This place is amazing. I recently camped at Roan Mountain State Park and basically used this bakery as my sole source of subsistence. Biscuits & gravy, bacon, cappuccino, strawberry crumb cake, and a pizza later for dinner. The pizza may rank the best I’ve ever had and yes, I’ve had NY and Chicago authentic. Oh yea the coconut macaroons are amazing too.

An understated gem of a bakery. My wife and I are here visiting from Canada. We have tried a lot of bakeries over the years and this one is a standout for sure. Punches well above its prices and can go head-to-head with the very best.We had the “All the Way” pizza for lunch and took home a few baked goods. Cinnamon Walnut Strips, Red Velvet Sandwich Cookie, Macaroon, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie and Strawberry Crinkle. The pizza was loaded with tasty toppings and the crust was perfect; charred on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Delicious! You’ll never go for a cinnamon roll after trying their Cinnamon Walnut Strips. Their Red Velvet Sandwich was perfectly NOT overly-sweet. And my wife and I agreed that their macaroon is the best we’ve ever had. Not sure of the story behind this place, but it’s a winner. If they opened up a bakery in Toronto, they’d put a lot of them out of business. Sure, the eating space is nothing special, but go there purely for the quality of the items they bake and you will not be disappointed.

Been going to Smoky mountain bakers since they opened in Roan mountain Tennessee and I have to share this story because it shows they care about their customers and their reputation! A few months ago I called in an order for a bunch a pizzas about $70. The food is worth it the quality of food and ingredients is why I love it . Well all the food was burnt on top when I got home. Finally got around to sending them an email and not complaining I wanted to let them know I was not mad but disappointed And I would try again but maybe with new people stuff like this happens. So I emailed the owner to let them know and told them I would try again. Well I went there yesterday with a friend to show him their food and try again. I was shocked but pleasantly surprised they refunded my bad experience from before which I used to pay for my meal. The food came out great exactly as the first time!!! Sometimes the owner needs feed back to make changes but I have to say that Smoky Mountain Bakers has always been on top of my list and now will forever stay there because of they way they stand behind their customers and their food. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be going back again and again. Thank guys true customer service

I visit Roan Mtn State Park at least twice a year and since Smoky Mountain Bakers opened, I come here every time for pizza.I love the fact that I can get a delicious gourmet wood-fired pizza in this little town outside the park. I’ve tried almost every variation but the 6 Cheese is my fave I think, just sublime.Their baked goods are amazing. Try the brownies or rice treats!

I was referred to Smoky mountain bakery by a friend of mine. We were traveling from the North Carolina mountains into the Tennessee valley area and he told me that this was a must stop. Since we are visiting Roan mountain, that's what we did. He did warn me, this is a local place and it looks like a hole in the wall. But don't be scared off! The pizza is magnificent .He could not have been more right. There is a sign right off the highway and as you travel up the side street there's one board left and the restaurant signed. The restaurant itself is not much to speak for from the outside. But the parking lot was full and so we went in and ordered two pizzas.Their pizzas are wood fired, the crusts are thin, and the flavor is amazing. Don't be put off if the edges of the crust seem a little crisp at times, that's just natural to a wood-fired pizza. There are plenty of toppings, the crust itself has a great flavor, and the sauce is wonderful. On top of great food the service was wonderful, and the price was right! One morning for those who are used to franchise locations... This is a local eatery. The atmosphere is probably not what you're used to. But the food is excellent and will worth branching out.I will make a point of coming through anytime I'm in the area. If You're not used to eating at a local joint and are used to commercial franchise ventures, You are in for a pleasant surprise.

Just a great local flavor place off the beaten path. We like thin crust pizza like we used to get at IMOs in St. Louis... This is very close. Probably the best pizza I've had in East TN.They have several topping themed pizzas, but they are all the same size, 15 inches. They also sell bakery items and the chocolate chip cookies were very good. This place looks sketchy from the outside and it is hidden... But well worth a stop for great pizza 🍕.

