I'm not sure what this place is rated over 4 stars. Way overpriced for what you get. It's like they wanna cater to the hoity toity crowd but the presentation, quality, and service is lacking. The fish special was ok but the sides were sub par. The "pasta salad" was some angel hair pasta with a few olive pieces, onions, and Italian dressing. The sweet potato fries were soggy. A friend's "fried shrimp" came out looking like hush puppies. Totally unable to see them as fried shrimp.Service was so so. Slow on refills. Slow to bring the last plate of food out. Basically bused an empty table before bringing out the last plate.I'm not hard to please but this was awful. Gordon Ramsay would've come unglued.

It was delicious! We were seated immediately. Service was great. Food was fantastic. Bloody Mary was excellent. We'll be back.Features: We went Sunday, May 9 for Mother's day. My Mom lives at Pickwick Pines. We walked in and found a table right away. Our server(Ivy) was great. Food was delicious. I had the catfish basket & I'm extremely ticky about my catfish and hushpuppies. Both were fantastic! I live in Tupelo and there's no where here that I'll order catfish(except for an awesome Food truck). The slaw was delicious & those shoestring fries are always yummy. Wish JP's was in Tupelo!! Hint hints. I didn't get a picture this time. We were all hungry. 😁

I have dined at this restaurant for many years - even when it was Jon's Pier. I was pleasantly surprised about 2 years ago - food and service was great. But, each subsequent visit has been substantially below the standards of not only what this location commands but also the prices that are charged. My most recent visit will be my last - food was horrible, service was the worst I have experienced, and the building just isn't clean. $50 steak requires quality and presentation - the hamburger steak was better in both categories. Very unfortunate.

The food was great! We had the appetizer with cheese plate with bologna and sausage and quite frankly, it was the best one I've ever had! The service was pretty decent. We Ren out of drinks several times and had to hunt down some silverware. We were seated 2 tables away from what we later learned was the live entertainment for the night and we couldn't even carry on a conversation at the table. Next time we'll ask to be seated away from that area. Overall, I would recommend this place. I know I'll be back!

Had a craving for a cold fruity drink and a snack. We were quickly greeted by Jess and she suggested I try a “Tipsy Mermaid” not on the menu. Great idea Jess! My husband and I shared appetizers Steak on a stick and the fried crawfish tails both delicious (should have snapped a photo). Will definitely go again and will be looking for Jess!

We stopped by to grab some food. We got a large catfish basket w/ sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries looked burned and they gave us 4 thin strips of catfish for $22. Even our hush puppies were burnt to a crisp. My 1st and my last time going. High cost food and it was not what I expected at all so disappointed.

The place itself is great. The service was nice. The food was good but heavy. I did have the blackened grouper with a crayfish cream sauce but it was just very rich. The catfish nachos however were AMAZING! 👏

We used to live in the area and came back for a visit and decided to try the place one more time. The food was fine. The service was slow and not too friendly. (Could jave been is...who knows). When we walked in, nobody was up front. Had to go back it the bar. There wee 3 guys standing in the kitchen and only one person working the bar and tables.I have been to 3 company gatherings there in the past and they were always good. On all of those visits with just my wife and I, service was less quality than the food.

Great atmosphere! The entertainment on the patio was wonderful! Girl can sing and play! Service was good even though the place was slammed on a Saturday night. The portion of Salad I ordered would feed 2 people!

Our first time we went here for dinner was ok.The second time was absolutely horrible. The bartender decided to give me whatever kind of wine when they didn't have what I ordered. The food was terrible. I ordered Mahi and I'm not sure what it was and it was way over cooked. My husband's food had no flavor whatsoever. We won't be back and if I could give it no stars I would. Don't waste your time or money going here.

Heard about this place forever we decided to try it and give it a Review so here we go . This place had one of the best Ribeyes I have ever eaten . Drinks were good . SO why only 2 stars you ask ? Let me tell you why . First off we had a couple questions about the menu that the waitress had no clue about because she stated was her first day to which I understand. She asked if we wanted appetizers and we ordered the fried okra and the couple that was with us ordered the catfish nachos. After about 30 minutes I asked her if she would check on our appetizers and she came back and said they were on the next ticket. Our food came out and we started eating only to find that another waitress came to our table when we were almost thru saying our original waitress forgot to put in our appetizer. Why lie about them being on the next ticket, and why not put them in when I reminded her instead of lie. Not to mention there was a table of about 20-30 young golfersthat were drinking and so loud you couldnt even speak to the person next to you. May give it another shot, May not ... With that being said I will give it 2 stars........

Short staff made the wait for service and food long BUT our server was awesome and ambiance was great! I got the beef tips, they were a little fatty and chewy for me but I'm picky about my meat. Next time the burger!

Went on a Thursday evening had a couple of beers and the place was clean . Nice bartender she was cordial and met me and my buddy with a smile . The kitchen was closed so no opinion on the food . Sort of pricey for mix drinks . All and all 4 stars

Steak was cold. Showed up at 7pm didn't get the steak until 8pm. Ordered it medium rare and got it almost raw and it was cold. Plates were dirty, waitress was barely there, and bathroom was overflowing with garbage. For $107 this was very disappointing.

Me, My Wife, and another couple at at JP’s Down South last night. This was my first time to eat there.I looked on the website and noticed that you could reserve a table, online, so I decided to do that.When we got to JP’s, a sign on the front door stated that reservations were requested on the weekends, so we were glad we did that.Once reservations were confirmed, we were immediately taken to our table. The server was great, and very honest when we ask her about that nights special, Amberjack. She couldn’t make a recommendation, since she hadn’t eaten it before.Three of the four of us had the Amberjack, blackened on a bed of rice, with a great tasting sauce on it. The salad was very good. You got the fish and one side for $15.99; the salad was my side. The size of the portion was good, and the taste was great.My wife chose hamburger steak with mash potatoes and a salad. The hamburger steak was huge, and my wife said it tasted great. It was also $15.99; a lot of food for the money.For dessert, my wife and I split a piece of homemade strawberry pie; it also was very delicious.By the time we left, the restaurant looked to be at capacity, due to social distancing.We will go back SOON!!
