Update.... wife called and told me there was a water leak at home. Come home to find a failed water valve for the ice maker. If course Stewart Brother's had the exact valve we needed. Friendly staff as always!Always have what I need in stock. Friendly and courteous staff. Clean and neatly organized shelving. Never had a problem that someone wasn't able to help solve. Great little hometown hardware store. Some things may be priced a little higher, but you definitely will get the better shopping experience here than the big box stores.

Awesome customer service the minute you walk through the doors from people who have expertise in any area you are interested in. Went to a big box store needing to purchase only 8 screws and was told they only sold in large boxes that would cost me $32. Outrageous for a DIY’er and waste of $$. The gentleman at the store suggested Stewart Brothers and he was so right! They had someone assist me and I only paid .24 per screw! Bought all the herbs and tomato plants I needed for my garden while there too! Paint is highest quality with expert who is qualified to truly advise! I’m a customer for life!!

We built our home 10 years ago and bought all our Baldwin Brass from the Madison Avenue store when it was in Midtown. James handled everything and was a pleasure to work with. We used it in every room and on all 10 exterior French double doors.James knew exactly what I needed to make it work and ordered it and it always arrived on time.

TL;DRUse the Do It CenterI have old, rusted bolts in my dining room chairs. And since I’m not Jeff Bezos, I chose to fix them as best as I can, rather than tossing them and buying new ones.Now, I could have gone to an Orange or Blue box store to find these screws, but I’m sure you know how hard it is to find someone who knows exactly what you’re looking for. Not the case here!I spent about five minutes trying to find the screws and washers I needed at the Do-It center, but I couldn’t make heads or tails. I went to the front, asked for some assistance, and in as much time, one of these fine people helped me find the things I needed.Now, it is paramount that I inform you that the gentleman who helped me encouraged me to buy a box of the washers I required, since buying a box would be cheaper than buying them piece meal. I needed 40; the box’s contents? 100! He tried to save me money at a cost to the company. I like that.Below are pictures of the old bolts compared to the new ones, including a shot of the chair with some already installed.

The rudest service I’ve ever experienced in my life! I was told that my service dog “couldn’t possibly be a service dog” (she is a very small dog) after being told “pets aren’t allowed in the store and there’s a big sign on the door stating that!” The person who said those things acted as though it was beneath him to assist us. It was an unnerving ordeal.

In my travels, I happened upon an old woman who told the grand tale of a hardware store that was unlike any she'd seen before, the old crone said from the time you enter the doors to the short walk to the lawn and garden isle she had 4 maybe even 5 employees ask if she needed assistance! I took it as truth, but it would have to be truth verified !!! and so I set out to see for myself....It was true. EVERY SINGLE WORD BY TUNDER. Now, you can trust me, but if you're smart, it will be trust verified and you'll go investigate that unicorn Yourself.

After a 1 hour trip to Lowe’s and another 45 minutes at Home Depot, I was unable to find what I was looking for. No one wanted to help nor could anyone answer my questions. Decided to stop by Stewart Brothers for one last chance to find what I needed. I walked in the door, the lady at the desk sent me directly to the aisle I needed in the back of the store. Another associate met me 1/2 way back to take me directly to what I was looking for. He even spent the time to tell me how to use it and gave me some really good pointers. I love the home town feel of this store and EVERYONE is so knowledgeable and helpful!!!!! Next time, I’ll go to Stewart Brothers first!!

Every time I go into the store, the workers are friendly and courteous. They ask me about the project I'm working on and provide great advice on best method to accomplish task. I just meet David, the store manager today and he gave me great advice and a better repair approach than I was planning. It worked out great!

After reading the other reviews I had to look at the picture to see if it was the right place. I called from across town to check on a part that I was told they carried. After talking to a young man and asking him if they had one he came back to the phone quickly and said that they didn't. Something didn't feel right about his response, good help is hard to find kind of thing, so I drove out anyway to see if they had it because I needed it the next morning. When I got there the first woman that I talked to was short, in a rude condesinding kind of way. I walked past her thinking that I wouldn't have any more interaction with her and just go about my business. I found a young man that worked there and recognized his voice from the phone call that I had had earlier and asked him where those parts were. He told me the wrong place so I knew he hadn't even looked, so I went back up front and an elderly woman cashier asked if she could help. I asked where the parts I needed were and she took me strait to them. I stood and looked at the five parts that I needed sitting on the shelf and I had to sit a cool down for a minute. I left the store mad and left without what I needed because after how I was treated by the help. No way I was going to spend a dime there. Good luck.
