We bought our husky "Elsa" from there!! Original name Husqvarna! What a friendly staff and great thing they do for the animals there. I hope they can all find nice homes. Our beautiful dog has been the best of the best and she loves her new home with us!! She is very very loved here!! Thanks for all of the knowlegde that you gave us on our new pet! And the resources to! Loved the tour of the rescue shelter!! I suggest to animal lovers or first time pet owners to look at these animals and give it a try! Its so worth it!!!!

I’ve been trying to get someone to answer the door and I’ve been calling for days now. I guess it’s just easier for these sickos to kill our animals instead of us pick them up! Multiple cars outside this is just one of them! They’re literally here and won’t answer the door or phone! Just sick!

We got our baby here! They really do a great job making sure you're going to be a good loving home for the animals. We did change ours name from Donald to Max. Love that they do help pay for half the neutering cost.

After volunteering here for over a year, I have to say they do the very best they can. Dyer County has A LOT of abuse and neglect cases. People don't vaccinate their dogs or give heart worm preventative in this area. There are limited resources , but by partnering with rescues, they almost ever euthanize for space . They save endless lives here. The community should support and be proud of DCHS.

I adopted a 9 wk old longhair kitten from these people. They assured me that she was in the best of health. I let her sleep with me to stop her crying and the next day I was COVERED with flea bites. It was so severe, I had to see my doctor who gave me a prescription cream (very costly). She was too young for any regular flea treatment, so my vet gave me pills for her to take for 3 weeks. That worked finally, but she was miserable during the treatment. Then, of course, I had to have my carpets cleaned; sanitize my bedding as well as my furniture. Between the cost of two vet visits, one doctor visit, and all the cleanup required, this kitten cost me HUNDREDS of dollars. Had I known I would have to spend that much money, I'd have gone to a breeder. However, I have fallen in love with the poor little thing so I will not give her back to these uncaring people. I've named her Gemma, Italian for jewel.I STRONGLY advise you to go elsewhere to get a pet.

Super rude staff who do not care about rehousing animals they don’t bother to tell you that you need an appointment then catch an attitude when you’re at the door and call also keeps an attitude when you call to ask if they have an animal they just tell you to go to some website that’s hard to use. I will not be adopting from this place and I feel bad for the animals in their care. They at-least need to be nicer over the phone and drop the attitude.

They need to spend lots more time in the shelter—— poor animals left all alone for hours and hours. And as well need more staff. I know it’s a hard job with not many benefits and so LOVE is what it takes!! The City of Dyersburg needs to make the shelter a business with benefits for the people that work there. People are animals just like our pets! We all need respect and loving care. I wish it was a better world! Thank you to those who care!

I just called this Humane Society and they were NO help at all! They told me “I guess you need to do some more research then, huh?” How rude.I live in Michigan. I purchased two Keeshond’s from a breeder who lives in Pocahontas, TN. The wife called me yesterday and said her husband passed away and she can’t take care of the (4) 3 year old Keeshond’s and the (1) 11 year old miniature American Eskimo she has. This lady informed me that is not in her county so it isn’t her problem.Tell me why she couldn’t help me figure out what county she is in? Why she couldn’t give me a phone number to call? What has happened to good customer service?

Cannot get the director to respond to our calls, regardless of what day or time. One of their employees, Corey, verbally attacked my husband at Dyer County Animal Hospital today, where his girlfriend works, because he thinks our chocolate lab is a pit bull. Why? We have no idea, but it certainly looks bad on the shelter, since he was on the clock. After his threats, we tried to discuss it with the supervisor, to no avail. Instead, we reported the incident to the police. We will consider any further contact from Corey or anyone associated with him to be further harassment.

Horrible horrible place! "Inhumane Society" is a more appropriate name for this place and it's negligent staff members. There is a designated place in hell for the individuals who have orchestrated this torture chamber and labeled it a 'shelter'. The only thing being sheltered here is the general public; sheltered from the horrific happenings going on behind closed doors. This place should have been shut down a long long time ago.

Really saddening that the newspapers in the cages for the cats are SOAKED with urine, cats are sleeping in their litter boxes :(Then I ask what the adoption process was, she explained that it is just as thorough as adopting a human child!!!! I understand you don't want them to be abused or neglected, but come on!!! They are locked up in those little cages 24/7, no name tags or info at all , my daughter and I both found 1 that we wanted and when we asked about them (after searching for someone's help for what seemed like forever) we were told that there are applications on those kittens, it would've been nice to know that before we started interacting with them!!!!!!!!!!!! Really upsetting experience!!!

Let me find out !!!! & I promise you I will find out, ALL things done in the dark will be brought to light.....

My son's dog was taken to the "humane society" which is joke! I asked if the dog was brought in and they told me "No, he was not". I asked if there were any dogs back in holding and I was told "No" by two different "employees". My son contacted the person that picked up his dog and he said yes that the dog WAS at the pound. These people are a joke! The place is nasty, it sticks, there is NO ventilation for the dogs or cats and is just gross all the way around. DO NOT DO ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS /ADOPTING FROM THE DYERSBURG POUND!!!

Hated the reason I was there but they got called on my fur baby getting hit by a car when he got out of the gate. They were very sensitive and caring folks that helped through this very difficult time.

The staff does the best they can with the resources they have. It has to be a very tuff job. Make a donation for any reason. Or better yet adopt an animal. Believe me your animal will know you saved their life.

For the most part, a really nice place & the people who work here really care about the animals. The smell is the only bad part, but it is a lot of animals, so it's understandable. ADOPT PEOPLE.

The only prob I have is that the smell will honestly knock you off your feet... Other than that issue they do a great thing by helping homeless or abandoned animals

I've always given to the Humane Society because of my love of animals. I've had good experience in the past but Dyer county Humane society tore it down.
