We were welcomed by lots of friendly helpful humans, and the fur babies were all ready to meet their possible forever mom and dad, I was allowed to spend as much time as needed to see if there was a connection, in the end we brought home Mozzarella (now Bella) I really wanted to bring one of her babies home with me too and was hopeful that he would still be there after a couple of days, (not the case, he was too precious my heart was broken when we received the text he was adopted) however Bella is the sweetest dog ever, travels well and is adjusting, they made sure she had her shots and microchip and she will be scheduled to be spay. They were very loving to all the animals we visited.

Asked about the microchip in September, then my dog was stolen. I was ignored. Called and left several messages with all the information on the Carla lady, her number, and everything, but again was ignored. The screenshots should speak for themselves. They seem to care about animals when they have them, but if any issues ever come up, then it's not their problem. Definitely do not recommend dealing with these people.

I can not express how grateful I am for Rhea County Animal Shelter!! They found homes for 3 of our feral kittens we were so worried about. They were friendly and you could feel their love for animals.… considering how many strays there are it is a NO KILL shelter. PLEASE …SUPPORT them and try to spade the feral animals in your area. There IS HELP but we ALL NEED TO BE PART OF THE“HOPE” Again we say much thanks!!

They are amazing ppl sent straight from God. Me and my wife are going threw a houseless situation right now and couldn't bring our fur babies. They took them in and are fostering them until we can find a place to rent. We thought we'd never see our babies again. But by the Grace of God he led me to there door steps. Thank you Rhea Co animal shelter. Y'all are a true gift from God. I encourage anyone who can afford to to donate to them. Because they are doing God's work for animals

We have adopted and fostered with the Rhea County Animal Shelter and have had great experiences. They are friendly and supportive, and they clearly have a passion for helping animals find loving families. I'm sure my family will be back for more furry friends in the future.

We are dog lovers! We have a 6 y/o Brittany and we had 2 coonhounds show up here no collars think they got dumped!😰 one wandered off but the other stayed! RHEA came out picked up the Female then 2 days later the Male came back and I dropped him off! The staff are awesome great people!👍👍

I can’t say enough good things about the amazing staff at Rhea County Animal Shelter. They provided amazing care to our beloved rescue pup while he was in the shelter. I love the animals there. I adopted my second animal there, recently, but they would not let me enter where the cats were due to Covid! They had to bring cats to my car one at a time!I believe that they have so much going on in the cat room, they just don't want customers to see that mess! How do you have 25 pages of cats listed on the website living in such a small place?!Look on their website, find the 5 cats that interest you, and be ready to show them the ones that you want to meet when you arrive. The cats and kittens may smell like complete urine. Otherwise, you can't beat the price or service! Great animals!6 months after getting our cat, we have had 2 calls following up on our cat. I was very impressed.

We called to have them help with these 2 very lil kittens and one is in very very bad shape like going to die if we don’t get it help. They turned us away when we called and all because they don’t have a nursing mother they said! Like why does our county even have your place then or get you grant money if not for moments like this? Just wow. Thanks for no help.

I dropped off 4 cat's to this shelter I found along a trip. There were 2 adults and 2 babies. The 2 gentleman were very nice and eager to help. They told me give it a couple day's and they'll be on the website. This was back in June and I've checked every week and they're still not posted. I'm trying to find out what happened to those cat's? I offered to make a considerate donation but not without any follow up information and these cat's. When I call it's like a busy signal. Thank you!

We rescued 2 small mixed breed dogs that were dropped off in our neighborhood. The animal shelter gave us guidance and support to set up living area for the 2 girls. The provided us with a kennel and contact information to turn a fostering situation into a forever home. Amy Murphy Johnson and other team members from the kennel were extremely helpful. The shelter provides a safe haven for other animals and great care. Donations are appreciated as the staff is all volunteers and the animals care is the first priority. Thank you.

They r very comfortable place shady a guy was very cool and a lady with black cat is very strict making we r allowed in and I feel like a zoo is there. Great for lost pets ❤️

My visit started off well. I chose a dog and adopted him and THEN I was told he wasn't neutered or vaccinated for rabies. I also couldn't get a straight answer from them as to why he was there. I was told by one person that she thought he was an owner surrender, and then that same person told me after I brought him back (due to fear and aggression), that she told me he was a stray. I should have been told he was in the shelter for 5 months, instead I was led to believe he was new there. Also, after 5 months, why wasn't he vetted yet? (He is heartworm positive, however he was just tested a month ago- that's 4 other months that medical attention could have been given to him). I don't know how things work exactly at the shelter, but I do know that 4 months is a long time to have a dog around other dogs that hasn't been vetted (even the vet was surprised that he hasn't been in yet). Anyway, I wish I could say nice things about this place (other than some of their weekend volunteers being nice to me), but my experience was overall, disappointing.

Got a little pal from here, and to be fair none of the animals seem ignored or abused in any way she was perfectly healthy. BUT! Trying to get in touch with them is kind of a disaster. They asked me to call in a few weeks so we could talk about getting the new little girl spayed, to which i called every day for a week to no response, i eventually just showed up to talk to them in person on my day off. Apparently the place is just allergic to answering the phone

The kittens I saw were sickly, gooey eyes. The kitten I adopted had a respiratory infection. On the plus side the vet billed them for my kitten's treatment of antibiotics, shots, testing and more and the shelter paid it!They need a lot more room but they can't do it without Rhea County funding. Too bad the county government doesn't think a better animal shelter is as important as a first class library!

I would have given zero stars had it been an option. I am very disappointed in the fact that I wasn't able to speak to a single person representing this establishment. There are two different phone numbers and addresseS listed on the internet. I drove by both of them. Neither look like a shelter nor do they have signs up indicating a place of business. At some point, I was transferred to the sheriff's department who gave me another different two numbers to call, with no avail. I understand the majority of these places are volunteer based and it's appreciated but, the information needs to be updated and it would be nice to speak to a person when it's business hours.

Very disappointed in this shelter's staff. Had a bad experience with them today when they came to Chattanooga for a pet adoption day. I was completely ignored by the staff when I approached the pets and got very little acknowledgement, and answers when I asked questions. Very sad considering I was trying to get several of their pets adopted from others whom I know are looking for pets. THEN! It seemed they were judging me after I had mentioned that I recently adopted a 5-6wk old kitten and had 3 cats and couldnt take any more. Fortunately enough I have experience with this young of age kitten as my rescue cats before her were around that age when I took them in after being left in a box in the rain on the streets so....ya. also their furr babies appeared under feed, and putting a grate Dane in a small crate it cant even stand up and hardly fit to lay down in was sad to see. RHEA county people PLEASE take care of your shelters! These babies need help, and donations to your animal shelters helps a bunch!

I paid $125 to adopt a puppy, which supposedly covers the puppies shots, and being nuetered. I paid the $125 but they did not hold up their end of the deal. I called and left voicemails three days in a row and never got a response and eventually had to pay for them and administrate them myself. Most unprofessional organization I've dealt with, ran by lazy amateurs with zero people skills, and even less common sense. The only reason they got one star is because I couldn't give them zero.

I don't think there's one useless person working, if you have a dog running around your neighborhood that's either attacking people or just needs a new home don't trust Rhea county they won't do anything till next week and then they'll forget about it.
