We used the doggie daycare service for our two pups to give them a chance to get out of the car and hotels during a 3,000 mile trip. They received great care and the staff was incredibly friendly. Highly recommend to anyone in the Spearfish area!

When I walked in to pick up my dogs I expected to hear them barking, but I was pleasantly surprised! They get along fine and enjoy the staff!! It’s great to have a reliable boarder for my dogs!

We boarded our two dogs for a week during the Rally. The business was clean and the folks very pet friendly and professional. The dogs seemed to enjoy their visit! This was our first time trying this and we will definitely do it again. We booked early as I'm not sure how busy they get during the Rally. I highly recommend them!

Our dog Pepper seems to enjoy her stays at Spearfish Groom & Board. She's just as bright-eyed and enthused when we pick her up as when we drop her off. She has received good care while boarding here. All the workers have been helpful for questions. If we need to board Pepper again while in the Black Hills, this is where we will go!

Our puppy, Freedom is a fairly frequent guest at Spearfish Groom and Board, and he loves it!! The folks there love animals and it shows in all they do. He loves the play times ! The facility is very clean. Thanks for taking great care of Freedom!!

This place has always been our first choice when boarding our dogs, but this is what i would definitely improve; have a bigger area for pets. The small patio they have, during winter gets icy, and is too small. The back yard should be fenced and pets would have a better space to run around and play, or just lay down on the sun. The current patio does not allow any of this for pets. I know too many friends that i have referred but didn't come back for this same reason. Prices are totally competitive with other establishments that provide a little more space for dogs.Just a suggestion ..

This is not a fancy place, but it is well-built and well run and maintained. But most importantly, the people are SO nice, and they take such excellent care of my pets that I feel good taking them there. The staff members chat with me about my dogs and cat in a way that shows attentive kindness and caring (as well as competence), and my pets respond to them as friends. It means a lot to me that my animals recognize where we are, so they know I am going to leave them, but they are not fearful or stressed about it.

Staff is very friendly! Kennel was nice and clean. My cat doesn’t like dogs so they gave him a spot as far back and high up as possible. Might be helpful in the future if they had a totally separate area away from all the barking dogs.

I’ve used this place several times to board my puppy and never had any complaints. This last time, she was there for 11 days while I was out of the country. When I arrived this morning (6-19-22) to pick up my dog, the lady went in the back to grab her. I guess she was having problems putting her harness on, because I could hear her yelling and being mean to my dog and I was appalled. I’m guessing she didn’t think I could hear her. She ended up bringing my dog out without her harness or leash on (probably couldn’t get them on her) and I was so worried someone would open the front door and she’d run away. Being a bloodhound, it wouldn’t take much for her to pick up a scent and be gone/get hit by a car. Anyways, if she was mean to my dog while I was in the lobby, it makes me wonder how my dog and other dogs are being treated when I’m not there (or other customers). Debating on ever using this place again honestly.Edit to add: The owner called me the day after I left this review and basically told me the worker has special needs and that she’s aware the worker has anger issues and is, “working on them.” I don’t think she should be left alone with multiple dogs if she can’t handle it, or has severe anger problems. I love my dog so much and I’m sure others love theirs so much too! Also, she tried downplaying the incident, by basically blaming my dog because she’s a Bloodhound and Bloodhounds can be, “hyper” and “hard to control.” Won’t ever return to this place.

We did not have a good experience. We took our two dogs, we had 2 separate gallon baggies with each dogs food. Each baggie had the dogs name, how many times a day to feed and how much. These instructions were also provided upon check-in. Each baggies had about a cup extra of what they would need. When we picked up our dogs one baggie was only half empty and the other bag completely full. So it appears they did not feed my dogs. When we tried to address this they were very argumentative and said their “paperwork” indicates dogs were fed. The “manager would not shut her mouth long enough to even have a conversation. I don’t know what they fed them but it was not the food I provided. I also asked that they not give any treats other than what we sent. Not one treat was given so I honestly do not know what the hell took place but I guarantee my dogs were not cared for very well and we will never return!

We have taken our dog Jax to Spearfish Groom & Board two times this summer and he looked good both times we picked him up. He is a small Boston Terrier and lets us know if he is unhappy. I like the atmosphere at Spearfish Groom & Board and the people who work there are very nice and like pets.

People were very friendly and even posted pictures of Barney after his grooming. Only thing I could complain about is how short his tail hair had to be cut. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting. I was not told ahead of time about being charged for me not picking him up right when you texted me. I was thinking you were going to call me. My dogs have stayed at spearfish groom and board several times. The staff is lovely, and they always have comments about how your pet was during the stay. I love that they commented how dramatic theo was during his nail trim, because he is if I could give them 10 stars I would.

We took our Labradoodle here to get groomed and they did such a nice job. She came out with a cute bandana on and seemed like a happy pup! 4 stars because I asked for them not to cut too much fur off because we love how fluffy she is, but she came out looking like a short hair poodle so it was a little surprising. It'll grow back I suppose!

We had to board our dogs for 15 days when we went on an Alaskan Cruise. As nervous as we were to leave our dogs somewhere, we were welcomed with happy dogs upon our return! The staff did a great job exercising both of our dogs, one of which is high energy, as well as abiding to any rules we had (such as separating our dogs when they were eating).We've also had both of our dogs and my cat groomed and bathed here. I have never been disappointed with treatment or the look of my pet when I pick them up.
