Dr. Shelton and her staff are fantastic. We have been taking our cats there for about 20 years and have never been dissatisfied. When I lived in Knoxville I made the trip for my cat's exams. Live in J'bro now and drive from there. It's worth it to get this great care.

We recently moved here and the doctor and staff are wonderful. They took good care of our 4 dogs and 1 of our cats who was very sick. She saved his life. I don't know how long we have with him but for now, at least we've got him and she's helped so much with diagnosing his diabetes and giving us hope! Towards the end of our old kittys life we were bringing her in here constantly. The vet staff was so gentle and wonderful and Dr Shelton was so kind and patient with us the whole time, every time. They were able to squeeze her in for “emergency” appointments on several occasions when she wasn’t looking any better. Losing her was a huge heartbreak in our home and the staff was an immense support during our hardest decisions. On her last day and her last visit, everybody was there for us and our Little. They took care of sending her to be cremated at Carolina Pet Services of Waynesville and got her ashes back to us quickly and in a lovely box.We had adopted a three month old kitten shortly before losing our old gal and took him in for his first visit today. Just like with Little, the staff was so sweet and gentle with our baby Pounce and got him all his shots and boosters in no time. This is the most affordable vet we’ve been too with by far the best care our kitties have ever received. It’s incredibly clean and comfortable.We’re so lucky to have Dr Karen and the Unicoi Animal Hospital crew so close to home. Having had cats my whole life I can confidently say this vet hospital has been the best vet experiences we’ve ever had.

Very professional and efficient. My ex and I took her two dogs to have their nails clipped. It was quick and painless. Those two babies have nice smooth nails instead of the miniature daggers they were sporting around. Nice people.

I love this place compared to all other animal hospitals I have been to. The staff is very helpful, nice, competent, and patient with the animals. The prices seem to be very low compared to other animal hospitals. I hope everyone in the area goes to this place. It's the best. Thanks UAH.

The best there is. Doctor Shelton and Hannah have been taking care of my pets for years. Their prices are fair, always less than I expect. My dogs get into a lot of stuff, and the folks at Unicoi Animal Hospital always take good care of them.

Competent. Kind & Courteous. I gave Dr. Shelton carte-blanche; she recommended LESS than I expected; the cost was absolutely fair and a FRACTION of "big city" vets. So I find any claims of overpricing... absolute NONSENSE from intransigently unhappy pet owners. And my old dog is my Life!

Everyone I encountered was extremely helpful - either by phone or in person. They know our dog and cat better than they do us, which let's me know they are spending time with him. They have also been wonderful for last minute boarding of our dog and cat, even when we haven't been very good about planning.

So good to know that there is a first rate vet in Unicoi County. It's so important to locate a good doc for your beloved canine. I travel back and forth between states and I am thrilled to have discovered this vet. She is the best. Carry your animals updated medical history wherever you go. You never know when you might need it.

I've only just moved here. So I've only gone 2times. Both times was a great experience. Everyone including the vet are super nice and helpful. My dogs love them. The staff seems to have love for the pets. Which is A+ in my book. Prices are reasonable

Today, we had our first visit to this place for our 8 year old Puggle, and 15 month old English Bulldog. I was a little apprehensive coming here, because I've been to Robinson's in Johnson City, and we were forgotten about while sitting in the parking lot, noticed little interaction between our dogs and the vets/techs, and I was even lied on by the staff that I was cussing out their employees. When I admitted to being frustrated, but informed the vet that came to confront me about my language that I had a camera in my vehicle that has recorded all sound and video, I was told that being frustrated is just as bad as cussing them out, even tho no foul language was used. So, coming to this place had me worried. But the individual who came out asked questions, wanted to know about any concerns, and even got down to play with my dogs. I felt very comfortable seeing as how Robinson's employees never made that attempt. I am excited for the dogs to be here, and can't say enough good things about them so far

This place is unbelievable! Beyond high prices, no communication with their Customers about their animals our their prices. What should have cost us on 2 separate occasions with boarding should have been around $300 dollars... but what were we charged ?? Over $550 plus they ( without consent) after we asked for them to call us before they did ANY procedure, charged us $65 to put him under and while under charged an additional $20 to cut his nails, that aren’t even done properly! Plus used the meds we had to sedate him, before we picked him up because, he was a bit excited!!!! NEVER, NEVER will my dog or any another animal go back to this Animal Hospital... and I won’t even go there about how rude and UNCARING the staff is. Do NOT get sucked in at this sham of a Vet’s “Office”

Had a tough situation. Had to put a favorite pet down. My wife was completely emotionally distraught. I was pretty teary myself. The vet, Karen, handled it with a healing touch, handling not only the animal and what had to be done, but handling us, explaining everything, and we felt involved to the very end of our pet's life. It had to be done. It was painless for the animal, and saved her more suffering. The cost was very reasonable, and so much less than what it was worth to us. Thanks, Unicoi Hospital for Animals.

The lady vet has a lovely way with animals. My pug recently lost an eye and hercalm manner made a rather hard to doctor animal calm rather quickly.,, I was impressed.She knows what she is doing, it is nice to have a professional animal caregiver in our local area you can trust. I have had years of experience and myself have worked in vets offices. I will definitely keep going when in need of her services.

Not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. Every experience we have had with them has been terrible. We had high hopes after moving to Erwin from JC. I will be going back to my old vet in JC. First visit they made my wife waited an hour past appointment time, no apology. Then the tech comes in and never introduces herself or identifies herself as a tech or vet. Then vet comes in, no apology or even introduced herself. Second visit, 45 min wait past appointment time, no apologies. A few weeks later i made 2 calls and left 2 messages to have the vet call me so I can talk to her..never a call back. Then as my dogs condition is quickly worsening we asked for a refill on antibiotics to get us through the weekend. Never call, never filled the prescription. Had to call again on Monday to get it filled.Absolutely zero professionalism or respect for peoples time and clearly little concern for suffering animals.

Very gentle and loving with our cats (even though one of the said cats is a jerk/all teeth and claws). I keep telling them that if they need to sedate him and throw his booty in the vaccination cage just to get a stool sample that they should. But they never do! They care too much.
