Went and volunteered here for a couple of days and it was so nice! The workers there are so so good to the animals always talking to them and loving on them! So sad to see how many of these precious babies are abused by people who don't deserve to own an animal. If I had the room I would adopt every single one of these babies! I fell in love with all of them but 2 really caught my heart! Joey a German Shepard who was the sweetest ever and buzz I'm not sure what kind of dog he was but he is precious! If you ever have free time, call them and ask about coming in and volunteering for a couple of hours. I really didn't know what all went on inside of the shelter but I have a whole different outlook and respect for the ones who are there caring for these abused, sick, and stranded animals! You definitely have respect for the ones behind the scene doing the care for the cats and dogs there! You can also donate food, blankets, toys, towels, washing detergent, dish washing liquid, bowls just anything that could help them out! Thank you!! ❤️ I am going to add 2 photos of Joey and Buzz so you all can see just how precious these 2 are!

Very friendly and inviting staff. Animals are being well taken care of consistently. I began walking the dogs today on the walking path high school students created and I must say they did an awesome job! I'm not good with taking pics but here is a beautiful girl around a year old ready for adoption who sat when I asked on the walking path I mentioned. Go visit and find your new furry friend!

Got multiple dogs running thru neighborhood multiple calls and multiple people have called and animal control claims they gave them a week to find somewhere well its been months and nothing they are still running the neighborhood and chasing people and animals I don't know why we pay them if they can't even do a simple job but they can ride around wasting tax payers money

Found a cat that had kittens took them in for a few days. Called animal shelter about finding them home. They said tough luck they are your cats now?? They dont rescue anything. This place is a joke and wouldnt donate or adopt from there. Truly heartless group of people that put a persona that they actually care about animals.

Was a nice and cozy building. Staff were polite and eager to get you to the animals your looking for. Make sure that if you currently have pets that they are fully up to date on vaccines or you will not be able to take them home.

I would give them zero stars if I could. They are a bunch of nasty liars! DO NOT ADOPT FROM THESE DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE. We went there on Saturday to adopt a dog and was told we couldn't yet because she had to be fixed first but the application we put in woould hold her. Was told we could get her today. Found out today she was adopted by someone else and told they don't do holds. I will never be back there and truly hope they have the day they deserve. Horrible people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting calls and early morning visits that are uncalled for just because a neighbor doesn’t like that my guard dog is in a covered kennel. Tired of it all when I am meeting guidelines.. Dogs at large should be a priority!!

Everyone at the shelter is very sweet. They seem generally concerned about their animals, and work hard to find all the animals a forever home. Was very impressed with the facility. All the animals had food and water, and the cages where very clean, as well as there was no overbearing smells. Which is a awesome. Truly shows they stay on top of things. We are happy with our adoption, and look forward to adopting again from this shelter.

We decided to add an addition to our family by getting our son a new best friend. The facility was well maintained and the staff were all great. We did this during the peak covid scare and they really did great with their social distancing . Our new family member was well taken care of and was definitely showed some love while there. Thank you for all the things y’all do and keep it up!

My son called on Saturday to set up appointment to see a certain dog. He was told the pups were sick so my son told the gentleman he would wait until this morning and was told perfect. We called this morning to confirm the pup was ok and was told they had let someone else get the pup. No curtesy call, nothing. What kind of people does that? They want you to donate and help them. That will never happen. I’ll be sure to let everyone know what kind of people they are. They deserve -10 stars

Terrible treatment by staff. Without even stepping foot into the building. Heartbreaking. We were set on adopting from here. Sad that these animals lose out on a forever home because of the way they treat people. Do better.

I went there recently to possible adopt a pet. The person showing me around was very nice and informed. With that said, the place was filthy and filled with the worst stench. I realize the nature of the facility brings with it a smell, but I’ve volunteered at the East TN Humane Society in Knox as well as visited many other shelters and NONE were even close to being this bad.

My experience with this place was AWFUL. Just last year I volunteered my time to freely help them. I did all the work they just told me what to do (I did their job while they got paid for it) today I went there just under an hour ago to look for a cat/kitten and they were so rude, especially the receptionist, that I didn't stay even 10 minutes. The receptionist was rude and so snobby. She has a funny acent though I didn't get her name. She was very rude to my mother. And I don't know why they wanted to pick on us. But we were the only people in there until a couple came behind us and after they jumped me for touching a kitten that was reaching out of the cage for me telling me not to touch it they let the woman behind us hold it. It was unbelievable. I can't believe the disrespect I received from this place after I have given up my free time to them especially. If that's how they treat customers then I will defiantly not be back. I would rather drive to Knoxville if I really wanted an animal. But it's not like they do their job any way. The only animals that I've experienced them picking up are not a bother to society or they even BELONG to someone. They are also nasty and when I volunteered their dogs had over 20 ticks all over them. It's sad. I won't be back. They've lost my service and any more or my volunteer work. I hope no one else gets this treatment ever. They really need to do something about that receptionist lady.
