We've gotten two cats from here who were both healthy and well taken care of while there. They're both happy and healthy now and the staff seem genuinely happy to hear that. My only grievance is that I've called a few times for stray animals and didn't get an answer even during business hours. Neither are very photogenic but here's some cat tax.

Excellent people who really care about and for the animals they harbor! A lot of time spent making sure the animals are as comfortable and loved as they can be, and NO animals are put down due to space or time at the shelter! Generally more cats than dogs, but always worth a stop to see what they offer! Definitely give them a shot for your next furry friend!

Very nice and knowledgeable staff. A lot of these beautiful pets need a forever home. Highly recommended you stop out and make their day ❤ Unfortunately we didn't get the pet we were hoping for but it was a blessing in disguise as we got a different doggo a week later.

Absolutely floored. Went to adopt a year old mixed breed dog that i looked at the day before. It's previous owner went to jail and then the dog was picked up by the law running.I have a farm. When the lady found out that the dog would not be a house dog she refused to let us adopt. I told her that I had a doghouse with straw plus a barn loft full of straw. Guess she thinks a four by four concrete cell with no bedding but heat is better than a good home in the country with room to roam is better. This lady is totally out of touch with reality and obviously knows nothing about animals. Poor dog is stuck in prison because of stupidity

Absolutely the worst experience I have had. Took my mom to get a cat after she lost her cat. Was treated like we were horrible people. Director slammed the door on my mom's face. After filling out the application the worker lectured my mom about letting her cat outside. Told my mom she wished she would not have let her adopt the last cat. My family adores our pets. I hope this lady is happy that she broke my mom's heart. Absolutely horrible!!

We went and signed up too foster when they are in need. Talked about my son coming to volunteer on the weekends too. Both ladies were really nice! All the animals seem well taken care of. We adopted a cat earlier this year, and the process was easy. Plus my cat was spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and even micro chipped!

Brought my daughter in so we could see about getting a rescue cat/kitten to join our family. We had alot of questions as it was impoto now what goes into adoption. We were not treated very nicely from the start but I did not really notice it till later but was told by my daughter afterwards she noticed it right away. After 45 minutes of checking out all the cats and making sure we were making the right choice we filled out paper work only to be treated even worse which was extremely noticeable at this point. Making us feel as if we mistreated the 7 year old indoor cat we have at home horribly. They had to confirm with the vet that the cat at home had its shots which he did but one was not current and then from there it was a joke to even be there any longer. Think she was offended that I asked if the cat that was sneezing green snot everywhere could infect the current cats and we bring it home to our cat cause of her reaction to the question. Would never return there again for being treated so rudely from the minute we walked in the doors. Unfortunate for the animals. They could be missing out on great homes because of the customer service experience.

The girls at the shelter are so wonderful! I was so excited to add a new baby to my family. The shelter is so nice...all the dogs looked so happy. So thank you Caroline and Val for making me and Araya so happy. You do a wonderful job girls💜

Horrible attitudes with the staff. After talking thru messages they agreed to take some kittens that have never been house broken. Then wanted cash when the kittens were dropped off never mentioning cash in the agreement. Will never be going back that is for sure.

Two of our dogs have come from there. They took them from very difficult circumstances and cared for them until they were adoptable. The staff goes above and beyond to give every animal a chance to find a loving home. They are also active in the community. By far the most proactive, caring, knowledgeable, and genuine shelter that I’ve seen!

Called monday and was told they were picking up 4 weinerdog puppies from huron. Great as my 70,s year old neibor had to put his down afyer 13 years. To say the least he was heartbroken.Contrary to what i was told they have an adoption process where you have to apply in person. Ok but these are mixed breed [unknown father or size] with no shots and they are priced at $250No history and unknown mix? He would have $500 plus into puppy after getting shots and nuts cut. He is retired military living on a modest income. What ever happened to giving an old vet a break?I would imagine money is more important than company for an old guy who loved his dashound.Purebreed puppies with papers and known health histories cost a couple or hundred dollars .moreIts just dollars talking not the wellbeing of owner/ dog

I went there to look at the cats, and the 2 gals up front we're very rude to me. They acted like I wasn't good enough to be in there. They did let me see the cats, but told me that I couldn't get one because it takes a long time to process them. The gal in the back, was very nice, and she said that the two in the front we're too lazy to do the paperwork. She said to come back on a different day, when those two weren't there. I suggest you look into this, because it was very Poor customer service

today i tried adopting a dog for the third time. the first dog, they told me he needed a big yard to run around in and he was “too big” for where i live. the second, i submitted my application and didn’t hear back from them. i had to find out he was adopted by someone else by looking at their facebook page. today, i tried for the third. they told me they would keep him there and basically wait for other applications from someone with a bigger home. it’s not fair to me and the dogs. i will be taking my business elsewhere and i advise anyone living in an apartment or smaller home to look elsewhere too. thank you for nothing.

The worst experience. My boyfriend and I tried to adopt a dog from them and never heard back from them after we filled out an application. I called three or four times and no one answered. I messaged them on Facebook a few times before I got an answer and as soon as I said that I filled out an application they stopped responding.A few weeks later, I tried adopting another dog from them and once I said that I already filled out an application, they didn’t respond. I still haven’t heard from them and it’s super frustrating. They very easily could have said that I was denied instead of just ignoring me. They have awful customer service and if you are looking to adopt a dog I would suggest looking somewhere else.

