I needed a good quality harness for a dog that's known for destroying one while wearing it. I searched every store that sells harnesses in Hixson and only found ones made of cheap materials and cheaply constructed. I finally ended up in Petco. I found a couple of well made harnesses with sturdy materials from different companies. Finding the correct prices was difficult due to the mess the harness section was in. Finding someone to help was also difficult. Once I got an associate to help, she was amazing and was very helpful. She didn't rush me to make my choice, she treated me as if I was the only customer in the store. She and the cashier both assured me that I had 30 days to return the harness if it didn't fit or wasn't what I needed. I gave 4 stars due to the mess the harnesses were in and the difficulty of getting help. If I could rate the associate I would have given her 5 stars.

It’s hard to find such caring employees in a big corporation but this petco does it right! Their staff members are very knowledgeable. I also appreciate how much time and effort they take to vet each customer before allowing the purchase of a living animal! Truly shows they care!

Casper was a fantastic trainer to work with! They made the experience fun and were very patient with my dog (who can be extremely goofy). I cannot express how nice they were and how much I enjoyed going to these weekly training sessions. Highly recommend. Thanks Casper! - Anna & Stevie

I love this petco. Every time I go to get anything for my fish, birds, or dogs , they always have what I’m looking for. The ladies in the fish depo are so friendly. Well everyone I have encountered there is nice! Clean store, shelves are always stocked , thank you guys for helping me get supplies I need to care for my pets!

It's always great going into petco. I have adopted 2 pets from you so far. Your employees are so informative and helpful. My most recent visit I took my new foster in to find her a sweater. I couldn't find anything in her size. The younge lady came over and helped me search the whole store for something in her size and on clearance. I greatly appreciated all of her help. Not many people take the time like that to actually help. Which I understand everyone has a job to do, but it's the little thing's that matter to me. Especially when you have a foster that's only 6 weeks old trying to jump from the cart. Thank you again young lady from the bottom of my heart.

Lots of reasons for a bad review, but the biggest and most troubling is the state of the fish. The betas were all in horrible condition, from filthy bowls to the fact that several were already dead, and from the looks of them had been dead for at least a day. I saw one fish on the ground.I will be reporting and spreading the word about horrible fish conditions at this store wherever possible.The only good thing about this store is the fact that there were no small animals except birds and one gerbil. Though, judging by the state of the fish, all the other small animals probably just died.

Poorly trained staff doesn't follow through on their own customer service systems. Petco offers a curbside pickup option - buy online, wait for "yourborder is ready" notice, click when you arrive, and staff comes out to your car in the curbside pickup space.These employees never come out. They ignore the "customer arrived" notice on their equipment. After being asked about it, it's apparent they don't even know what that notice means. "Oh yeah, it says you arrived." There were literally no other customers in the store at the time, and the visible employees were just standing around. Poor management at this location.

There grooming hours are wrong on the website and door. I’ve driven over 20 minutes twice, first I arrived at 5 for a walk-in nail trim as there online hours say grooming closes at 6, when i arrived it was closed. I drove 20 minutes again today and got there at 3:30, knowing the door sign says they close at 5 and was told they were already closed and was asked to come back first thing in the morning but i am not driving another 40- minute round trip. I also did attempt to call the first day I came to pick the most convenient time for the groomers for a walk-in (ie when they did not have many appointments) and no one picked up so I just drive over and should not have. The employees seem very kind but in 2023 it’s not that hard to update a website or pick up the phone. Also a rabies tag does not count as proof here which is not listed on the website.

New guy over the fish department is doing an excellent job keeping the area clean & the fish healthy. This was the 1st time in over 20 years I've bought fish from this location.I hope Petco allows him to keep making necessary changes & serving the public with beautiful healthy fish.That department used to be so bad, you could smell it as soon as you walked through the doors.

