Awesome experience today touring the York homestead. Our SP Ranger tour guide was very friendly, helpful & informative on many items with this state park. Beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors. Plus we received a Tennessee State Park passport book for free. Bathrooms were very clean.

Some fascinating history of Sargent Alvin York. Fought in WW1, at this time had no knowledge about the war and because of this he was a conscientious objector to the war. Uncle Sam said too bad you have to go fight, and he did. You need to either watch the movie or read the history. It is fascinating. Our tour guide was very friendly, and informative on the history and life of Sgt York.Restrooms: Restrooms are at the visitor center

Beautiful area with a water mill and beach area. Nice picnic shelters and clean restrooms. There is a playground for children. Across the street is Sgt Yorks home with tours. In behind the house is a trail that leads to a replica of the WWI trenches. The trail leads on through the woods to a swing bridge, but sadly, it fell down last year during a storm and has not been replaced!

Me and my family finally came here yesterday for a picnic, and to check out the historical sites. We were pleasantly surprised! Our first stop was to the old mill area. I wish I had known there was a beach at the river/dam area because we would have brought swim suits! But there’s a lot of picnic benches and covered pavilions to enjoy. A really nice playground/swing area, and the beach section is great. Nice water falling, shallow areas to explore and look for river rocks. It was really nice. The mill itself was cool too. It’s from 1880. We then went over yo the York home, which is only open during tours, and as masks were enforced we didn’t go inside. But I’m sure it was cool. We also walked to the WWI bunker replica, and took the walking trail all the way down to the suspension bridge that crosses the river. Over all it was a great day and the area is beautiful. There’s also a general store right there as well. We will definitely be back to spend a whole day by the water next time!

We had such a great visit here! Started off with a $3 guided tour of the York home (under 12 are free). The guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. We walked across a swinging bridge to the burial site and church. The kids enjoyed getting to experience the trenches as well. Then we had a picnic at the Mill and dipped our feet in the Wolf River. Definitely recommend!

We did my husband's Celebration of life at the Gristmill shelter#2 it was a favorite place of ours. We weren't allowed to sell anything for the memorial bench but we had an amazing day with family and friends.Playground: There's 2 play areas with slide, swings and climbingRestrooms: Are located close to the sheltersDog-friendliness: I didn't see no signs saying the were not allowed. But seen a cute little pomeranian.Picnic area: You can reserve the two shelters but theres other tables and grills around the ground.

Plenty of parking, great place to stop, take a walk, go to the bathroom, walk the dog and have a picnic, and let the children play on the playground. You can walk down to the water, enjoy the great view. There is an old corn mill there you can go inside and visit.Playground: Was well kept, clean and everything looked to be in good conditionRestrooms: Restroom was clean and very convenient.Dog-friendliness: Plenty of grass to walk your dog, or in the summer to let your dog take a swim

Beautiful park and historical site celebrating the life of American hero Sgt York who fought bravely along with other unnamed soldiers in the Argonne forest of France during WW1. This site has the mill and farmhouse that Alvin York owned and operated. You can enter the two story mill house and see the old components. Walk the park along side the river. Have a picnic on the well kept lawn or bbq under the covered picnic areas. Fishing and swimming are fun here. Plus you can tour the farmhouse and visit his grave on a short hike from the house.

At first glance it appears like the patk doesn't have much to offer. Many people appreciate for the historical value. Many enjoy hiking and fishing along the banks of Wolf River. At the mill there is a playground and people play in the water below the dam. Above the dam people fish. It is often stocked with trout. My favorite activity was kayaking up the Wolf River which is also an excellent way to fish the river. To see our adventures subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.

It has been a lot of years since I was here. Matter of fact the last time I was here Alvin was still alive and we were having a family reunion nearby. Very proud of the fact that both Alvin and his wife Gracie we're family. Fantastic folks and I miss them still

We went to see the Sgt. Alvin York house and historic site today. Love going to historical places. WWI hero. They also made a movie as well. Worth seeing and the guided tour was only $5 per person. Well recommended if you are ever near this place. Be sure to take a little time out of your day and learn something new.

