring me, even after making eye contact. I finally managed to get a young lady to respond. I asked if we could get a table, she said she'd get the hostess. A few minutes later the hostess arrived and we were promptly seated. Everything else was fine, the food arrived fast and our waitress was very attentive.Parking: Parking is limited.Kid-friendliness: The hostess thought my grandson was cute & put up with his silliness.

Beautiful location! The food is just amazing and the service is beyond perfect!!!!! Thank you Leeann for making this 1st time experience one to remember. I definitely can’t wait to come back to try lunch and dinner. In case anyone was wondering I am from Pa and was here to go see the Shiloh battlefield. This place was recommended by one of the local sheriffs who was kind enough to give us directions on where to get breakfast. And what a recommendation! Thank you to the sheriff.

Awesome place! Sky high prices! I love the place but will never spend a penny here. When you see the prices you'll know this is a special kind of greed. It's ridiculous to spend this much on a dish you can get for half the price anywhere else. I really hate to give a negative review. This place would be awesome if they considered their prices. They are making a fortune off of the tourists. What a shame...
