Pros:Location at the foot of the Cumberland Gap, with a great view of the surrounding mountains.Friendly and welcoming staff.Decent price.Cons:Rooms need some work. Bed was squeaky and floors were creaky.Walls are thin and can hear people next door.Overall enjoyed my stay but there were some inconveniences that I was able to ignore, but others may not.

The hotel is positively charming, the owner is kind and the location is great. Some of the furniture and amenities show a little wear and age but this doesn't impact the overall feel of a quality space. And actually I enjoy it more because of the vintage appeal, not a cookie-cutter experience. I feel confident recommending this place for anyone to stay during a visit.

I am a little torn writing this review. The service was great. The front desk was super responsive and always friendly and smiling. Also, at the front desk you could grab a bottle of water on the house, free of charge which I found to be a nice touch. The location is good as this whole area is pretty remote, yet this Inn is close to Middlesboro, KY, as well as Harrogate, TN, and more, making it very centrally located. There are not many hotels/motels in the area. The only reason I gave this Inn 3 stars is because the rooms need some repairs and a little love. Having said that, the room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable and pillows plentiful. Also, the heater worked great! And the shower had plenty of hot water. The location and room worked great for us. The outside area is all very clean. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the rooms have a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The cons were mostly aesthetic: The room needed some repairs in the tub and paint repairs on the walls. The walls are thin, so noise is heard from outside or above and next door. Nevertheless, most seem to be cognizant of this and kept the volume down for the most part. Lastly, the room did NOT have a safe. Please note, none of the cons kept us from enjoying our stay here, and the front desk employees were a big part of that welcoming feeling. We would stay here again any time we come to visit family in the area.Thank you for the hospitality.

Rooms nice, but can't use AC because it blows the curtains open. But nice rooms. The owner is a bad person. I wanted to stay a few more nights so asked him for a deal when he was walking his dog and he snapped on me and told me he doesn't do deals with people like me and threatened to call the cops because I was drunk! Ridiculous!!! I didn't even do anything wrong and just walked away from the guy! He needs help and put on meds or something!

I was passing thru the area in early October 2023 and could not find a room in any of the chains for one night. Friday of a busy weekend. This non-chain hotel was recommended. They were almost full too but had one room left. It worked out well. I got a nice room for a good price. I was expecting a low rent kind of place but I found the Cumberland Inn to be just fine. Building in good shape. Nice view of mountain from front. No problems with anything. It is just not a chain place. There is no breakfast on site so I went to a local Hardee's. I would stay there again.

For the price, this is a good hotel. The room was clean and that is by far the most important thing. No carpet, which is great, and the place was being painted while we were there. Unfortunately, despite new paint there was still the lingering smell of smoke from likely years of smoking being allowed in the past. The decor of the rooms is out of date for sure but that doesn't really matter. The Internet was out while we were there which caused some check in issues but it ultimately worked out. The bathroom was nicely redone but unfortunately the water was not hot (at best it would get lukewarm) and that was the worst part of our stay. I don't ask for a lot in a hotel stay but a hot shower is top of the list, and I see from other reviews that this has clearly been a problem, and it obviously hasn't been addressed. The location is phenomenal, and you can walk to all kinds of great things in what is an awesome little town. The rooms have great views of the surrounding mountains, and a nice little back deck where you can sit and listen to the creek trickle by. If management would simply address some of the minor issues, this would be 5 stars for sure.

Nice, clean and large room. Provide in room coffee but no cream, milk or sugar substitute. I drink my coffee black with no sugar. My husband uses creamer and non sugar sweetener. Didn't work well for him.

This place is close to being a hidden gem. The building is fairly well kept, the rooms are safe, and climate control seems to function well enough. It is picturesque and a little off the beaten path, with a cute little stream gurgling behind the rooms (a real nice feature if you're on the ground floor). Tech here is fair, at best, however. My phone signal was non-existent INSIDE the room (T-Mobile), and the internet was also absent, as in none! I think the rooms closest to the office fare a bit better, though. The staff tried their best and were pretty helpful, though I probably wouldn't stay here if it was more than a quick night or two. Cumberland Gap is pretty and quaint, with a couple of yummy choices of bakery, coffee house, and a decent little restaurant. But the details count, and they are a bit sketchy at this inn.

