This Safeway is our go-to grocery store. It's the nicest grocery store in Rapid City South Dakota and the only grocery store on the west side of town. They usually have a good inventory although it does get picked over especially on weekends. The staff is always very friendly considering how busy the store is. The deals are really good if you pick stuff that's on sale otherwise the prices are fairly high and comparison to Walmart. Safeway and Walmart are really the only main options in Rapid City other than Family Fare and that place isn't quite as nice. This location does contain a Starbucks which is nice and it's in a shopping plaza that has a hardware store and a good Cajun restaurant so it's convenient.

This is about a pharmacist and the way I was treated back in December. I needed a medication that was out everywhere else in town and they had it there. I called and asked them to fill it several hours before I went and when I got there it wasn’t filled the pharmacist with long blonde hair about late 40s came up to me and said who told you we even have this? (My dr called them) Well you can’t have it because insurance won’t pay for it and I asked to fill it anyway with a good RX coupon I was having severe withdrawals from this medication. I needed it right away. I didn’t know which form the med was that was prescribed(ER vs IR) so I pulled up the wrong good RX coupon and the pharmacist grilled me about why I didn’t know what the prescription form was when she had the prescription on her computer, and she could have looked, told me and I could pull up the right coupon. she grilled me in front of a crowd of people waiting for their prescriptions and as I started to tear up to try to explain to her why I needed it because of the symptoms she crossed her arms and said I’m not giving it to you . *Mind you, this is not a controlled substance. *This is not a prescription that anyone would abuse at all, and she acted and treated me like I was drug seeking. I started to cry and now I’m crying in public and she said well I’m not giving you this if you don’t know what it is. she then said your prescription will will be ready in two hours.(what?) I just turned around and left and got a text within 20 minutes that the prescription was ready, and that my insurance had covered it. I can’t believe the cruelty some people can show to strangers. I am a nurse in my 50s and I can’t imagine if an elderly person or compromised person had to experience that . I’m still upset about it. Shame on you .I don’t typically leave reviews but this incident really bothers me. I’m sorry to anyone she has done this to

Good quality produce and meats. Here's a hint also for those who like the bread baked daily in store: Pick up a loaf of French or anything that generally comes unsliced and ask the bakery to slice it for you. It'll fit in your toaster and you won't have to make a mess trying to slice your own bread!Only negatives of this store is the restrooms could use updating, and the check out lines are incredible during peak hours. The cashiers need to speed up to keep up with their "three is a crowd" policy.

Decent selection of groceries. Just a little bit more expensive than the local Walmart, but do-able when you're in the area and don't feel like going to Walmart. 😉

Fantastic service from the night workers. Stopped in to grab dinner and the staff was awesome i had trouble finding a product when j asked the lady at customer service she didn't just point to the area she took me to the product!!! I belive her same was Sero. When I was checking out I did not receive my Just four you discount and the manager on duty was super helpful and honored it without making it a big Hassle unfortunately I did catch his name. I wish I received this lever of service during the day.

Clean store with a speedy checkout process. Had most of what we were looking for with a good selection for the things they had in stock. If I lived locally I would stop here for several of the day to day items and still shop elsewhere for some other specifics. We didn’t engage the staff, so no comment there other than our cashier was friendly.Only pic I took was of the hard liquor. Not used to seeing that in a cage. Made me laugh.

Front row parking for the Unprofessional to say the least. Unsafe to say it all over again. Lazy to boot. Customer service has literally become an 80s term.I don't shop at Safeway often and will do it even less now. Pathetic excuse for professionalism. Definitely a fire hazard blocking part of the drive lane 👌

The homeless population in the area leaves a lot to be desired.. on my way there I witnessed this gentleman leisurely urinating while laying on this bench that is in front of the store. To be honest, it was an impressive skill, but not on a main street where women and children could easily see.Safeway did a good job on the order. It was my first time doing pickup order, it was convenient to pick up the next day since they were running behind the night before.

The good is it's right next to the gas so you can use fuel points easy enough. It also has the basics and can usually find what we're looking for.The bad is there's frequent times we can't find what we need with out of stock items. Some staff seem highly confused when asked with basic questions.The worst- the bathrooms are ATROCIOUS. Every single time.

Good experience. The checkout guy was super friendly even though we showed up right before closing time. It wasnt super clean and prices weren't mind-blowing, but we got what we needed and had a nice time doing it.

Minor issue with the cashier named Inez. Pretty sure The cashier Inez was being a little racist but the Beautiful manager wearing a fabulous pink business suit resolved the issue.

You’ll generally find what you need here, and the sales can be very good. The reason for the three stars is because of the cleanliness. The bathrooms in any store speaks for the entire operation, and here they fall short. The store itself is a bit disorganized and in need of renovation. Rapid City is growing, and Safeway along with Family Fare are the only true grocery stores in town. Maybe there's a lack of care? This particular store will go the way of many that didn't keep up with the times. Employees are nice and friendly which is a huge plus. Head across the street to Family Fare and the lighting is bright, restrooms clean, floors shiny and you feel good about shopping there. Safeway could do the same thing, but for some unknown reason why, they don't. Proper cleaning isn't complicated or expensive.

This was a really nice Safeway with plentiful assortment and product. I only got a couple of things here and used the restrooms. Employees were very helpful. Nice food bar and wings station.

Good friendly and helpful staff. Always clean. Gluten Free selection is decent I wish they had more and had more in stock ( I don't think they order enough stock). I do absolutely love his they label their shelving Gluten Free!! It makes shopping so much easier!!! Also having it available for their online app is great too.

Only two checkouts open @1000 on a Sunday….during the Sturgis Rally. This store is FAR too crowded for so many endcaps.

It was fine. Normal as far as grocery stores go. Alcohol, deli, bakery. All the fixings you find in a good size grocery store. In order to get the good sale prices you had to put in your phone number.

I just stopped here to use the bathroom and get a drink. I saw they had sushi so got some. They have really good low cost sushi.After I left the store, I discovered my pop my son had grabbed for me had already been opened and someone had drank some of it. I went back into the store and explained to the first worker I saw. She was very kind and understanding. She told me to go get a new one. No fault of the store that some customer opened a pop and drank some and put it back, but who does that?

This is the first time I've seen prices jacked up for "non-members" for a GROCERY store. This wasn't Sam's Club or Cost Co or some other big-box "members" store - its a Safeway, a "chain" grocery store! We felt we paid "convenience store prices" - where you'd expect to pay higher prices - at a national chain grocery store.My wife and I are not locals, and we have no Safeway stores near where we live, so buying a "membership" seemed to be a poor idea - but so does paying significantly more for the things we purchased. We felt we'd been ripped off because we were just staying in town for a few days.Next time, we'll look for a WalMart.

Not a bad store higher prices. Also their sells end on a tuesday but you can not get the sale items on monday because they are completely out of most of them. Granted they are popular items like 1/2 gallon of milk for 97 cents and kraft mac and cheese for 25 cents a box. Still would be nice to have BOTH stores in town carry the item thru the day it ends not before.