Beautiful place to visit with the whole family or just by yourself. There are Paved sidewalks to the bathroom and throughout the park . A Pavillion and a play area for the kiddos. Can swim but wear swimming shoes because it has alot of stones and plus people fish there as well. Has a beautiful little waterfall. Also has a building with some old artifacts that you are allowed to explore. There is a little store down the road you can go to for odds & ends. I go to this park as often as I can . It's also a beautiful place to bring a date if you're into nature & peace and quiet. Have a fantastic day and enjoy . P.S. Not to far away is a Restaurant call Simply fresh in Jamestown, TN that I highly recommend going to if you are looking for a awesome place to eat after your park adventures.

This is a great place to learn about some history. Not only is to just a beautiful area but there is something for everyone. You can talk a nice short hike along wolf river to the cemetery. In the spring and fall beautiful wildflowers are out along the trail. You can take a walk into the trenches and see how the war was battled kids love this. Then if you go when they have the black Smith out along the road working that is really neat to. You can also enjoy the park and playground or the river. This is a great spot for the whole family.

The beautiful historical Homestead, Mill, Church and Cemetery of Sgt Alvin York one of the most decorated American Heros in World War 1. The home and property were a gift from the state of Tennessee to Sgt. York for his outstanding service actions.

For a warm, homey experience of celebrating a true hero, visit York Park. Oftentimes, we locals it for granted but it is a beautiful place with a rich history of World War I's most decorated soldier, Alvin C. York. You can tour his home, picnic beside Wolf River, shop in the General Store, visit his grave site, and even eat and his grandson's restaurant. You might even catch a glimpse of his son, Andrew Jackson York. For history buffs and patriotic Americans alike, this place is a must-see.

This is one of the best parks in Tennessee. I attend an reenactment during my visit and I met the Granddaughter of Sgt York. The history of his life and how he tried to help his local community is very inspiring. Happy Hiking! Jeff Mullins Photography Adventures. Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is a state park in Pall Mall, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Situated along the Wolf River, the park contains the farm and gristmill once owned by decorated World War I soldier Alvin C. York (1887–1964), who lived in the Pall Mall area for his entire life. Along with the millhouse and milldam, the park includes York's two-story house, York's general store and post office, the Wolf River Cemetery (where York and his family are buried), the Wolf River Methodist Church, the York Bible Institute, and various picnic facilities.Alvin York is one of the most celebrated soldiers in American history. He joined the pacifist Church of Christ in Christian Union in 1915, and when drafted for service in World War I in 1917, he applied for conscientious objector status, but was denied. On October 8, 1918, while on patrol along the Meuse-Argonne Front in France, York and his platoon wandered behind enemy lines and were caught in an ambush that left over half the platoon dead. York then led the handful of survivors in a counterattack that resulted in the capture of 132 German soldiers. York was awarded the Medal of Honor and became an instant celebrity, and upon his return to the United States he was barraged with offers for endorsements (both commercial and political), movies, and books, most of which he initially rejected, believing it was wrong to profit from an act of war. The Nashville Rotary Club raised the funds to buy York his Pall Mall farm, which it presented to York in 1922. After York's death in 1964, his widow donated the farm to the state of Tennessee

This was a wonderful park to visit. I always loved the movie and it was a lot of fun and very interesting to learn about all of Sgt. Alvin York's accomplishments. His was certainly a life well lived in service to others! It is nice that they put together such a nice park to keep his memory alive.

Nice place to stop and learn a little history. There are restrooms and some picnic tables to eat out on. There is an old Mill on the site with guided tours for a small price. You can also cool off in the river next to the mill if you like.

Our time at this park & the surrounding area truly touched our hearts. Alvin C. York was a remarkable man who not only accomplished amazing feats while in the service but also after returning home & working towards bettering the educational opportunities for his community. We took the tour of his home (well worth the adult admission of $5) & also loved walking to his burial site (beware of the swinging suspension bridge 😊). We visited the grist mill that the family once owned, the visitor center with the friendly & knowledgeable rangers, the replica of the WWI trenches & before we left, we visited the York spring & filled up our water jugs. No visit would be complete without visiting the York General Store operated by York's grandson where we ate a delicious & inexpensive meal 😊🚐

It's a really nice place. I recommend the whole experience by taking the tour of the home and walking the trail to burial site. But definitely watch the movie in the visitors center first.
