Dr Haig and Dr Petersen and the entire staff are awesome!We started seeing Dr Haig and he saved my dog’s life and gave us about 4 or 5 extra precious years with her by correctly diagnosing her issue and prescribing the correct meds.Dr Petersen was just as awesome when Dr Haig was unavailable.I recently had to say goodbye to my precious 17 year old Yorkie Poo. I received a card in the mail today from the entire staff with hand written notes.Thank you all so much for the card and for taking such good care of Paxton!Kim Lay

We took my senior dog, Pumpkin, in for a really serious case of bladder stone and weight loss and just not feeling well. I was so nervous and scared that she was really sick and was not going to make it. The staff was so friendly. Listened to all my concerns (and rambling too) and we didn’t feel judged or anything when we came in because of her condition (she deteriorated quickly). They just wanted to make sure she was comfortable and we were too! We were presented with all the options ranging from medicine to xrays etc. In the end, they listened to us and what we felt was the best for our dog and for us! She is doing so much better and we will definitely be using Powell Animal Hospital for our other dog and feel great knowing she’s in good hands there!

Love this animal hospital! Inever have a problem scheduling an appointment and the whole staff treats you like family! It is like a good old fashioned community veterinarian hospital.

Staff is SO sweet and you can tell they truly care. After we had to put our cat to sleep, the vets sent us a sympathy card with hand written messages. We have never had to wait long for a check up or anything. Couldn’t recommend enough!

If you're looking for help or healing for your pet I wouldn't suggest this place at all... It's either astronomical amounts of money with unrealistic treatments or coercion to put your baby down. I'm absolutely shocked with how the older male veterinarian handled my situation. I just told him "well, um no" and paid my office visit fee and walked out. I took my boy to an actual veterinarian and got actual help and a treatment plan from a real person. The lack of empathy or problem solving blew my mind considering this is supposed to be a "professional establishment". I'm sure this place is only good for end of life plans. However the front desk nurse was nice and helpful on the phone , and after I posted my review, one of the nurses called me to ask about my negative review and to apologize for my experience. That was very kind and maybe it's just that Dr. Haig person. But also going over other reviews and very similar poor experiences and obvious negligence for a number of years, I am skeptical of this practice.

I was thoroughly impressed with the entire team at PAH! Everyone was super friendly and diligent about getting my baby cared for for an emergent type wound on a day they were short handed. The doc even called the next day to check on him and make sure my questions were answered ♥️

The doctors are great and give you the time of day. Often provide suggestions on how to help your pets without having to pry the info out of them. Bit on the expensive side but worth the money!

I lost my best bud very suddenly and unexpected. He was the best dog and I loved him like son. Powell animal hospital never had him as a client, but upon his death I took him there for cremation services. Not only was the staff very apologetic and sympathetic on the day I arrived with him, they have also sent me a card in the mail and a card with his ashes. The card they shared in the mail was signed by all the staff with personal messages. I found this to be above and beyond and left me thoroughly impressed. I want to thank and recommend the Powell Animal Hospital to everyone.

A huge thank you to Dr. Haig and the staff of Powell Animal Hospital. My poor baby wound up with a severely broken leg (both fibula and tibia snapped). She needed an amputation of the leg, and near where I live (in Pennsylvania) I was looking at $4,500 - $6,000 to get it done. My parents suggested Dr. Haig (he is a friend of theirs), and they were able to get WInkie in very quickly and saved me over $2,000 on the vet bill (net savings of about $1,500 when you consider the cost to drive down here in my motorhome).Everyone I encountered was very friendly and accommodating, and (most importantly), they took excellent care of my beloved pet!

Dr. Peterson has ALWAYS taken care of my Shiba Inu and explains everything to me so i can care for my service dog as well as i can. Miss Sue at the front desk is always so kind, sweet, efficient and knowledgeable. My dog and i always have a positive experience and i highly recommend them for any animal family members and their humans.

