We brought our dog Jake to Dr. Stone to get a second opinion. She was honest and straightforward with us that it was his time. She let us sit with him in a special room while we waited for our daughter. We appreciate her honesty and compassion. We definitely recommend Appalachian Animal hospital and Dr. Stone.

We have boarded our two GSPs with Appalachian many times and we always have a great experience! One of our dogs was a little timid at first and they handled that with care. She’s become much less anxious about going now. Great staff and would highly recommend.

I switched to Appalachian a little over a year ago. I first met Dr Stone working with her at the county shelters vaccine clinic. She volunteers her time on her days off to help vaccinate pets. Working with her I noticed how thorough she was and how important precision is to her. That thoroughness and precision is exhibited by Dr Stone and her staff. They provide a care you can confide in. Our pets are our family and deserve the best care. You will find it at Appalachian Animal Hospital.

Best vet around ❤️ I drive from Elizabethton here because I don't like any other vet that's closer. You can tell they actually listen to your concerns and you are not rushed. Their "fear free" approach is amazing for one of my pups with extreme anxiety. A previous vet had stated that it's normal for dogs to be anxious and would not help my baby. Dr Stone took one look at her and knew her anxiety was not normal. She is now able to go places without nearly as much anxiety❤️. This place also doesn't push medication on you like other places like to do. I will never take my fur babies anywhere else.

Whatever you do don’t take your pets to Appalachian Animal Hospital. They only care about the deposit. When I said that wouldn’t be an issue they said they couldn’t see her til nov. I said it’s urgent they said well we can see her next week. I said again it’s urgent . They recommended that I go to all tails. I’m like really! All they care about was getting the money up front and still wouldn’t see her after I said that I could even pay for the full amount up front. Take your pets elsewhere. I made it clear that I had the money to pay but they still treated me like garbage

Took my baby boy to gain his wings and end his pain and suffering. This was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. 😭😭 but with the help of their wonderful tech who had also helped with his acupuncture and therapy made it the best experience it could be. She sat with me and held him and cried with me. She and I love chocolate labs. I truly know my boy was loved by AAH. All the staff their are always so warm and inviting. Thank you 😊

Staff and providers are so kind.Clean.They can tell you the price of everything before going up to the counter and being shocked.They handle my cat gently and lovingly.So happy to have found them. When I bring her home from a vet visit there she isn’t stressed or anything.Would recommend.

I flew across the country to this practice because the vets abilities are unparalleled. That said receptionist is cold and lacks the ability to navigate a conversation appropriately. If your animal is upon deaths door the doc is your best bet but enter waiting room hollow numb and ready to answer the same question 5 times.

Great hospital and staff. A bit pricy. They are only open every other Saturday and that’s very difficult when trying to board. It can cost you and extra day or two. Also Saturday appointments are so convenient for working families, by being closed very other one it makes getting a Saturday appointment difficult.

horrible people money hungry will let your pet almost die from their greed shame on them and idk who they hire but they not the brightest and they lie through their teeth. my friend took her puppy there and they couldn't read a worm test result correctly and thus that puppy we thought was free from worms went on to infect a bunch of other animals. ontop of that, they almost let my cat die cause they wouldnt give me another prescription (he has asthma) after starting him on steroids cause they wanted $500 for another xray. go to oakwell they are so nice there. F this place! lol

Dr. Stone is amazing. She is kind and caring and part of our community. I have 4 fur friends and choose a more holistic approach. Dr. Stone respects that and works with me to make sure my girls and boy live their best life. I have used several vets in the area that lecture me not Dr. Stone. She works with me.Vaccinate your pets, microchip, adopt from shelters.

Had a dog who fell and was hurt. They said the first appointment is two weeks out. Great hospital. Can you image going to the ER thinking you are having a heart attack and being told... Lets see... We can see you at 9am two weeks from now, or you can go somewhere else. That to me is not what you expect from your pets family doctors facility that has hospital in its name. You put trust in your family's pets doctor. They know your animal. Sometimes trust is misplaced. Just asked for them to look at her and see if she was bruised if they thought she was OK. We were in tears. Was told to go somewhere else as they didn't have time. Yeah last time we were there we had to wait two hours because they had an Emergency. But they can't take the time to do a quick Evaluation. Said to go somewhere else to give the Doctor there more time to do a proper check. Been over 25 years with them. Not the first emergency that they didn't have time for. Had one hour before closing. Guess going home is more important than helping an elderly pet. We even offered to pay double.

