Seems more like a puppy mill than a shelter. I don't know their vet. Nor do I want to be forced into using a vet I don't know. The vet I use now is great and wonderful with animals. All my animals have lived happy, healthy and extremely long lives. My vet is always amazed at how long my animals live a healthy life. This is a scam of a shelter for sure.

I took 3 kittens I found in my backyard to Love At First Sight and they took such great care of them and they all now have homes! I went to visit them regularly and they looked healthy and well taken care of. Thank you LAFS!

The reason for the low rating is because in order to get a pet from here, they require you to get a plan with the terrible Vet Clinic across the street. LAFS usually has a good amount of kittens and puppies and cats and dogs to choose from, but it's the requirement of going to that particular clinic that makes it a problem. You'll find a lot of bad reviews about VCA, and not just in Nashville but in general all over the country. That signifies a clear systemic issue and all they care about is money. I would really be aware of this place unless and until they change the requirement. That just gives said clinic incentive to be greedy and to not care about you as an individual or your pet, but instead just a number.

Staff was super helpful during the entire adoption process. You then go right to Murphy Road Vet for a post adoption exam and to schedule your next appointment. All first year appointments and surgeries (spay & microchip) are included in the adoption fees. I personally like that the cost is split up monthly instead of paying all up front.

I’m just so shocked and saddened by the enormous cost of adopting a cat here. There is a one time fee but you also MUST pay a monthly fee of $67 for 1 full year ($800) which covers a spay/neuter and some vaccines but you can only take your cat to the vet across the street (which doesn’t have the best reviews). There’s no exceptions or ways around this. I’ve never heard of such an outrageous cost for a cat. This feels like racketeering. To echo everyone else’s comments, this makes them a pet store and not an adoption center.

you want the adoptant families to pay a monthly fee? 67$ (a male cat) x 12 months: 804 + the adoption feeToo expensive. You could offer the membership , but not forcing the families to pay for it. Or just do the job right! All animals should be already neutered/spayed for families to adopt them! and still paying for the adoption fee.

I went to adopt a kitten there and a couple days later we find out one of the owners accidentally gave it away. I was pissed and the managers did not handle it well when we politely asked them about the mistake they made. this is unheard of for a shelter

They adopt out kittens at 6 weeks old. Who does that? Everyone knows kittens need to stay with momma cat until 10 weeks or longer the earliest 8 weeks...but you guys dont care about your animals having problems or being scared when they leave just about the money. All your animals look sad and like they live in cages. Do better.

This place is horrible. When we walked into the store, we were immediately hit with a overwhelming stench of urine and feces. The place was dimly lit and dirty. The cages that held the puppies were not stable. Employees didn’t bother to help any customers and instead were doing each other’s hair at one point. When I dropped of an application for a kitten, I had to wait for one of them to finish for them to look over the application. She told me that she was doing her hair because she was bored at work and she wanted to try something out that she saw online. Against my better judgment, I should have just left as soon as I walked in the place. I doubt anyone from the store will respond to this review but I would advise everyone to stay away!

Puppies cramped in small rusted barricades. They were on the bare cold floor that was already covered in urine. One of the puppies stomach’s was growling.None of the animals had open access to water or food. Only 2 very small stuffed animals were in the puppies pin. There was multiple cats in a small play area.Highly disappointed in my visit. The reviews about the vet visits and costs are true. The animals are beautiful but the facility and staff is awful. It is a sad sight to see.

Oh goodness this place is a dream! We came to play with kitties and there weren't any so I recommend checking their social media first to see what babies are in that day. We still had fun with the puppers though and it was everything I'd hope it was. Also made me feel so positive knowing that these babies don't last here long. They are quick to be adopted :')Just beware, parking can be tough. tight small spaces and few of them.

I went here today and wanted to take all these pups home. They were in small metal barricades on a marble floor. The floor was covered in pee and no one was cleaning it up. Staff watched and stared as one of the barricades fell on another puppy and my friend picked it up. This place needs to be put out of business.

