We stopped in for breakfast. Yes, breakfast in the market. Just go in and to the back of the store. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The food was good, but it wasn’t hot. 3 of us ate, and had coffee, for under $20. Pretty good deal.

I have shopped here my whole life, and I love having EW's in Dresden. But the last few times I have shopped here, there isn't an adult employee in sight, and apparently, no one to train the kids working. This trip was much like the last few. This trip the casher rolled my cokes to his buddy, getting them nice and fizzed up for me until I asked him to stop. Then, when I got to my truck, I realized the other boy had bagged my meat with my apples and tortilla shells. ???? Who does that? A 16 year old kid with zero training. THEN, another bag had 4 jars of Ragu in it with 2 cans of soup. It was so heavy! I'm sincerely surprised the bag held it all, much less the glass and metal all thrown in together. My last trip, I got home to find a good third of my cotton candy grapes ($9 a pound) squashed because they were bagged with my cans of tomato juice. I guess if I shop here more, I will have to supervise the bagging of groceries.... I would literally wait in line for a self checkout if they had it. Lol. Besides being run by untrained cashiers and baggers, it's a nice store. Prices are high, but that's normal for a small town store.

The price at checkout is never the same as it is on the shelves. Propane rings up higher if you exchange, everything I go to buy I have to complain about and they have to send someone to check prices. Super overpriced on most things, decent prices on others. I would go here more often if they weren't always trying to rip people off.

Since the remodel of the store everything is very neat, clean and orderly. But PLEASE will someone tell the managers of E. W. JAMES that their prices are Entirely too high. Us poor folks can't afford to shop there. 😔

Experience of shopping was fine with most of what I was looking for I found. Reason for the 2 stars is we are in the middle of a pandemic and not everyone (Employees & customers) was wearing masks. Sick of people not taking others health into consideration. I've had 3 nephews, 1 niece who didn't believe in covid who caught it and they felt like they was dying. Two neighbors did die in Dresden leaving their daughter to plan their funerals after not being able to see them because they was in the hospital.

This store while a little higher priced on some items than wal mart offers a more personal grocery experience. They have pick 5 foe 19.95 items still and that's a bargain in itself. The quality of their meats is far better than any other chain of stores and I'd prefer to go here than fight the crowds at the bigger stores anyhow. Highly 10/10 recommend getting your groceries here. Be sure to check out the deli area, they have awesome food and a good selection of sandwich meats and cheeses cut to order.

My ice cream is frost bit, I just bought it 20 minutes before serving it. Also, I wanted ice cream for my birthday. I was in the store for less than a minute to buy one thing and the employees were rude as heck and clearly didn’t want me to be there, even though another customer was coming in as I left. Open hours are open hours, it’s not like I stayed after hours buying all my groceries. Think before treating customers like trash as it might be their birthday. This is why I never shop here even though it’s a mile away.

Friendly service always nice to me. It is my hometown store and I like to support it versus running to the big buy everything store 10 miles from here. I do encourage everyone who shops here to watch the prices as they are scanned. What you pay at cashier is not always it is listed on the shelf. I bring it to the cashier's attention and they will usually price check it. Then they say it must not have been changed in the computer.. E. W. is making plenty of extra money if you are not watching.

The employees are pretty friendly, but none of them were wearing any masks & didn't seem to care to be there at all. So be careful what you're touching. The prices are much higher than they should be & their stock is very low on a lot of different things. The store didn't seem all that clean but it wasn't filthy either.

Groceries more expensive than Walmart but you generally get two choices in liu of brand name, on most items, which, in many cases, can be half the price. "Always Save" can be a much less quality choice especially when family members and home cooks are expecting a product that will accommodate what they have in mind to prepare. With that in mind, I sometimes choose name brand and pay the couple of extra dollars. This store is good at stocking top name brand items.

Had a reunion with friends down every aisle lol. If I can ever get the new layout of the aisles down pat it will be much better.There is nothing like a small town trip to the market. The employees treat you like family.

It's small and clean. Family owned. The prices seem high because they are. They don't have the buying power of big chains to force suppliers to lower prices. But they make up for it with friendly service. To me the slightly higher prices are offset by not having to deal with a Megamart and real people, no self checkouts, and fantastic customer service.

I enjoy my visits to this store. The cashiers are always pleasant. They have a very special bagger Alex I love when he carries my stuff out. John in the meat dpt is always eager to help you when you can't find what you are looking for and does a great job when you have him special cut some meat .. great job

It was a clean building with good sales. Cashier liked to lean on stuff a lot. She was young and you could tell she wasn't interested in being there. The building is smaller than others and it was hard to maneuver around displays and other customers. Overall, it was not a bad experience.

Very clean and well stocked grocery. Employees are friendly and helpful. Really great fresh produce department. Meat department has good quality meats. We shop here frequently.

The employee in the meat department refused to help me. I need some shaven steak. Said they wouldn't do it unless I purchased an entire $100 plus loin then had the nerve to show me the deli lunch meat.. I was in a rush and normally don't shop here. I most definitely won't be back. I will take my business to tates in greenfield. The people in the meat department there have always been great and wiling to help.

I have shopped at this store forever. Always great service and product availability,great associates THROUGH OUT the store to assist folks or answer questions.NOT ANYMORE !!! Their update to the store was needed for the freezer sections for sure.UPDATED on 11-23-2022 From most recent shopping trip. I SPENT $199 something on the 13 ,our benefit day.ON THE 14th I HAD $365 DEDUCTED IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK. EBT REP SAID "STOLEN".THEY SAID CARD SKIMMING,THEY HAD MY PIN NUMBER ,HOW ?? Cashier was nice, but others employees act like they don't even see you, there used to be a 6 block rule, where if a customer was within 6 blocks, the employee was to speak to the customer greet and ask if there is anything they needed help finding. That's out the window, you might hear about their plans for the weekend as they walk by you as if the customer is invisible and not the reason they have a job in the first place. What happened to the uniforms and professional appearance? This store has gone to the wayside. Go back to when James W. was the store manager and Mark E. was the assistant store manager. You wouldn't of seen anyone on their phones nor talking to each other as a customer walked by. Granted we had some rude customers, but as an associate we were never rude to the customer.

The store is so disappointing to me. It never has what I want. It sucks that this is our only grocery store in our town. I will not settle. We drive to Paris to go to Kroger for fresh produce. I went for fresh brussel sprouts tonight, of course they didn't have them, didn't even have the frozen ones. So disappointed!

Absolutely love that they keep everything original like the carts and checkout lanes. Staff is friendly and helpful, prices are decent, and they have just enough that we get variety without becoming overwhelmed by aisles full of one item each.
