I feel sorry for the animals in this horrible location!! I went there to adopt a kitten. When I had pulled in the place was an absolute junkyard. The dogs were outside in tiny little kennels, while all the kittens were mixed together no matter the litter. I picked out a kitten and on the paperwork it said it was 8 weeks old. They also said the kitten had been eating food there. When I took him home I noticed he was not eating anything. I took him to my normal vet to figure out the issue. They informed me that my kitten was at most barely 4 weeks old and had been malnourished at the animal shelter. He was so malnourished that his organs began to fail and sadly he passed away. I don’t want to turn anyone away from getting an animal out of this shelter; you will be doing them a favor by getting them far away from this deplorable place.

I adopted this baby at Anderson’s, i tried to call different places that were closest to me but they were the only nice persons so i decided to go there, they ley me take my time and then paid 75 dollars( totally fair) and they even gave me paté for her, and she’s been the best❤️

Couldn’t make it on time yesterday due to their hours so I took a half day off of work today to go visit this shelter and adopt an animal. (Told them via Facebook messenger when asking about hours that I would be coming this afternoon just to make sure it wouldn’t be closed.) Got there at 1pm due to this being their hours listed on Facebook. There was no one at the shelter and had a sign on the door saying they were at the vet, so I drove to Oak Ridge animal shelter since I was in the area. At Oak ridge I ran into a lady that claimed to be their vet and she stated that they actually don’t return from lunch until 2 most days and they should be back by 2:30. It is now 2:40, I made the drive back and the location is still closed. If you’re going to close a business, at least post it to your social media page so people don’t waste their day waiting. Complete waste of my time.

I had a stray dog at work last night. I called animal control once they never called me back I called again and they said we won't have anyone able to come get him until the morning. So if you could either take him home or just let him go. I brought him home knowing it would just be until the morning. Now here it is morning and Noone will come get him or take him. I've been informed that I would be called back multiple times. And NOTHING. After this I hope I never have to deal with this animal shelter again! Strongly advise you go somewhere else!

12/28/20 - This is my 3rd drop off for domesticated kitties. This facility has always been kind, clean and busy. They serve Anderson County via Clinton, Powell & Rocky Top (fomally Lake City). They accept domesticated cats and dogs, but do Not handle wild or naturally found animals such as birds, snakes & racoon. You may have to find a neighbor or trapper in the paper, Craigslist or Facebook if you have any wild animals where they don't belong. (My secret is Cayenne pepper; sprinkle it all over the edge of your barn, shed or garage and it will deter just about every rodent you can think of until the next rain)They do a "3-day stray hold" by posting any found pets in local social media groups & papers for anyone who may have lost them. After that, they are up for adoption.Donations of cash, check, sealed food & water are always welcome.

We adopted a healthy puppy from them . They were upfront with any information they had about her and potential issues they were having. Wish the caring people running the shelter had better community support to improve their tiny facility.

We adopted our dog from here and she had parvo. We had her treated and it cost around $4000. Now our other dog is showing symptoms and we are going to have to pay for his treatment too. They have dodged my husband’s calls and are still allowing adoptions at this time.

Wasn't about to enter since it was so tiny and in a very junky trashy area,wasn't much bigger than a bedroom,don't see how pets have any space to run or get away from other pets. I certainly expected a normal traditional proper shelter, they might be great caring ppl inside but a much bigger place is needed

Had been looking for a puppy for months. The facility was spotless from top to bottom. The staff was friendly and all the animals there were taken care of like family. All animals have beds and blankets toys to play with. Not to mention are let of of the kennel and given plenty of. Not like most shelters and is a very positive thing. Reasonable adoption fee of 85 dollars for dogs of all ages. I'm unsure of the few for cats but there FB page is very informative. You practically get the dog for free and are paying for the vet care. Best place around to make a adoption or give a donation. Stop by and get a fur ever friend. We did and it has filled our family with a lot of joy.

I've tried for 3 days to get a call back or have Animal control to come out. Ive called every number i can find, left numerous messages. I have dead livestock and video proof of neighbors dog yet again killing my animals. This is the 3rd time I've had animals attacked, my kids chased and livestock dead. I can't get a reply from animal control at all. I finally just had to bury my poor babies cause I've tried for days to get anyone up here to see this and no reply, no phone call, nothing.

Dropped off some blankets and leashes here and of course got to see the dogs and kitty's that were there. I really loved Bob the hounddog.. and they have 3 puppies there that are so adorable. My mom feel in love with one of the kittens.

Honestly, with the recent light of the news.. it’s sad. The cats all seem fine, but the dogs are kept outside and they are living in their own feces and urine. The dogs are scared and their diet doesn’t help either. Please adopt these poor babies or let’s work together for better conditions.

We found a stray and she became my best friend. We couldn’t keep her because she was very scared around adults or anyone except me (12yr) and I named her Jupiter. I miss her but I know that she is in a good place with very friendly people and other very friendly dogs.

I feel that the dogs are being neglected and am very surprised that they can't be adopted since they are such beautiful and smart dogs from what I observed today.. it is very inhumane to leave the dogs in a little pen with no exercise or companionship.. I am a animal advocate and understand that funds can be very low in different counties but I'm sure it's possible to at least put a big fence around in the back sothe dogs can run around at least.

When we needed them the most they were there for us. Super friendly, knowledgeable and informative. The best staff around. The shelter was clean, organized and inviting. Not like some others I've been in. Definitely an asset to Anderson County!!!

Great lady working there today. We went to see if our lost cat was there and sadly no he wasn't but she took the time to look at pics and took our number just incase our cat gets picked up and comes there. Wonderful lady helped us alot. Place was clean and didnt smell. Ppl go adopt some pets they need us!

If I could give lower I would. I got a kitten from them Friday and I had to take her to the vet this morning. She hadn’t eat or drunk and water since we got her. So I called my vet and took her in this morning. She is running a extremely high fever and has an infection from her surgical site that was open!

I've tried for two months to have a dead dog removed from a ditch- poor thing has now been there for two months.. I have spoke to atleast five different ppl that have either not called me back or gave me another number to someone who then transfer me to someone else. Anderson county in general don't care about there animals alive or dead. So sad, I'd got the poor thing but it's in a dangerous curve... The poor thing has been in the ditch right past the dump on the left going down 25...

The gentleman that was at the front office of the shelter was very kind and ready to show us the dogs available.Their space is small and they have limited room. If you can or are looking to adopt please stop in and help this small little shelter.
