Delicious, delicious, delicious. Had the pulled pork sandwich. We ordered the large and split it. Pork comes without sauce but there are three on the table you can use. The restaurant is very basic and eclectic to say the least. It’s in the little village of Lynchburg just a short walk from the Jack Daniel distillery. Server was friendly, fast and efficient. Lots of folks there when we went. That means great food at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?

My wife and I did a late Valentine’s Day trip to Lynchburg, TN, over the President’s Day weekend (2024). When we asked about the best BBQ in the area, the most frequent answer was Barrel House BBQ. We got to the restaurant at 3 p.m. for a late lunch. The food was outstanding! I had the “Grilled Cheese Crack Jack” sandwich, and my wife had the “small” pulled pork sandwich. Small was a relative term for the sandwich, as my wife couldn’t finish it. The pulled pork was excellent, smoked perfectly, and served in generous portions. They had several BBQ sauces at the table, but the one that hit a home run with me was Scorpion Death Pepper/Ghost Pepper BBQ sauce. Lots of heat, but excellent flavor. I asked if they had bottles for sale, but unfortunately, they didn’t. My wife had the traditional sweet BBQ sauce and said it was one of the best she had ever eaten. We also ordered the pull pork nacho appetizer, and it was excellent as well. My wife only wished the cheddar cheese had melted a little more. We both had French fries with our meal, and they were very unique. They were cut flat into 1.5- to 2-inch lengths, fried crispy, and the seasoning on them was great. The atmosphere was down-home, and the price was very reasonable for the portions we received. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 because nothing is perfect, well, except the Good Lord. Highly recommend!

Wow—we happened into this place while waiting for our Jack Daniel’s distillery tour. What a delicious discovery! Their grilled cheese on crack (stuffed with pulled pork) is absolutely delicious. They have three types of sauce to choose from depending on how much heat you like. Side dishes are typical for bbq. We sampled potato salad, baked beans, and green beans. All good. The place is covered in signatures and other fun, local decor. A must if you’re ever in the adorable town of Lynchburg.

When you venture into Tennessee, the land of savory BBQ delights, anticipation for mouthwatering flavors is high. However, my recent visit to Barrelhouse BBQ in Lynchburg left much to be desired. The pulled pork, while decent, lacked the wow factor I was hoping for. The sauces added some flavor but failed to leave a lasting impression.Even the grilled cheese, a seemingly simple dish, fell short of expectations, landing squarely in the realm of average. To add to the disappointment, it seems the portions of sides have fallen victim to shrinkflation, leaving patrons wanting more.Overall, my experience at Barrelhouse BBQ was forgettable, and if given the chance, I would opt for a different spot next time I find myself in Lynchburg, TN.

This place is AMAZING! The food is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is awesome! We have been twice once last year, and then this year, on our way to Talladega, Alabama. I am not a pulled pork fan, BUT their pulled pork is very good, especially on the grilled cheese. This year, we tried their sausage, and all I can say is 1 pound was not nearly enough. Their mustard, named liquid gold, is fantastic as well as their habanero bbq sauce. I definitely recommend it. The atmosphere is very cool and welcoming. We will go back any chance we get.

The area this restaurant was in is so cute. Very old-timey. Lots of cute little shops, candy stores, and restaurants. We didn't wait to get seated and were served very quickly after we ordered. We ordered the crack sandwiches which they are known for...they were really good, B+. Typical BBQ atmosphere inside. I enjoyed our lunch here and would recommend if you are in the area.

Food was okay for the price. Not bad but not the best bbq ever, probably could make myself at a backyard gathering. Charming place tho, super cool that so many people have come through from all over the world.Vegetarian options: Aint worth eating here if you're into that vegan crap.

A little confusing to navigate to, however parking off street with all other shops is nice. Limited indoor seating and not really accommodating to large groups.Double stall woman's bathroom but separated by a curtain so recommend locking door.Food was excellent and a great price!! Three variations of BBQ sauce at table. Service was very fast.

Like many before us- after the JD tour wandered in for a bite to eat. Seated immediately, and it was a Saturday late afternoon. Immediate great service, and food was out in no time at all. Menu is brief, but has a great selection for everyone in your party.Funky atmosphere- we will be back. Oh, and owner stopped by the table to make sure everything was OK.