Sylve is hands down the best dog groomer we've ever encountered! She's a lifesaver for our nervous pup Truman. She goes out of her way to accommodate our schedule and always gives Truman the VIP treatment each and every time we bring him in.Though what truly distinguishes Sylve is her attention to detail and personalization. Our pup walked through some sort of fertilizer or pesticide, Sylve went above and beyond to take care of it. She meticulously cleaned and shaved his feet, and made sure all of the substance was removed and applied an oatmeal product to calm down the irritation/redness. It's this level of care that sets Sylve apart from other groomers for us.Even though we've moved since we first started bringing Truman to Sylve at Petco, we continue to make the drive because we know that he's in the best possible hands. Truman won't go to anyone else! If you're looking for a groomer who treats your pet like family, Sylve is the one to go to.Thank you Sylve!

Your grooming hours are wrong on google. Came in on a Sunday to have my dogs nails trimmed because google says grooming hours on a Sunday is 9-6. But apparently grooming is closed Sundays and Mondays. I suggest getting this changed.

My dog ,Chester, and I recently had the privilege of having Miss Casper as our fundamentals training class. She was amazing and patient with us both.. I highly recommend signing up for classes with her at the Hixson TN location.

Employee morale at this store is in the toilet. Employees seem to have no interest in helping or engaging customers. They appear to have no training, and no knowledge of stock or inventory. A plastic bag here costs $0.10, which could be a good thing if customers were helped to understand that the reason for this is environmental rather than punitive to the customers. I guess this is another company that has been taken over by private equity. They are like vampires sucking all the profits out of the business and putting little back in including little to no investment in employees. For these reasons, I hate coming to Petco. It is depressing!!! I only come here when there is absolutely no place else to get a pet product

Got to thank Peter and Emily at the Hixson petco they definitely are some awesome employees and deserve a shout out. I also have to say Peter is very knowledgeable about all the animals there but what really impressed me is he knew alot about the tarantulas they have in stock there, he did his research about there care and habitat and glad that this petco has stepped up with stocking spiders there. I wished cleveland petco was like this one. I guess I will be driving to Hixson alot more. Thank you guys

I walked around looking for help no one was available couldn't find what I needed there where stock all over the place I hit my foot on a platte jack, hurt my foot. This place is very hazardous a lawsuit waiting to happen. Never going back.

The groomers are so sweet to my two dogs and do a great job getting them de-shedded and clean! Peggy is especially wonderful and careful with my (very) anxious dog, giving her extra attention and treats to make her feel comfortable. We are thankful for the groomers at petco!

We have a 5 mth chichuachua puppy, 4 1/2 lbs. He is so tiny we've had a hard time finding warm clothes be cause of his size. Looking online, and several local stores we had almost given up. The petco store was close, they had 3 pieces (not priced) and went to register with them. A very professional Young lady, looked up price for each. We chose 2 pieces , our Rocky will be warm now.

Peter is a kind and gentle human being, first and foremost. I came in and had purchased KMR and unfortunately the kitten didn't survive and your great store allowed me to return it. Peter assisted me yet again and was very sympathetic and we chatted for a few minutes and you can tell that he is meant to be at that store and is very empathetic towards your customers. Yesterday was a sad day and the sympathy from your employee was exemplatory and I very much appreciated his kindness!

The lady was very quick to answer questions and give us tips about the glofish and aquarium we purchased. Will definitely be going back. We have purchased 11 glofish now and still love the service and friendliness we get everytime we go in. Great people and great products.

We was looking for a small dog harness for our new little puppy coco! The woman helped us tremendously. She went above and beyond to help us. She was to small for the smallest dog harness so she helped us find a simple cheap "kitten" harness that would fit her. She also helped us find a cute dress for her too! I love going to petco. I've never had a bad experience there.

Very upset at this place. We have gone in there a few times lately and there are 2 gerbils there. Their wheel is always over on its side. The employees have blown us off every time we said something. One looks super depressed and the other one acts very stressed! I'll continue to post the reviews on this place as much as possible! Someone please go get these animals and give them a better home. They deserve much better!

My white clawfoot frog that I got from here has died. It lived for a whole 5 days and then it was dead. The water was the appropriate temp, the Ph, alkalinity, ammonia, etc was perfect. It was being fed and everything. But it still died. I called to ask about getting a refund or a replacement and they said they can't help me because they don't know whether or not I killed it or not. But the other frog I have is still alive and so is the fish. This place is only good for supplies... not pets.
