This is such a neat place. Free museum. Donations appreciated. There is the Tina Turner portion housed in her old school house with some of her wardrobe from different concerts and award shows and such as well as other memorabilia. Then in the main building there is a section for the history of Cotton and a section for the history and wildlife of West Tennessee, and then a portion dedicated to musicians of West Tennessee. Very much worth a stop to explore this wonderful collection.

Best location ever recommended by a billboard! This was like a holy pilgrimage for me as I have been a Tina Turner AND Delta Blues fan since childhood. This museum combined both, along with displays of Native American artifacts from the area and wildlife common to the river delta. The museum staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help first time visitors. The gift shop is nice, but the keychain I bought broke within a week. Should have bought a mug, instead.

This is a great place to stop and stretch your legs on a road trip, or to visit if you are in the area. All the museums are free and the staff is helpful. In the main building of the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center you can learn about the history of how cotton was made, local artists, local wildlife, among other things. There are also plenty of travel brochures and a small gift shop. Outside of the main building you can tour the house of Sleepy John Estes and the school house of Tina Turner.

AWESOME!! we did a overnight through Harvest Host, our first one at that, and we loved it!! The museum was so cool and the gift shop. They are even Pet Friendly and was so sweet about our 5 month old barking at everything due to his excitement. If we are in the area we will definitely stay again. If you are not set up for boondocking/drydocking, you may want to reconsider there are no hookups. We wanted to try it and still loved it.#rvnewadventures#tinaturnermuseum

What a wonderful visit...we were in Sleepy John Estes 2 room shotgun home AND Tina Turner's one room school house. The center has incredible pictures and memorabilia of Tina Turner, including displays of her incredible gowns! It's well worth the visit, just for Tina's memorabilia, and if you don't know Sleepy John Estes...look him up and listen to his music! What legends! And they are from Haywood County Tennessee. Check out Brownsville Tennessee! What an interesting place! Don't miss Livingston's Diner, just off the Square, in the old US Post Office! If the Mustard Seed resale store is open; nothing over $20, and great home goods and clothing! Check it out on Facebook.

Small little museum and so full of history. You get to see the rebuilt School that Tina Turner attended as well as the rebuilt home that blues legend Sleepy John Estes lived in. Great history on other Jazz and Blues legends, some Elvis Memorabilia, great history on the Hatchie River and on cotton processing too.

Mary and Will welcomed me like family:) I spent 2 hours touring the 2 buildings outside and 3 rooms inside. Nice detailed displays of aquariums, music history, Tina Turner schoolhouse & life, local history and the cotton industry; among others. Also has gift shop. An extensive collection of tourist/travel pamphlets for TN and surrounding states. Please visit this little gem if you're in west Tenn:)

Super excited to have added this stop on our "musical camping tour". Tina Turner is a HUGE musical influence in my life and this opportunity to see and be inside an important part of her history was truly a highlight. Conveniently located right off of I40. Donations welcome.

FREE FREE - Don't miss this. If you are driving by and have the time this is a great stop. Good bathrooms hyes, but even better there are a few museums: cotton, country music, wildlife, even the school that Tina Turner went to. We spent an hour but a shorter visit is fine too.

A really nice place to stop in to gain a bit of history on several TN great music legends - Blues and the great Tina Turner who is in a class of her own! There too is the historical information about the beautiful West Tennessee area that includes everything back from the Civil War Era, Agriculture (cotton), and of course the History of the Hatchie River...so, if you are traveling along I-40 and feel the need to stop or just want to venture outside of the city for a little history on a road trip...stop in @ Ext 56 and spend some time Tina's old school house or walking through the museum.

The museum actually had three in total, a nature one, a cotton, and a rock and roll museum. It wasn’t as expected I wished the whole museum was about Tina other than that we like it. Although the other museums were very informational kind of hid the history about cotton but it’s ok.

A great museum, even open on Thanksgiving!!! Some very interesting exhibits, great fish tanks, especially loved Tina Turner’s old school! Incredibly friendly staff, loved sticking my pin in the map and ringing the school bell.

It's 5 museums in 1, with a gift shop, which is nice. The staff/volunteers were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The museums may seem a bit smaller than a large city, however, for the size of the town, they were more than adequate. I just wish they would put up more signage on I-40 to let people know the museums are there. There's almost no signage as you approach.

Fantastic stop along I40. Tons of music history showcased here in Visitors Center. Best part of the stop is the Tina Turner Museum housed in the one room blacks only school that she actually attended as a child living in the area. She donated several of her costumes and gold records.

I came in search of the school home of Tina Turner and found much more. This museum or treasure is located in Brownsville, TN and worth the experience. I learned more than I've ever wanted to know about cotton in their West TN cotton museum, the actual home of Sleepy John Estes, and of course the school home of Tina Turner! Most experience!

I saw Tina (& Ike) perform at a smallish club in Hollywood, CA, in the mid-1960s. She was a ball of fire and energy. I didn't pay any attention to him except on Proud Mary.Tina and Roberta Flack are among the few musicians I ever paid to see.

SO neat! The museum is set in her old Childhood school house which was moved to this location. So you can probably see everything in about 15 minutes, definitely worth getting off the road and stopping by!

Good place to stop on a road trip. The ladies at the visitor center were very friendly and welcoming and there were no entrance fees for either the center or the schoolhouse. The latter is filled with memorabilia from Tina Turner’s career. The house next door is equally, if not more, interesting.

The museum was decent with some blues history. I loved the fact that they moved her childhood school house here to view her artifacs.