A fun inside and nice outdoor seating with incredibly fast service makes this place a must try when in the area. I had the pork with ribs, and I left satisfied with leftovers in tow. The pork was terrific, which paired well with their amazing sauces be sure to pick one up for sale. The ribs are what's preventing a 5 star from me, they had great flavor but were tough to get off the bone. The beans and potato salad were top tier when sides are often an afterthought at most bbq places. Get there early as there was a line into the street when we left.

A small place with good food! We dined here after a tour at the Jack Daniels Distillery. The tour bus driver suggested that we try the grilled cheese pulled pork sandwich and that’s what we did. We were greeted and seated quickly our waitress and the cashier were young but we’re not lacking in customer service. They did a great job attending to customers! Our sandwiches were delicious and flavorful. Definitely stop by for lunch.

Place looks great! Did get half slab and my wife had small pulled pork sandwich. Must say I was a little disappointed, perhaps too high expectations. There was close to no taste to the meat. No smoke flavor, no rub flavor. Had to use the sauce, which was OK. The ribs I had had no sauce/glaze on it and were borderline good when it comes to tenderness. The same goes for the pulled pork. Vinegar slaw was a simple slaw with good taste. Good and fast service even when the place was full. Walking distance from the distillery, no need for shuttle bus.

Quaint BBQ joint in Lynchburg. The dining area is uniquely decorated with whiskey barrels as the table top. The walls are covered with money from all over the world that traveller's have left and tacked onto the wall. The menu is rather small, offering Pulled Pork, Ribs and Chicken. No fries or okra.We ordered the Grilled Cheese Pork Jack Crack and a Chicken Jack Crack. The Pork Jack Crack was nice. The chicken jack crack bread was soggy, was thinking the chicken is in a consume and made the bread wet and chicken did not have a smoke flavor. Recommend going with Pork vs Chicken. Not overly impressed, there is a souther creoe restaurant next door I will try next time I visit.

This is a must! Was greeted as soon as we walked in, was busy, staff working extremely hard and very quick. Food was brought out fast and was absolutely delicious. Large portions, the BBQ pork was so tender and flavourful. Loved their BBQ nachos, large portions. Great atmosphere, we enjoyed everything about our visit and will definitely go back. Was perfect after touring the Jack Daniel's Distillery.

This place was fabulous! The perfect little hole in the wall BBQ joint! The staff was super friendly! The ribs were amazing! Perfectly cooked. I especially liked the sausage with the delicious mustard! For those wondering, you can purchase beer here... even though it's in a dry county. Do not miss this fine establishment if you find yourself in Lynchburg!Dietary restrictions: I'm dairy-free and gluten-free. They had TONS of options! Their BBQ sauce is all gluten-free and even the sweet potato casserole was dairy-free!!! I was in heaven!

The BBQ was reasonable, the ribs just slightyly dry, but tasty. Really enjoyed the smoked sausage. Slaw was rather average. Cool store with writing and cash stuck all over the walls. Staff were friendly

This little place is a gem in the small town of Lynchburg. We took part in the distillery tour and afterwards we’re looking for something to eat. Our guide Justin recommend here if we like barbecue. We started off with brisket nachos. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and coleslaw. I got the pulled chicken on crack jack. This sandwich was thick and I could only eat half. I would recommend this place if you come down here.

This is a conflicting review because there were 5* elements but also disappointing parts.5* Ribs - really, really good and 5* Pulled pork grilled cheese! Potatoe salad side was really good too.Sausage was served cold - it was tasty but the temperature was unappealing.Baked potatoe left a lot to be desired.Pulled pork nachos were definitely not that great and 1* Cheese wasn’t even melted. Too dry - needed some kind of sauce to dip in (maybe a queso or some kind of salsa).Service was SLOW - it took close to 1.5hrs to receive our meals.

They get 5 stars because the food was soooooooo DELICIOUS!!!! However it took 20 min for the server to take our order. We were set before a group that was able to get their food ordered , eat and , leave before our order even came to the table. The server was very friendly though. The great food made up for the wait. You gotta try to slaw, bbq, and sausage!

Good food. We ordered off the lunch menu. The pulled pork sandwich was overflowing. I had the sausage on crack sandwich and it was good and another in our group ordered the grill cheese on crack and loved it. The decor is a little cluttered for my tastes. Dollar bills and sharpie marking everywhere.
