This was a very beautiful and peaceful place to be! There's camping available, and they also have playgrounds. You can even ride your horse out here! Playground: There are multiple playgrounds and swings.Restrooms: The restrooms are by the camping area.

This place is a hidden gem! We didn't get a chance to see everything but there's always next time! The kids loved being there, between the hiking and all the sights! Plus the aviary was an unexpected stop but so worth checking out! Also, the park is very well taken care of and the bathrooms are clean! We will continue to visit!Playground: Not all parks have a play ground, one of the reasons we chose Big hill pond, the kids had so much fun!

Gorgeous! A beautiful drive out from Somerville. A nice cruise through the trees as we made our way to the hiking area. Very well laid out trails, evidently marked and cleared. There is some rough terrain, as to be expected. Once you make it to the watch tower, it's worth the climb! We didn't get to go on the boardwalk through the Dismal Swamp because it was closed due to storm damage. When I asked about potential repair timeliness, they said hioefby Memorial Day, weather dependent. Super helpful staff and rangers, too.

The activities available here are countless. From Kayak rentals to Disc Golf this park has everything! After a quick stop at the welcome center, viewing the small aviary and using the amenities at the campground. I made the hike to the Observation Tower and up it. There wasn't a dull moment the entire time. The view from the top is amazing. I might have spotted one piece of trash the whole hike. The bathrooms at the campground were definitely public outdoor restrooms but also very well kept. I will definitely be looking forward to another trip here for a longer duration.

My husband and I went on the BEST excursion ever! And it was only $20! Bill Hill Pond State Park held a Stargazing Float event on the pond and it was absolutely WONDERFUL and SO incredibly beautiful!!! We truly enjoyed it beyond words and need to do it again ASAP! I wish they would do it every month at the pond! (Every WEEK, really!) I can't say enough about it and would recommend ANY of their kayaking events, because their employees are so sweet, helpful and professional! It was definitely a great first impression for our first time ever at the park! The ONLY thing I'd recommend for next time is to provide signs directing people to the pond, because we went to the wrong body of water within the park and had to drive pretty far to find the pond, so we got there quite late, but they waited for us! ❤️ Other than that it was truly a PERFECT experience and we can't wait to do it again! 👌😍

Big Hill Pond is a very quiet park. We almost had it all to ourselves . We stopped at the visitors center since it was our first time there. The park ranger was super nice. There are a lot of hiking trails. We hiked the Dismal Swamp Boardwalk and it was beautiful. We made our way to the lookout tower. It was 81 steps to the top of the tower. The view was amazing from all directions. We made our way across the levee of Travis McNatt Lake. The fishing looked excellant on the lake. The campground was empty. It is primitive camping but you could park smaller campers there. Very nice campground but there are no hook ups. The sites were shaded very well. There is no swimming anywhere on this state park.

I'm a backpacker. I may get to do 3 good trips a year, if I'mlucky. That's really all time and money will afford. To scratch my backpacking itching between trips, I overnight at Big Hill Pond. I nice hike in to grassy point for the slow, relaxing evening. Come morning, hike on around McNatt Lake and up to the tower. It's a treat to hike to the tower for sunrise. Maybe a sip or two of coffee to get you heading back home. BHP is a little gem.

The gift shop as well was small, but so cute. The woman that was in there was extremely sweet.Playground: Small playground but still fun for the kids and clean.Picnic area: Plenty of places to have a picnic

The staff are super nice and friendly. They recommended the Turkey call trail hike which takes you across the boardwalk, to the observation tower and loops around to the lake across the dam. Wonderful hike of 2.45 miles. I saw wild boar in the swamp while I wad on the boardwalk. The view from the observation tower was magnificent. The trail wad well marked. Bring drinks and snacks, there are no vending machines. Small gift shop inside the visitor center. Public bathroom inside visitor center.

A new favorite! The disc golf is fun. My only down is they are expanding and I didn't like to listen to big loud equipment at 745 am. I couldn't enjoy coffee and morning sounds.

Great state park for individuals, friends, families or groups. The park and campsites are clean and well cared for with upgrades. Campsites are level with trees for shade but allow for sun, and the playground is in great shape. There are multiple hiking trails and a lake for fishing, kayaking or canoeing. BHP State Park is an all-around great state park, and we plan to return with our grandkids again.

We love going here with the pups. Just be cautious that all the hiking trails are not clearly lined and you could get lost if not careful 😅

Awesome park to go to! Great fishing, hike, camping, and hunting. Camping at one of there sites with access to facilities and hot showers, or rough it off trail at one of their remote sites.
