They deserve a chance at a better life. There are many ways to volunteer. Check them out & shop at their Thrift Store on Hwy 411.

I lost my service dog a year ago in Jan 2023. Haven't been Able to fully get over that.As a dog owner, I believeYour pets become like your children. I've had a hard time getting over the loss of my dog.So my mother told me to go volunteer at this facility. So I am. I met the director, I met a lady named deedee and also I met a nice manager named jenna. They made my experience easy. They are extremely kind and helpful to everyone who walked through the door. I try to go here as often as I can.

Although it seemed loud and chaotic at first for me, there is much care and kindness going on behind the scenes.Without sound barriers on the outdoor kennels, the dogs can become rightfully excitable once the loud barking ensues.Veterinarians have examined each animal one or more times, each animal is spayed or neutered and all vaccinations are up-to-date.The entire staff has been open and honest in answering all questions I've had and I'm proud to say that that the stray who was walking the streets of Tellico Plains (formerly known as Shady Lady) has found her forever home and now goes by Sadie!

I've been blocked trying to inform people on Facebook about one of your dogs we adopted named spanky! Yall have lied about him completely and knowing he attacks as soon as he gets somewhere and didn't even have the time to train him and correct him properly. So now he's with another family that has been lied to and they have kids as well. Next time it'll be a child being attacked rather than an adult and other animals. I understand the shelters are full but don't lie to these families willing to adopt. He isn't 9 months he's 7 months and he's not potty trained or house broke.

Lovely environment very inviting to selected a lovely animal to bring home. My cat picked me with her paws. I'd happy in our home and playful. My son happy to have cats now. Their foster to adopt program helps so much selected the right fit your family. Thank you

The cats there were just super sweet and loving ❤ Especially this little Orange kitten that I wanted! The dogs were just as sweet also, and the staff was kind. :)

Always very helpful. I live in a place with a high stray drop off. They're always willing to help the dogs that show up at my house. Also recently had a barn cat get hit by a car and orphan 6 kittens. They were able to take the entire litter of 9 day old kittens and get them a new adopted mama. Very thankful for everything they do.

It was great, we did a 2 week foster with intent to adopt. We had been searching for a new puppy and found a beautiful blue healer 10 month old puppy. He was very skittish when we first got him but became attatch very fast. He's still a little hesitant around strangers but he loves to cuddle with us. The adoption went very well and 5he staff were fantastic and helpful in finding us a new addition to our family

We went up for what we thought was going to just be a meet and greet with a puppy. Instead, we came home with her. Which was fine. Just wasn't prepared for it.The visit itself was chaotic. They could use a little more organization. They had two ladies working up front dealing with people in their office while they both were on the phone. We couldn't tell if they were talking to us or to whom that was on the phone.But, other than that, we are satisfied with the experience. Cece, formally known as Sierra, is a happy puppy. And boy, is she a spitfire🤣

I went here Saturday 11/19/2022 and meet Roscoe he is Australian Shepherd . He was very well taken care of clean has great manners and so loveable. And of course i took him home with me he has been the best addition to out family we couldn't ask for a better fur baby .

I was lucky to have the opportunity to volunteer as a veterinary student here last week. I was really impressed by the director and all the people working and volunteering there. They have a huge task in front of them with so many animals needing homes, but they provide excellent care to all of them. We walked each of the dogs so they could get enrichment while others cleaned all the pens and runs. They have a good amount of space and opportunity to be outside. The staff knew so much about the animals even though there were a lot there. They were efficient with cleaning- it was truly impressive to see the shelter at work. The grounds are really pretty and the animals all seem happy. The kittens and cats had lots of toys to play with and fun cages where they could jump back and forth between spaces and ledges. All of the employees really love these animals. I was happy to have the opportunity to work here and see how a shelter should run.

They need to upgrade the way they provide vouchers. Like a way to sign up online maybe, and mail the vouchers to specific addresses. A per family limit.The system in place is horrible. Now we have 7 puppies running around from dogs we've rescued, and tried endlessly to obtain vouchers through their "just keep calling" system. Just great!Not all of us have time to spend, hour after hour trying to call!

Went here this place needs a new building I wish I could help fund them a place or know where to begin but they are awesome people and they need donations!On the bright side, I did go down and adopt a small kitten, my male cate gets along well with him my older female well that's a different stor but she's working on its ! Ut all my dogs have warmed up to him as he has with them.

My dog was missing and couldn't find him.. I made Facebook posts etc. I contacted this shelter and asked if my dog had been picked up. The gentlemen who answered was very kind, understanding, comforting and very knowledable of dogs and animals in general. Even though my dog was not picked up, he took my information and would let me know if he were to pick him up inorder to bring him home. I have never personally had this kind of kind humane treatment from an animal shelter Before so I am very happy with the staff! They also give free pet food. NEEDLESS TO SAY, my dog returned the next day, thankfully but I am sure that if he Is ever picked up due to a loose animal call from my neigbor, rest assured he will be safe and in good care until I arrive to pick him up. I highly recommend using THIS animal shelter. ♡

I love my fur baby I had gotten from them. Though this is not the official FB site, I hope someone from the shelter will see this in hopes of changing some things. I understand you all work very hard but I do wish they would give courtesy calls about someone’s loved pet when they go to get spayed. I didn’t want him to be spayed until after he was a year old and at a vet of my choosing considering they lost him the first round. If I didn’t give him back to the shelter to be spayed I would’ve had to surrender him to the shelter. So be aware when you go to adopt, read the contract thoroughly. I wanted to bring my baby home the same day and I never received another phone call after I was told it would be best to wait til morning to come get him.In the future I do not think I will go back to this shelter due to this incident.EDIT:I spoke with the manager and she was very polite and understanding of my feelings. She gave explanations to why and apologized. She updated me the next day to let me know and provided a copy of the contract and new paperwork.

Good selection of dogs, cats and kittens. Employees and volunteers take care of and truly love the animals. Prices reasonable - much lower than many neighboring rescue shelters.I adopted two healthy, playful and loving kittens who were obviously well cared for.

Please stop in to meet your next best friend, or to volunteer! They are full of animals and could really use the help. The ladies there were so friendly and helpful. I went home with some new foster kittens that need bottle fed!

I am new to Monroe County. Driving late yesterday I found a puppy at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere!! I am too soft hearted to leave it there. I took it home gave it a flea bath, food , and water. And some sleep the puppy was fine.And slept with me. I knew I could not keep him, so I drove from Sweetwater to madisonville to surrender the puppyThey were closed. And I did not know what to do. So i walked through the gate and the ladies there acted mad at me. They were rude and could see i was visibly upsetThis should not have happened. Where was their compassion? I questioned leaving the puppy there, but had no choice. I left in tears. My name is sheila gunn. Shame on you all!!!
