I’m not sure how long this cafe has been around but the food was AMAZING!We sat in the back watching how the customers interacted with the employees & vice versa. It’s a warm welcoming place that has live music on the weekends.The prices are great & you get a lot of food. I ordered the 2 Pc. Lemon Pepper Chicken on Rice $9.95 with brussel sprouts & deviled eggs as my sides. It comes with a dinner roll.My friend Charity Cruz ordered the 2 Pc. Grilled Pork Chops $11.95 with mac & cheese & green beans as her sides. It comes with a dinner roll.The only small complaint we had is they brought my food out before hers & it was a good minute before hers was brought out. So the dilemma is do I start to eat my food & hope hers arrives soon or do I wait & risk mine getting cold?You don’t normally see deviled eggs on the menu as a side. I’m glad I choose to get them! They were delicious. I’m new to eating brussels sprouts (like within the last year). Every time my friend orders them she always gets balsamic vinegar. I asked our server if he had this and he said unfortunately, no. So I was a little leery since that’s how’s I’ve always now eaten them but I went ahead and ordered them anyway. They needed NOTHING additional on them because they were seasoned perfectly! These were by far the best brussels sprouts that I have ever ate.The chicken was tender and flavorful. I wish the rice would’ve had some type of seasoning in it just to give it some type of flavor. It was just rice, nothing spectacular. The chicken definitely made up for it!The pork chops were very tender, they were unfortunately a little on the bland side. She added salt, pepper and even asked for A1. If they can get it to where there is seasoning coming through those pork chops would definitely be a 10!The mac & cheese was cheesy, but it too, was a little bland. She wasn’t a fan of the green beans, she said there was a sweet taste to them. I don’t particularly like green beans but I did try them. I personally didn’t taste anything sweet to them but then again, I literally had one piece on my fork lol.We will definitely be back!

Good home cooking with good home friendliness. Reliably tasty and pleasing menu options. Really large biscuits! Our glasses never ran dry. The server was attentive and intentional. Fresh-made baked goodies with takeaway easily ordered. Today, a beautiful peach cobbler made its way to the display, still bubbling from the oven. You won't want to miss this gem!

One of the best diners I have been to, weekends have live music which was very enjoyable the staff was super nice, very welcoming to us transplants!!! The food, oh my goodness, the food was amazing!! Desserts that were to die for. The butterfinger cake and the cheese cake was delectable. Also be sure to speak to John Wayne the town dog if you see him. He's just as sweet as the desserts there!!!

The country music band paid through donations was great! They had lively music and sometimes they have blue grass. I would carefully go to use the restroom as the space is pretty tight to get into both and be sure to carefully stand up from the toilet. Their seafood platter is the definition of beautiful southern cooking in a small town. Bravo and thank you for taking care of the local mascot!

Our motorcycle club of 25 stopped there for a bite.The servers were top notch and food was excellent. Great prices, great times and great meal.We will plan a trip back there again

I don’t think I’ve ever had better food even in the high dollar restaurants. It’s a place where everyone knows your name and if they don’t when you walk in, they will when you walk out. Just in Byrdstown for an overnight visit and doctor’s appointment but had three meals at this café and I wouldn’t recommend any other place.Chocolate gravy over biscuits. I’ve never heard of it before. Amazing. I don’t think that Johnny, the owner and cook for 21 years knows how to make a bad meal. From the coffee, to the breakfast, dinner and two homemade pies. I would go back to Byrdstown driving the six hours just to eat there again. Hey Johnny, I forgot to tell you on my last time in there - pie to go for the ride home, that I met your cousin Kiki at the doctors office and she said to say hello. And, your peanut butter pie was amazing and I heard no complaints from Karen about the coconut pie.Vegetarian options: lots of sides to choose from if you don’t want the burger, chicken, barbecue. I had fried green tomatoes and a tuna sandwich.Dietary restrictions: I don’t have any restrictions but I’m sure if you talk to any of the wonderful waitresses or Joni that they would do whatever they could to accommodate you. No question about it.Parking: there are a few spaces out front directly in front of the store and a few more maybe 50 feet away from the restaurant. There are also plenty of spaces around the corner and across the street.Kid-friendliness: It’s just plain friendly. Everyone is family, you’ll be adopted before you know it.Wheelchair accessibility: I didn’t pay attention to this, but I can tell you there are no steps to get into it from the sidewalk and parking is right out front

Yes. Even in the South. It is hard to find a restaurant where the grub is actually homemade. And good.Being a southern lady, it better be good as we’ll tell it like it is.Did I mention good? So good, you’ll want to slap your momma 😉😄.Actually satisfying & pleasing your taste buds & your innards in one place. Plus getting good food of what you pay for (especially nowadays).We are fortunate to have The Dixie. You will find all of the above mentioned at The Dixie.The only thing I didn’t like, there was no more of the Greatest Peanut Butter Pie The chicken strips are hand breaded with care. The batter is flaky & light on thick strips of chicken. No need to worry if you take leftovers home with you, these chickens won’t dry out in your fridge 🐔🍗The atmosphere is homely. 7 years ago, since day one that we’ve begun eating there, the attentive, hard working staff makes everyone feel comfortable; so you won’t feel like s stranger. In fact, you’ll meet new friends there.It’s a good thing we live around close enough, I can stop by or call ahead for that delicious Peanut Butter Pie that I missed out on yesterday. Now I’m hungry 😋

We had an awesome time here. The live music was great. The food was absolutely amazing! Huge portions. The price is cheap. if you go make sure you get there early to get a seatParking: It's on the town square. Most parking is on the street. But there is parking lots close.Kid-friendliness: There wad a couple kids there but doesn't give the kid vibe. It's more like music and dinner venu.Wheelchair accessibility: It's sidewalk level. No steps. There is no issues for wheelchairs. The bathroom are small.

Hard working Americans here! Ordered a burger with fries and BBQ sauce with coffee.Waitress attentive.Facility was clean.We had a large group and location was accommodating.Price to portion a little high but don't let that stop you.I would HIGHLY recommend this location for the family.

Ive been coming here for many many years. Always a nice staff, food is pretty fantastic, and there is live music on the weekends! Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu but my favorite is the 4pc catfish meal with 2 sides. Best catfish in the area.

This is a nice place. We were greated by a sweet server and told to choose a place to sit. After we sat in a booth she quickly served us drinks and fresh coffee. We ordered blueberry pancakes and biscuits and gravy. There were alot of items to choosefrom including chocolate gravy but we ordered regular. The food was delicious homemade tasting. The place had many regulars eating in there so service and food should be consistent.

What a TREAT this was. I had the Fried Chicken with Fried Green Tomatoes and Sweet Tea. It was DELICIOUS! Hand breaded NOT institutional style food. Some of the BEST FOOD around... ❤️❤️❤️And did I mention the homemade pies 🥧 OMG! PEANUT BUTTER PIE 😋Thank you such an enjoyable experience

Good food. Friendly staff... my dad had noticed that they didn't have any southern memorabilia..with a name like "Dixie" ..I understand... ( Dixie comes from an old mint in New Orleans where they used to make the $10 bill.. French word for ten is Dix.. so Louisiana area was called the "land of Dix." Dixieland.....interesting. 20 Stars! 10 Cafe!

I am not a local, but my best friend's parents are and they have brought me in to Dixie on several occasions now. I have to say it us a great little restaurant! The owner is a wonderful lady and cook! The staff is friendly and attentive! The food has always been amazing and the regulars and staff are very welcoming! I would ABSOLUTELY suggest this restaurant if you want good ol, down home, southern cooking and hospitality!