I moved up here from Florida a year ago. My French Mastiff, Destiny, has had nothing but love and good treatment from the staff and doctors. It came time to say goodbye to my girl. One of the saddest moments in quite some time. Being a former vet tech myself of 15years, the techs and doctor were phenomenal. So understanding, caring and patient. The price for the procedure was reasonable and all went as smooth as can be. Thank you ladies so much and for dealing with my helicopter dog parenting mindset and treating my baby girl with much love. You all are great!

Called here Friday morning desperately needing an appointment for my daughter’s ill cat but nothing available. While the lady on the phone could have easily left it at that and hung up on me she didn’t handle it that way but went on to tell me of the walk in clinic All Tails in JC and strongly encouraged me to take Dobby there based on his symptoms. I followed her advice and got Dobby there for treatment and 24 hours later Dobby is much improved. Your help by recommending All Tails may have saved our pets life. Thank you AAH!

A great location with friendly and caring staff. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Veterinary, boarding bathing, etc. We've brought them everything from new kittens to grumpy elderly dogs and never had a bad experience.Update 10/2022. Still fantastic.Update 7/2023. I am editing this review to cut AAH a bit of slack for the difficulties we faced with vet continuity. We foster orphan neonatal kittens and are heavy users of vet services (thousands $). We have a lot of experience with many vets here. We don't like this practice, and you may not either. The vet techs and aides are great. Continuity of docs was difficult, during the covid era, so it's harder to develop rapport with any vet. Things might be better now, but appointments were 1-3 weeks away and may be cancelled and put you even farther out. Management is very touchy about customer complaints.Update: now that covid craziness has abated, if this vet clinic is convenient it would be worth your own assessment. I am beyond disappointed at Appalachian. Which, is now my previous vet. I have been taking my fur baby to them for 8 years now, since she was a puppy. Taking her for appointments was ok it was never excellent service. I thought maybe I was just a little over protective and wanted a little more interaction and information than what I was getting from them. Just recently she had an actual emergency situation during business hours and they literally shrugged us off to another vet by giving a random list of names and number I could find on google. They said no veterinarian was available to see her for over 3 weeks!!! We trusted them and they failed us. She has a lot of anxiety with others the only reason I didn’t move her to another care provider before this was for that reason. I went with a recommendation from a friend to go to Cherry Point in Blountville they got her in within the hour. This place only cares about the $ amount not your pets care. I suggest you choose another vet and now. I recommend cherry point if you’re close. I got to speak with the doctor, they didn’t do unnecessary costly test and she spent 30 minutes with us talking through concerns, treatment, and all the questions this place had never had the time to answer. The first 3 yrs when they opened they seemed great but they got very money hungry taking in more patients than they could handle and moving way to quickly on visits. Please find somewhere else for your babies if you really care about them. I’m so glad I did!

The staff is amazing! They remember me and my pets every visit, and my cats are more relaxed here than I've ever seen at any other vet. And they were incredibly sweet and sympathetic when we lost both our dogs to old age only a year apart. They truly care about our pets and give them top quality care.

Dr. Stone and everyone on her staff has been amazing. We recently had to take our Doberman in to help her cross to her heavenly home, and the staff that had loved on her for three years all came in to say goodbye and get kisses. Dr. Fitzgerald was so kind in the process.They also have great boarding facilities. I highly recommend them. Our new puppy is getting the same loving attention our beloved Doberman received.

I absolutely love this animal hospital. I brought my cat in for a check up and the staff took such good care of her. They pet her, fed her treats, and made sure she was comfortable. I’ve never had a veterinarian office treat my cat so well. I highly recommend coming here especially if you want a warm and caring environment.