This is definitely a place you should make time for. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We tried a few of their cookies. You can get 4 for $5. We also had pizza. They sell a 12 inch pizza. The cheese only is $10. Their pizza is cooked in wood fire type oven. We enjoyed the pizza. It appeared to have been cooked at a little too high heat. The outer crust was burnt and the bottom not done well. There are a few tables to eat inside and a number of picnic tables outside. The bathrooms are in an outside building. Parking and drive is Gravel.

Still would give the food /baked goods 5 stars. You have to understand things are different around here though. They are on mountain time and don’t have specific days for all their items so we just go back each day to try different things.Today we had breakfast there and the sausage in the gravy was kind of chunky and clumpy and there wasn’t much of it so I had to cut it up. The cheese biscuit was good. I liked the eclair cake too. However my personal favorite is still the lemon tart. We will go back every day we stay at the campground to see if they have them just like we do every time we come. The service leaves something to be desired (if you accidentally get in the server’s way trying to check out the other baked goods to purchase more you will hear a big impatient huffing) but we don’t go for the service, we go for the baked goods. Not everyone will get a menu because it’s “right there on the wall”. If the baked goods weren’t so good and the options so limited in the area we might try some where else to see if they were more polite.Update: service is still not great but we still love the food. The keylime tarts are the best. It would be better if they had a rotation for pastries and baked goods other than the bread. You have to just come and hope there will be something you want/your favorite thing and even though we went almost every day they were open during the 9 days we were there we only got tarts twice.

This is what happens when you have great food but miserable staff. They can do better but they don’t care.Great place to get pizza, if they can manage to get it right. 1/12/2023 Again, if they can manage to get it right…look how much cheese they didn’t put on 🤷🏽‍♂️ absolutely horrible. Update 6/24/2023 decided to give them another chance and they gave me a burnt pizza. I asked for a refund and they said that’s how their pizza comes out. Burnt. The kid at the oven laughed at me and the girl at the front asked me to leave. Very horrible customer service once again, and another bad product sent out the door again. It’s a disappointment anymore to come here unfortunately. What a shame. Employees cant even be professional anymore. Also, the customer that walked in behind me was returning a pizza because there’s was also burnt. Same day another update. The owner came to the rescue and saved the day. She offered to make it right and the pizza was phenomenal!!! Just like it used to be!! Very happy, will add a star. And I will do a star for every satisfactory visit in the future. I will post a picture of what the pizza looked like under owners supervision, again Phenomenal!! Hopefully they can straighten up their attitudes and customer service.9/23/2023We ordered two pizzas last night. One was an “all the way” and the other was supposed to be spinach and Asiago. They called us back to let us know they didnt have spinach and that was no problem. However when we went to pick it up, they gave us an all the way pizza, and a regular cheese pizza and said oh by the way we were out of Asiago too. But I was expected to take both pizzas and pay for them, which I did, to avoid any bad encounters with your staff. I don’t appreciate the way I was treated by them last time and I don’t want another incident. Perhaps they should’ve let me know ahead of time that they were also out of Asiago. I threw the cheese pizza in the burn pit at home. What a waste of money. What a disappointment.

Excellent food. I have had some great omelets in my day, but the one I had here was absolutely the best. The whole plate was just superb. Top notch. They have a cookies and cream cookie. That's cookie-ception! So good.My only regret is that I won't be in town long enough to try the pizza. It looks amazing!

We’re from NE FL so when we booked our cabin, I started looking for the locally owned business and restaurants in the area. I saw the reviews and photos and knew we had to stop in. We are a family with culinary experience so we know what it takes. We had breakfast. A breakfast sandwich on a fresh made from scratch cheddar biscuit with bacon, cheddar and egg, French toast made with multigrain walnut bread, a cowboy burrito with hash browns and a spicy chicken omelette with home fries. All were so delicious!!!! Portions were very generous as well. We also purchased baked goods to take home with us. Everyone there is so friendly. I think our only disappointment was we didn’t come here sooner and missed out on the baked spaghetti dinner the night before! Don’t pass this place up if you are in the area.m!! We’re already talking about our next visit and we can’t wait to eat here again.

