The shelter is large and extremely clean. The staff are so caring and they handle the animals with love and respect. I recently adopted a puppy from them and the process was smooth (but safe and thorough), and they had great communication with us. Good people doing great work, love it!

Great, friendly staff! My wife and I have adopted two kittens here and very streamlined process, application can be done on your phone in a couple minutes. The hardest part of the process is deciding who to adopt! They had a good selection of ages, colors and varying amounts of socialization.

We adopted both of our beautiful dogs from here and I now volunteer here! It's very exciting and I love the experience! The staff and fellow volunteers are very sweet and help in any way they can. Definitely a wonderful place!

This place does one of the best things for a community. Far too often people get pets and do not treat the decision as a long term reality. This place is wonderful. They are diligent and compassionate. If I ever made enough this place would be getting money from me. I appreciate what these folks do. I personally have never been here. It would be too hard for me to do so. I want to thank the Heartland Humane Society and do a great thing and support them as best you can.

This place is Awesome!! We just adopted 2 little kittens who are sisters & the place is clean & inviting & feels very welcoming!! We drove from Spencer, Iowa to there place in Yankton,SD & they were very accommodating!! I would adopt from them again for sure!! I highly recommend this place!! 💖

Love our Humane Society! The facility is clean & the exercise yard is perfect for the animals. You can tell how devoted the staff & volunteers are as soon as you walk in the door OR attend one of the great fundraising events.

Heartland Humane society is the best humane society i've had the pleasure of adopting from. The staff is incredibly kind, caring, and the animals prove it! My friends and I have all adopted our pets from Heartland and we wouldn't change a thing. Their animals tend to be very well socialized, they are always wonderfully taken care of, and the adoption process is easy, informative, and they provide a microchip!I highly recommend heartland humane society for adoption or just supporting the work they do.

I absolutely love the humane society they have been really great to us and helped us with our animals getting fixed and take it in animals that we knew that we're hard to keep and helping us make a easy I love that we are able to go there and two volunteer I just spend time with the animals pand I love how they are still willing to help us with animal food to see the best for all animals all the animals in the shelter good fair and equal love I would highly recommend these guys to anybody bunch of great wonderful people 💖

They try to do a decent job. For regular mainstream pets, they are pretty good. I wouldn't go choose an off breed or specialty pet from them as they don't have much (if any) knowledge of those and you might get stuck with a cute but unworkable pet. Choose wisely.

I took a lost cat to Heartland this AM. The staff informed me it was my cat now and I could just take it back. I would like to but I have 3 dogs n can't have a cat. They then said they would just bring it back to the RV park and drop it off. What kind of place does that??!!! Also yelling there was a surrender fee as I was walking out the door. I would gladly have given a donation but their attidude was terrible. I am a summer RV person trying to do the right thing for an animal in need. Shame on your behavior.

They treat you good when going in to adopt a pet they gave one on one time with different pets to see you is the best match for you and for your forever friend I adopt missy and I love her just like she is my daughter

Just called, to help a dog that crossed the interstate. Clearly needed help, called to see what could be done and apparently they can't do anything that requires leaving the office. Pretty sad and strange if you ask me. They are better equipped to handle these situations but choose not to. What's the point of a human society if they don't help animals that are lost or in danger? P.s. dog had a collar. Mile marker 44 on hwy 29 heading south. It was an Australian Shepard and we did not see homes near by. The least the lady could have done was give me a number for a dog rescue....