I love this hospital. Dr Peterson is my favorite. She always talks through what she is doing, explaining the whole way. Perfect for someone like me who has a ton of questions. And now during the COVID 19 she is still doing the same EXCEPT over the phone.She takes care of my crippled baby Vladimir von Dark Horse, and my Panda German Shepherd,Venus. You truly couldn't ask for more caring people.I always deal with Sue at the front desk. You will love her. She is always quick to help, and if she doesnt have the answer, she will get the answer quick.Now Vader(this is his nickname because lets be real, Vladimir von Dark Horse, is way to long to shout out every 10 mins.) He is a mouthy guy, he is like raising a human 2 year old YIKES!THIS is the same person that thought it would be cute to teach him to bark on command, when he was 3 months old. Obviously, I didn't think that through, but I sure do now when CLIFFORD is in my face... IT IS NOT CUTE NOW.I think he likes to bark to scare people. Or to announce his royal appearance.But back to the review of Powell Animal Hospital, if you go with them you will not be dissappointed

This was our first time in this office. The front desk was so sweet and nice. However, Dr. Haig was a nightmare. First of all, he was mad at us for not bringing the dog to the doctor in a while, even thought our pup is very healthy. Reminder this was our first visit with his office so we are not off to a good start. He asked me to hold my dogs mouth closed while they drew blood. I tried, but I am not trained to do this and it hurt our dog and he slipped out of my hands and tried to snap the doctor. The doctor brought his hand back to hit my dog but stopped and got in my face for letting him snap. Dirty looks went both ways after that. I think someone trained or an assistant should have been handling the dog. Needless to say the attitude and the dirty, looks and almost hitting, my dog did not do much for my first impression of the doctor. we were going to be scheduled for what I sure will be a very costly dental treatment, but we will not be back we will not give money to this type of vet. It’s OK to like animals more than you like people but when those people pay in your salary or you should be nice to them and their pets.

Not our regular vet so they wouldn’t work with us on payment arrangements so we couldn’t afford to get X-rays done of the injury after our kitten got her paw stuck in a raccoon trap (after being quoted $200 on top of the cost of the visit). I had originally given them 4 stars at the time of our visit but now upon taking my poor kitten to her regular vet, I am appalled by the fact that they were basically negligent in treatment. While they were friendly and most of all open on a Saturday afternoon to provide emergency care for our injured kitten they refused to give her anything but a pain med. I specifically asked for anti-inflammatory meds or antibiotics and was refused. Now I find out that there was no break or fracture (which we knew because she was putting weight on it) but that the meds I was refused could have kept us from having to make a return trip to the vet. Essentially her paw is now grossly inflamed and infected from the internal injury. All that Powell did was look at the paw, take her temp and send her on her way. The cost for the visit to do that was ludicrous! I am so glad that I have a regular vet that I can rely on because I will never step foot here again.

My husband and I are pretty new to the area and were looking for a veterinarian for our fur baby. I looked up and found Powell Animal Hospital. The staff was very friendly and set up an appointment to see my dog right away. Everyone was welcoming, kind, and friendly. DR. Beth was very professional, thoughtful, thorough, and took the time to explain the visit to me and answer all of my questions. My dog is older and is somewhat nervous and anxious upon meeting new people, however; she was calm and relaxed from when the staff came out to my car to get her all the way through the visit, and upon returning her to me. I am very well pleased with the treatment my dog received at Powell Animal Hospital. I have never seen my dog so content, and relaxed after a visit to the vet before like when I picked her up today from Powell. We will never be back! I spent so much money and time here trying to get a diagnosis on my dog. They were giving her medication that in the long run only made everything worse and when I finally decided i needed a second opinion it was too late for her. They completely missed that she had cancer for almost a year. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a vet. I didn’t feel heard or that my concerns for her were valid. Please go to The Gentle Doctor in halls instead she helped tremendously to get me answers.

After using the same vet for years and he retired, I had to find a new vet. Powell Animal Hospital was recommended. What a fabulous experience for my first visit. The waiting room was clean. The staff was super nice!! Dr. Haig was exceptional! To be able to stay with my new puppy for her initial exam and to be loved on by the staff. It proved rather quickly why Powell Animal Hospital came highly recommended. I’m anxious to get my 4 year old dobie acquainted with them as she’s due her annual the end of May. But, I was more than pleased with the knowledge, care, and love shown.

They were amazing. We had just adopted a puppy and she ended up very sick a couple of days after we brought her home. They were very attentive and made sure we knew they young Williams sometimes treats newly adopted dogs for free instead of doing all the treatments and charging me an arm and a leg. They have just gained a patient for life.