Loved the pizza! Wish I'd known they are heavy handed with the cheese, would have requested less but no matter was generous with toppings & the dough was thin & yummy. Hiked Roan mountain & we were so cold, loved the fireplace & view! Took home a lemon & blueberry tea cake. Never had a better tasting, not too sweet & amazing textured cake! Will try to make another trip when we're back in the area.

Who would think that this off the beaten path would have such awesome pizza. We visited this location a few years back. It has been on my bucket list to return when I was back up in the Roan Mountain area and finally got the opportunity on New Year’s Eve. They have expanded since my last visit. Don’t expect a fancy environment, but you can expect awesome pizza. The crust was absolutely perfect! They DO NOT skimp on the toppings, they take them all the way out to the edge. The pepperoni was not at all greasy (don’t know how they do that) with the perfect amount of cheese. They also have baked goods such as cookies, scones and breads. Breads sell out quickly so you have to arrive early. We also got 4 cookies and all were tasty traditional style cookies.Staff was super friendly. Do yourself a favor and seek this place out on your next visit in rural Tennessee.

I cannot say enough good things about Smoky Mountain Bakers. To the customer service, the pizza, and the baked goods I was delighted overall. This little shop of goodness tucked away in the mountains of Tennessee is a must if you are in the area. I have been here twice in one month and will continue to stop in when I am in this part of the mountains.

We were recommended by off the grid adventures for pizza and it did not disappoint! The pizza was delicious! Also tried the baked items. The almond cookies were delicious.

Food is overpriced you also have to bust your own tables you are required to get your own drinks I have never seen a restaurant that requires you to pay for your food before you're even able to sit down or eat a restaurant should not have flies flying around in it I have made my first trip and my last trip all-in-one and do not recommend this restaurant at all

Excellent and unique pizzas at a reasonable price! My son (8 y/o) called me and asked me to bring home a Little Cesar's pizza while I was actually eating here. I said, "Not little Cesar's, but I'll bring you a pizza". He was a little apprehensive because he knew he loved Little Cesar's but didn't know anything about this place. When he finished eating, he said "Can we please get our pizza from that place from now on!?" 😂If you're looking for a great stone fired pizza, look no further!

The wife and I took a trip out here for lunch this afternoon. What an amazing little spot.We went in with the intent of getting a couple pizzas, which we did. But walked out with two different loaves of sourdough, some cupcakes, some cinnamon rolls, and a bunch of leftover pizza. The pizza has been the best we've had in the area. Definitely much much MUCH better than the "famous" place up on Beech Mountain. They come out pretty quick, and the crust is definitely well done. But it's such a good pie.The sourdough loaves are so good. Nice and crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Amazing job on them. The cupcakes are super moist and flavorful. And the cinnamon rolls are seriously to die for.The place is a little cramped. It was raining when we went. The outside seating wasn't really ideal, which left us inside. Cozy and charming, but, definitely tight.Prices have gone up since some of the other photos on here. A pizza with up to 3 toppings was $13. Sourdough was $5/loaf. Cinnamon rolls were $6 for 4... Still very reasonable given the portion sizes, and, the way the world is these days. But could be a little better.Definitely go to this place if you're anywhere close. You will not regret it :)Vegetarian options: They had "beyond sausage" as a topping option. Plus lots of non-meat options as wellParking: It's a dirt lot with kinda scattered "define yourself" parkingWheelchair accessibility: Would be pretty tight for a wheelchair

FireOven Pizza near perfection! Nice ambiance in an old world type of fashion Great value. ☆☆☆☆Meal came out quickly. Didn't much care for the ice in a portable cooler bucket... but hey. I guess itz just ice.Took a little while for the hostess/order taker to FINALLY address us for our order after the order before was completed - she 🤔 just left and walked away. Maybe she had to gather herself 🤨 before returning. ☆☆ Though once placed two pies got on the table in less 20minutes. ☆☆☆☆☆But yeah. The pie was delightful. Homey feel. I would est the pizza again even faster if my skin's appearance could be more obvious☆. 😏