Employees really aren’t attentive to the puppies. Used dirty mop water to clean the feces. Didn’t have clear or fair standards on certain adoption situations. Definitely will not be returning to this place.

A class act place!! I found a few puppies under my house and called "Love at First Sight". The lady's I spoke to on the phone were very sweet and worked me into their busy schedule on short notice due to my days off. I came in and they directed me across the street to have the puppies looked at by the Animal Hospital. Everyone over at the Vet was exceptionally kind and helpful as well! I was in and out in a matter of 30 mins. I left knowing that the puppies were in the best place I could have taken them and it wouldn't be long before they found their forever home! Thank you to Love at First Sight and the Animal Hospital!! Great People all around!!

I adopted a kitten from here. I love my kitten, but paying so much a month even with no visits? If you need to bring your kitten to the vet every month for a year, your kitten is very ill. I feel bad for all the kitties there because they don't know that the organization is just using their cute faces as money makers to scam people. This place isn't willing to compromise or anything with pricing even if you're not in the best place to be spending $57 a month ON TOP of paying the same amount or more to visit the vet clinic. You either pay it, or you don't get the animal. You'd be better off just buying from a reputable breeder for the same pricing. Oh yeah, and they won't fix your kitten until 6 months of age. This means your kitten could go through a heat cycle for no reason. Spaying before the first heat cycle almost eliminates the possibility for mammary cancer. But they don't care. At all. Please don't send your precious babies here. And don't adopt from here. Nashville Humaine is the best place to adopt a dog or a cat. They dont overcharge and actually care about your fur babies. Everyone looking at the reviews clearly sees the amount of people having the same issue. I saw them too. I ignored them. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Really sad that I have to leave a review like this. This is a pet store and not an adoption center. They only seem to care about making money versus actually placing their sweeties into good homes. We walked in to meet the kittens and I fell in love with the little orange one.I come from out of town and also work for the airlines so I have travel benefits. Not to mention, I also work with a nonprofit where we transport animals from one state to another for foster and adoptions. When I told the woman at this adoption center my situation, she explained that all the animals there needed to be covered with VCA across the street for a full year. And that if I wanted to take the kitten, it would be about $900That. Is. Insane. So we walked across the street to VCA for clarity. Not only were they shocked that we were told $900, they also seemed confused so they called the woman on the phone.Upon speaking with her, they explain to me that she will not adopt out to anyone who lives more than an hour outside of Nashville. And that the fees are $750 for 1 year of medical bills at VCA.We go back across the street a second time and ask the woman if we could get her a letter from my veterinarian explaining that the kitten would be in perfect hands and if we could please adopt her for a reasonable flat fee and take her elsewhere for care. The woman changes her story AGAIN and says that she won't adopt the kitten out because she only has 2 and wants to stay open through the weekend. That I can try another facility since it's kitten season. Are you serious? The fact that there are people like her who claim to care about the well-being of their animals, when in actuality it's just a money making business, disgust me.

Animals are well taken care of. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Animals were drinking water. I recently adopted a kitten there and have adopted in the past.Would recommend Adopting from here

I'm not saying the situation experienced by Shawn Smith is inaccurate, but I don't think this organization intentionally tried to sabotage their adoption. Their first concern is for the animals and placing them in the best home possible, NOT customer service and making sure humans are happy and satisfied. If more than 1 party is interested, its their job to pick the best fit of those parties.I LOVED my experience with them - it was fast and easy. I visited them one day and was able to adopt my dog within minutes (start the process I should say). I could have taken her home that day but since I had schedule conflicts, I was able to pick her up the next morning.I think the cherry on top is what followed. You are required to use the vet across the street for the pet's first year of treatment (this is because the rescue org is supported by the vet org). This was the best thing that could have happened to us. Murphy Rd Animal Hospital is AMAZING!! love them!! They truly care about your animal and will call you regularly to follow up on them.