Cozy, quiet, and very nice. We stayed two days we got a newly remodeled room that had an amazing shower. I didn't want to get. Out of it. The only down side was that there was a rolling black out which wasn't the hotels fault it was freezing for about 45 minutes but again not the hotels fault. Check in and out was easy customer service was friendly they however did not clean the room while we were there

We visited this area because my mother’s side of the family is from Cumberland area my Grandparents which are Jackson and Nivens , first time staying here it was a great stay older inn but it’s totally worth it. If you’ve watched Ghost Hunters it was on their show once because they say it’s haunted I assume it’s one particular room. The state park is awesome. We have visited this area several time even this past April 15,2023. You really need to visit here check out all the area it is certainly beautiful. It’s sits at what they call the three points area which are Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Here are some photos from the area.

Great for us!! Husband & I drove up from FL to tend to death in family & relocation of niece & service pets. Our 2 stayed in room until we finished task. Back 2 ours & front 2 are rehomed w/us. It was so nice to feel like we were at home at end of each day & each morning when having coffee. Back balcony was a wonderful addition to the room. It was in the teens & 20s outside but cozy warm inside. Dog friendly & privacy best for us. We asked for what we needed & felt comfortable about our privacy. The people were friendly & accommodating. Would stay again & visit town if we go back to TNRooms: Very open & roomySafety: Quiet little town & staff accessible most any timeWalkability: Did not get to enjoy that part but would be delighted if we returnNoteworthy details: They allowed us to park U-Haul on property nightly after loading daily. Felt Safe & secure our entire stay. Thanks Joe you were a great help during our overwhelming daily task. Your attitude & fur baby sidekick made a big difference in our stay.

We stayed a night here, the internet and TVs are subpar, especially did the prices you pay. Two neighbors were fighting, the microwave almost caught fire, and the rooms were mediocre compared to a best western or Hilton and costs the same amount. I’d prefer to spend the money on a better hotel. It is very nicely located in the Cumberland Gap. But, this place doesn’t offer much for what you pay.Location, great, rooms, quaint, plain and boring.

PROS: Good, clean hotel for those on a budget. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful.CONS: The hotel's Wi-Fi router is in the office, located in the middle of the hotel, and our room was upstairs at one end, so the signal strength was weak. Our room was directly above a room occupied by permanent residents with dogs, which barked early in the morning and late at night. There's another room below ours, one room over, which was occupied by smokers, and their smoke came right into our room whenever they were outside smoking.OVERALL: I would recommend this hotel for a stay of a few days or less, but for anything longer than that, I would suggest staying somewhere else. However, if you do stay here, I recommend getting a room close to the middle of the building if one is available.

Great place to stay. Fantastic view. Clean room with comfy bed and wonderful shower. But most importantly, the customer service and hospitality was remarkable. Our oldest daughter injured herself during our trip. She had to go to the ER and placed in a cast from thigh to ankle. Her room was on the top floor and Mike went out of his way and moved her room to one on the ground level, made sure she had front row parking, and than she had a pillow to take home with her to proper leg up in the back seat. Their kind and friendly staff made our stay welcoming and enjoyable. They will definitely get our return business.

Staff was friendly but it seems like they’re almost never at the desk, I’m sure they’re short staffed though. The outside looks a little run down but the rooms are very nice. Control your own thermostat, 2 beds, tv, and at a pretty fair price. Also on the back you have a little balcony with seating where you can get some fresh air.

I loved my stay here! It was an unexpected stay. I was here to go hiking after driving all night from Orlando to get to Cumberland gap. The woman at the front desk(I didn’t get her name) she was so sweet and very attentive. She went out of her way for me and I appreciate that. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. I’m still here and I’m hoping I can extend for another day. 😁

Wifi doesn’t work, Tv doesn’t work, balcony light doesn’t work, no lamp by the bed, you get a sheet and a $5 blanket you could get at dollar general as your comforter, no box spring, balcony chairs and table covered in dust, floors are sticky and uneven which is being picky but overall not worth over $100 a night. called for a manager about the tv not working and it’s been 40 minutes still no one here to help.

I rarely rate hotels with 5 stars, partially because I'm never in an upscale place, but I'm staying here for the first time and I'm impressed. It's a very clean, updated room and apparently they're in the process of updating more. Nice balcony overlooking a rushing stream. Great value! I'll be back.
