I did it! I made a slow meander one mile out to Stone Door. The trail is paved for the first 3/10 mile. There are benches there and a beautiful view where you can actually see Stone Door. The next 7/10 mile trail is dirt, some square timber steps, some stone steps and a couple short foot bridges. But, there are no benches on the trail nor did I see any at the bluff. I did rest in the rocks and then on the short fence rail before heading back. It's a beautiful walk. I took a hiking pole, water, snacks and a small backpack with a first aid kit.I saw many birds, interesting flora and Mountain Blueberries! So Sweet!I took my time, went carefully and slowly and got back in 2 1/2 hours.

Probably one of the best rewards on such a short and easy trail. About 1/4 of it is paved and can be easily taken by a scooter or wheelchair. After that it's a pretty easy 3/4 trail without much elevation change. At the end the overlooks are HUGE and can be enjoyed even if it is busy the day you go. Really nice bathrooms and up kept everywhere that I went. It took me right at 1 hour round trip and that was still soaking in the beautiful scenery. Go check it out and you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful park . The rangers are the best hands down . The woman that works the office is the most amazing sweetest kind human you'll ever meet. Pets are allowed leashed. Awesome trails and scenery. If you haven't seen the stone door you need to.

One of my absolute favorite hikes. There is a paved path all the way up to the first overlook. Perfect for those who are handicapped. There is an overlook viewfinder that helps those who have a common type of color blindness. I highly recommend it during fall!!! Getting to the second overlook is relatively easy and gets a bit more difficult once you actually get to the Stone Door. Absolutely worth it! Laurel falls is not far from the ranger station AT ALL! You need to go here if you haven't already!

I'm into waterfalls so I did stop at laurel falls before going to stone door. The cliffs were dangerous but fun to be in. The famous stone door takes you to laurel gulf but very dangerous hiking down the steps. You had icicles that literally look like spheres and the steps were on black ice yea my ventures are usually safe to a point where it stops because of a detour. I rather stop and go back. Life is too short to go even further. Beautiful hike in all bucket list check.

Loved hiking up here. Several old small trees with blazes down on the connector trail. Shortly after getting down to the creek, you'll lose the trail so be prepared to know the terrain to pick it back up again. Also, the rocks leading down from the crevice steps to the connector trail are covered in wet fall leaves so use extreme caution with foot placement on those rocks because you can't always see where you're stepping. I nearly broke my ankle but am thankful I had full height hikers on.

Very nice area. Bathroom and water jug refill. There is a ranger gift shop at the parking lot. A very short hike gets you to Laurel Falls. A short, paved hike gets you to the Laurel overlook. The overlook is wheelchair accessible.

The Stone Door Ranger Station has a kind and friendly staff. They are always willing to help and find good hiking trails. The bathrooms are nice and clean. There are other trails here besides Greeter Falls and Great Stone Door. Don't forget to try out the other trails. They are also beautiful, stunning, and fun.

This place is magnificent. Easy pleasant walk through the woods to get to the stone door and overlook. Don't go looking for a stone door but rather a big crevice between two awesome bluff rock that settlers and Indians, hikers in the present, used to make their way from below to on top of the gap. Hence door. The overlook is one to just stop and take in.

Having visited from Idaho I did not know what to expect in a Tennessee natural area. It did not disappoint. The Stone Door Trail I would classify as easy. The Laural lookout is very pretty although I missed the prime fall colors. Stone Door is a very unique sight and worth the mile walk to it.

The stone door is cool to pass through or just enjoy the view from above. In the rainy months, if you do go through the door, there are beautiful waterfalls to visit. The whole area will give any hiker a wonderful hiking experience.

Great place for a day hike! Trails are well maintained and the views are breathtaking! Plenty of exploring to do at the end of the Great Stone Door trail, and the Laurel Loop Trail is short and steep with a nice waterfall.

Well maintained with helpful staff. Stone Door trail and its overlooks are beautiful. The Laurel Trail Loop and falls are also wonderful, and are only a short hike from the parking area.

I have been coming to this park for 20 years. Always clean I'm not taking care of. Trails are always marked when the Rangers are there they are kind and helpful.Playground: Not much of a playground area that I have seen but plenty of places for kids to wander and have funRestrooms: Men's and women's restrooms on sight. Automatic lights inside.Dog-friendliness: Perfectly OK for dogsPicnic area: Multiple picnic areas and places to spread out

I went hiking. A rare, beautiful day for February. All rugged trails. Most are steep and challenging, some follow a canyon rim and have little change in elevation. Great geological features.

Nice clean bathrooms and water filling station near the trail head. Hike is great, but not for the beginner or the unstable. There are a lot of rocks/boulders that would be tough for small kids or the elderly once you get past the Stone Door.

Great place. Easy beginner rock climbing. Just follow the more eroded strata allong the cliff. Watch out for ticks, there are lots of them in these parts.

This was another tough one for us to find. The ride there was scenic as we snaked through the mountain passage up through Beersheba Springs. The hike up was moderate and seemed longer than the 1 mile stated but the views were well worth the hike. You can see the whole valley and stone door is a 1 of a kind experience. Definitely a must do if your in the area.

Went to stone door earlier this week. The water is flowing over Laurel falls. Which is a must see while on the way to Stone door, which is a 1 mile hike.Large vistas that can be viewed from multiple vantage points

With snow covered trees and cold mountain air, today's trip to the stone door was excellent. No matter the season it is a beautiful sight to see. Thank you mother nature