Glacial lakes humane society is now under new management. The old manager was rude and difficult to deal with. You can tell she didn’t really care about the animals. The new management has really good intentions and truly cares for the dogs and cats and finding them forever homes. They’ve even added cat rooms so not all the cats they have are stuck in crates. Every dog now has a towel and a kuranda bed (unless it’s torn it’s bed apart and it’s being repaired). The dogs smile now which is a breath of fresh air. As far as the other two bad reviews on the spaying issue. From what I’ve been told the scar is very small from a spay and if they are not sure if the female dogs spayed they put on the dogs info card unknown or not spayed. just to let the vets verify that info as that’s their area of expertise.

Poor experience and really frustrating not the first time someone has tried to adopt from their and they decline them on multiple occasions. I’ve had friends and family that have never owned a dog. try and adopting and they get denied I’ve also helped out over their in my younger days boy do I regret doing that I will take my business elsewhere and I hope many do as didn’t want to deal with a breeder over charging but not to worry this place would much rather add to the dogs in their facility rather then let people adopt. And they also took 5 minutes to decide if I could adopt or not and they use a system to text you your results and you call in asking why and they beat around the bush 👌

You guys are extremely pathetic. Somebody without my knowledge brought in my cat late at night with a kitten. My cat is also microchipped this place made sure to charge me extra for that. I never received a single phone call that my cat was there. No matter the circumstances or not you should call the owner and see what's going on I didn't pay $100 for a microchip just to not be used. Donna would never let this happen and you guys are extremely pathetic I definitely give a zero star and I'll see you in court..

Rescued a beautiful dog about a year ago and I’m being forced to rehome her because of my town rules. Wanted to give her to this humane society but they said they were full..

I will never support this agency nor adopt from them again. My daughter adopted a beautiful dog from there. She was told the dog was good with other dogs and that she was not spayed. A few days after comming home the dog attacked another dog and tried attacking several others. We took her to get her spayed and she had already been spayed. So not only does my daughter have a vet bill to pay for the dog her dog attacked she has one for an unnecessary surgery. While we love the dog and we are keeping her it is obvious that they did not do a proper evaluation. When we told the staff this they said they had her in the office all day with another dog. This is not an evaluation. The staff member basically said it was not their problem. What happens next time they list a dog good with children and it's not!!!! Never again will I deal with these people.UPDATE- My daughter dogs has attacked several other dogs and unfortunately we had to take her back to the Humane Society. When my daughter arrived the staff member and director belittled my daughter to the point that another person had to intervene. After paying the surrender fee and returning the paperwork the director called the police on my daughter. After an hour of this woman detaining my daughter the police arrived. The police no reason that this woman should have acted like this or try to make up situations. After the kids of her dog , hundreds of dollars in vet bills and harrassme t feom the director, she received a hateful text message from the director at 9:30 at night.needless to say we will never support or return to this agency.

I saw a post on facebook Thursday night for a dog. I commented that I was interested and asked for more information. They replied with come down and check out the dog. Since I live two hours away I waited until they opened then sent two emails and a private message to see if they still had her. No response. I tried calling twice as well, but it said they weren't accepting calls. The next morning the post about the dog was removed with no reply made. Very disappointing and just glad I didnt waste my time driving up there for nothing!Horrible customer service

Buyer beware! My friend adopted two different cats at two different times from the shelter. The second cat she had for two days before she had to rush her to the emergency care. The cat died a day later from distemper. The vet bill was extensive but a heartache cost her even more. The first cat she adopted is awesome but also came with health problems. The cat has ringworm and after introducing two of my dogs to the cat, now all three of my dogs have ringworm. Being highly contagious, my friend who adopted the cat also has a ringworm. This is highly contagious for humans , dogs and cats. So all of the animals at the shelter I’m sure have also been exposed. There should be some kind of mandate to prevent them from adopting out sick animals and there definitely should be a moral mandate. If you are desperate to adopt that special animal you found at their shelter, I would ask for a current Vet record. Then I would bring my newly adopted animal immediately to the vet and quarantine them from any animals you may have already at home . I’m sure their heart is in the right place, as I hope all shelters are, but their focus should be on doing the right thing for the animals and their clients.

I have to say what a big change. The animals look healthy and the place is clean. I love the cats new housing and how well they look. Thank you for listening and carrying about the pets. Now we need homes to open up their hearts and take a pet in forever.♡♡♡

Terrible ppl and operation being ran at that shelter. They gave my daughter a sick cat. Few weeks later they told us to bring him back so they can take the cat to the vet to get checked out. The next day we go back to get my 8 year old daughters cat, they will not return are pet us. Claiming we gave him back which WE DID NOT! Thanks for steal a 8 year old little girls cat she got for her birthday. Absolutely god awful!! Now you'll go sell someone else's pet to someone else for a profit. Claiming to be a nonprofit organization.. reporting to the state. Beware of glacial lakes humane society.

You guys don’t even deserve a one star! How can you steal someone’s best friend and put it up for adoption, claiming the dog was abandoned and then turn around and say it was abused! Rebel was not ever abused nor was he ever abandoned!!! Quit with the lies and return Rebel back to his owner!!!! And if anyone is looking to adopt a pet from this shelter please, please be sure the pet doesn’t already have a home! This shelter is so desperate that they don’t care at all about these animals as long as their funding continues to flow!

Dropped my cat off there. Got bit by one of the animals in the office. 3 big dogs. No leashes. Roaming free. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Staff is very friendly and the animals are well cared for. The building was clean and there were no oders. I have been looking for my daughter's cat, and even though I have not found him, I have not had a bad experience here!

Wonderful place. Go there to volunteer when i have time. Genuinely cares about the animals. No-kill shelter. The only bad reviews are from prior management and the dog given back because of attacking is a large dog, it’s a guard dog. It doesn’t like strangers and it was probably scared because of the huge change in life and surroundings.

Love the new cat areas. It's nice to go in and pet the cats. My daughter got a dog at this visit. They only take cash or check, not cards. They are a no kill shelter.