I can't say enough about this place! The staff are wonderful and they take in and completely care for these sweet puppies and kittens...vaccinate, feed them, find homes for them, micro-chip them, and follow the ones they adopt out to make sure they are being cared for completely! They are the nicest people and make you feel so welcome!Anyone who is looking for a sweet little puppy or kitten to add to your family, please give this place a chance. The animals here are completely vetted and have been well taken care of. You will also meet some of the nicest people anywhere! They will also take in any healthy puppy and/or kitten (or litter) and find homes for them all! They are awesome!

Recently me and my boyfriend came into love at first sight and we loved the atmosphere and we decided to get a pup. We were told it would be $40 to actually adopt him and then another $50 to start up vet costs for the months to come. We liked the monthly fee just because it paid for vet visits for their first year. We went to a lot of trouble for him, and while we love him very much, this adoption process was very “he said, she said” Appointments were messy, I was kind of made to feel like I couldn’t even hold my own dog while we were getting everything set up because one of the employees kept holding and petting on him. After we’ve taken him home, while he’s still a young pup, I think this place REALLY affects their potty training. They let them go anywhere and just mop it up without any “no” or reprecussions. I feel like they’re screwing future owners a little bit by doing that. And the $50 you pay monthly does NOT cover medication. Would have been nice to know that beforehand. When I’m thinking “vet costs” I’m thinking the full package. So being a little more specific would have been great.Thinking about it now, I just wouldn’t adopt here again. It’s a lot of back and forth and not the wonderful experience it should be.For some it may be, but I feel like certain people they really put a blockade against whether it’s because of how you look or whatever, and I genuinely feel that way.EDIT:I wanted to add this on as well, it’s been 3 years and my dog has been perpetually terrified of men in particular. All women he loves, but men he is deathly afraid of, and I have had no man near him that would have caused anxiety the way he has it. I’m not saying this place mistreats animals, but I am saying that my dog has a fear of men that has never improved, which I can only assume comes from somebody here that may have mistreated him.Food for thought, I just wouldn’t adopt animals from here.

I have brought them 20 puppies over the years. (BAD, ME!)Upon bringing a fur baby to them, you go immediately across the street to the vet. They examine them and give them their 1st round of shots. Then they go back to LAFS and are placed on their website. I felt great about taking them there. I do know only responsible people can adopt.I have sent dozens of people there to adopt puppies and kittens. Please, do NOT GIVE away your animals! Often they are used AS BAIT in dog fights! You will feel great about visiting them for either to adopt or give them your animals and let them find them a happy home!

I adopted our new little best friend here with the Tennessee Dachshund Rescue! I couldn't be happier. The store is well organized and it was nice to have a small, quiet space to meet my little pup before taking her home.

We got our puppy there 2 years ago. It is the absolute best way to buy a puppy if you don't want to spend $1000+. We put in an application then watched the pictures weekly on the website. When we saw one we liked we were there before they opened with our approval in one hand and our money in the other. There was another family interested, but we got her because they didn't answer the phone. The only complaint is they don't have full breed puppies usually, but at these prices who cares? Don't show up at a random time and expect to take a puppy home, they don't work that way.

Spoke with Isabella who was kind and awesome! She informed me about my application and apologized for the delay. Even though I did not end up getting a pup with them, she was very responsive during the whole process which is great being that they are short staffed. Would definitely adopt from them if I end up getting another puppy!

This is not an adoption center. It's a pet store. They call it an adoption but they charge a monthly fee for a year. You'd end up paying close to $1000. I'm also pretty sure they get their dogs from a puppy mill.

I've adopted 2 pups from LAFS now. It's always a wonderful experience. I highly recommend them and the staff at VCA across the street. The adoption fees being their vet bills is amazing!

Dirty and sad. Wish I could take all of the animals but could not support a business who treats their animals like that. Either need to hire more staff or better resources.

The puppies look great but it's 40 for a male and 45 for a female every month with 50 down. That's around 500 to "rescue". And for the first year you have to take them to their vet. So it's basically their dog and your holding onto it. The puppies aren't items. They need to stop treating them like they are.

We adopted both of our puppies from here. All the people who work here are so nice and friendly, and they truly do love and care about the animals. The vet across the street has always been very good to us as well.We now have two happy, healthy puppies thanks to LAFS.
