Dr. Nick is the best doctor we have ever had for our girls. All vets should strive to be as good as he is at his profession. He actually cares for his his patients. I wish more doctors actually cared for there patients well being like Dr. Nick. We wish him the best on his new journey. But no matter where he goes, my husband is a truck driver, to get our babies to him if they need a professional, caring, knowledgeable, kind help. He's worth the miles and time for the care he provides. We absolutely love him and utmost respect. He should teach other vets. He is the gold standard. I worked for a vet in Sioux Falls and California. None of them come close to Dr. Nick. Also Lid is spectacular. My girls love her. When we had problems with my oldest fur baby and than passed away, they were so kind and wonderful during this traumatic time. I have never been been so satisfied and happy with the treatment of us and our babies. They took the best care of my middle fur baby Hope when she needed emergency surgery. Love them all. We are losing the best vets and staff in South Dakota

They are always accommodating and extremely helpful. Dr Nick is thorough and knowledgeable. Found out today they will be closing the Vermillion clinic but we will be able to bring our pets to their vet hospital in Sioux City. Definitely will consider it even though we could probably find one that is closer.

My fur baby got into a fight with another cat on the weekend and so come Monday it became an emergency. The team at Vermillion Veterinary Clinic understand my need and invited me to be seen that day, I was truly thankful as Angel Bear was able to get treated and was able to save his eye. I was so worried that I became very emotional during the visit. The team was very professional and even let me take a moment outside. Overall, I rate this clinic a 10 because they covered everything possible and turned a very stressful emotional situation into something I could go home and take care of myself with medicine, My poor kitty is doing much better and I thank everyone at the clinic for their help and professionalism.

We have taken our dog here twice, and both times the staff were so great! The doctors are very knowledgeable, and the rest of the stuff is really kind and friendly. We were also able to make a day-of appointment when our dog got sick, which was convenient. Would highly recommend!

They overdid the anesthesia during my cats spay, and she passed away. She wasn't even a year old and was perfectly healthy, but her heart "stopped" on its own. Would avoid this place for surgery's.

Just had my first visit with my puppy golden retriever. All the staff were very kind and welcoming. Took care of my pup very fast and made sure I was comfortable with all of the shots and treatments they were doing to him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I had a very sick animal and it seems like all they cared about was the money and they weren't able to get me in and till the 3rd when I get paid and I have been a costumer for a long time and they told me that if she passed away to put her in the freezer and then bring her in on the 3rd and then they will help me I am going to be looking for a new vet that cares about animals and not just the money good bye and I really hope that they will get back to me on what I have said

We are very pleased that when our 15 year old dog who stopped eating and had tummy problems also diabetic, after calling three places around Yankton who couldn’t find any room to squeeze him in, Vermillion Vet made him an appointment and saw him that day. They took very good care of him. Also, on Sunday our little guy had a situation that was very scary and we called their emergency number and spoke with nurse. She was very patient and answered all our questions helping us feel better about our situation. I would recommend Vermillion Vet to anyone who would are looking for good care for their precious fur babies.Update: 7/28/2023 Nick and Elizabeth have been wonderful with our Gracie. Gracie has had some complications with the pressure in her eyes after cataract surgery and both Nick and Elizabeth rose the the occasion to release the pressure in her eyes making her so much more comfortable even though it was unfamiliar territory. Elizabeth listened so patiently to me vent my fears and frustrations and I should have done better at expressing my gratitude to her for listening to me and answering my questions. Gracie is so much more comfortable tonight and thanks to you both! I hope my venting did not put worries in their minds about the work they do, we do appreciate you!Updated 4/8/24 Gracie and her parents love the care she receives from all of the staff at Vermillion Vet!

Outstanding facility, well staffed, knowledgeable Doctor Elizabeth Smidt and her team. Has been caring for my cat and dog Saathi’s needs the last 3 years. Saathi loves his Veterinary visits, and eagerly looks forward to going there.The expert, caring advice I get from them has got my overweight but strong puppy down from 107 pounds to his ideal weight and condition at 75-77 pounds. I am thankful. I’d recommend them for all you pet needs. Peace ☮️

Extremely pleased! My sweet little old cat needed urgent care for a broken tooth, and they got me in within an hour. Dr. Nick was so kind and took great care of the situation. I appreciated how quickly we were helped and how professional and caring everyone was!

Went through them once (because of proximity) but will not be going through them again. My boyfriend called and set up an appointment for our pup to be seen on Monday the 10th at 8am. He went in on one of the colder days this winter bright/early just for the receptionist to say he wasn’t even in the system nor was our dog stating he must’ve called the Vermillion Vet in Minnesota..His call log proves otherwise as it has the Vermillion Vet’s number here in South Dakota along with the date and duration of the call. I overheard the entirety of the call as it was on speaker and a younger-sounding female took down his contact information. Also the receptionist brought up seeing our cat Luscious there before and proceeded to obtain the new details for our pup as well as confirm an appointment for the 10th. On December 30th, a worker allowed us to schedule an appointment just to say they never made one. I tried to reach out to the owner but nothing was ever resolved. Just a “some of our college kids came back so I’m wondering if that’s who you spoke to.” We will just drive the extra half an hour to Dakota Dunes from now on..seriously a waste of time!

Finally! A reasonable vet clinic! This place was affordable and the prices were better than I had hoped. The environment was rustic and relatable. I have been to one pretentious vet office after another, wondering if they cared more about money than animals. I am pleasantly surprised at this down to earth clinic. I will be bringing all of my animals here from now on.

Super nice people, our dog Zeke, absolutely loves these guys, they are so kind and friendly. They can almost always work around what works for you. Great people servicing a wonderful town full of furry babies! The vet also says, when it comes to exotic animals, he can do small and fluffy. Think like ferrets, rabbits, mice.

This last visit was EXCEPTIONAL! I have 2 very large strong dogs and brought them in for a nail trim. They are nervous nellies and hard for me to keep calm and so I stayed in the car with them until staff was ready for them. Staff knew I was in the car and came and got one, trimmed the nails, returned and switched dogs. This service was so helpful, I was/am very grateful. It was by far the BEST/EASIEST trip to your office for me. This was a game changer and will allow me to bring my dogs in more frequently. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

The staff were very helpful, friendly, and caring. Everything was nice, clean, and cozy; they even put out a poly tarp so my kitty didn't have to sit directly on the metal table! I can't think of anything that could have made this visit better, and I have already told several of my friends what a lovely clinic this is!

I brought my cat and my puppy to the new veterinary clinic and everything went smoothly! They handled my nervous cat with ease and she did not cry or show any signs of discomfort. The private exam rooms also kept myself and my pets separate from other visitors and any other animals. I was very pleased with my visit and will return while recommending this clinic to friends. ALSO, the veterinary tech was a saint and offered to help get my cat and my puppy back into my car. Going to the vet can be scary, but this trip was easy and all of my expectations were exceeded!
