LOL about people rating this place for dog food.This place is great for prairie dog lovers.Owner was so friendly when we arrived right on 9am on our way to the national park. We stumbled across the ranch store.So many great souvenirs to purchase but the highlight is definitely buying peanuts to feed to the little prairie dogs. They are so sweet.

Peanut bags were only $1 and we had a lot of fun tossing the food to the prairie dogs. We were amazed by how close we could get and how much fun it was! The prairie dogs seem to love living here and the owner was very kind and friendly. There were also a lot of fun items in the store.

An 'appetizer' before Badlands National Park. You can see billboards after billboards of this store on the interstate. Prairie dog viewing is often a hit-or-miss. If you have not had the luck yet, this is your best bet. Did I mention you can even feed these adorable little creatures? Some of them may be shy, but some seem to enjoy free food. Initially we were curious of what prairie dogs eat but it turned out the bags of prairie dog food that we bought were simply peanuts. Got to support local business, right? If you are still not convinced to stop by, your children will. Highly recommend this business if you enter the park through the northeast entrance.

Take a break from driving, and check this place out. Prairie dogs, yes you can feed them. 1 bag of peanuts cost 1 dollar. The kids had a blast. Plus great store inside.

Such a cute, fun stop to do, You can drop your money at the shop outside in a box and then grab your peanut bags. We tried giving them the peanuts with the shells and they would not take it until we started taking the shell Off and that's when they grabbed it.

This is such a fun and convenient stop! We fed the Prarie dogs and checked out the store. They sell all kinds of goodies and have cold drinks and ice for sale too. Stop by and check it out, but watch out for that little rascal badger!!!

I purchased the chicken superfood complex and the beef liver Treats . My two dogs loved it and my cat actually put her whole head in the bag and got herself a kibble. Yummy food for dogs 🐕.

Located in the same area as the Badlands and Wall Drugstore, the Ranch Store is an easy location to watch and feed a town of Prairie dogs. The owner is congenial and happy to answer and questions. You can purchase a bag of peanuts to feed the prairie dogs. Plenty of opportunity for pictures and videos and a couple of “selfie” locations. No cost to roam around.

If you are in the area, this is such a fun stop to make! The prairie dogs are adorable and so fun to feed :) Make sure you support the Ranch Store and protect the prairie dogs from harmful foods by only feeding them the unsalted, fully shelled peanuts from the store itself.

Stopped in at the end of our Badlands drive because I wanted to see the prairie dogs. Although I got the $1 bag of peanuts to feed them, none of them were very interested. They weren't very afraid of humans as long as you didn't act like you were going to try to touch them (It's not allowed anyway). So I was able to get quite close for pictures.The store had a nice selection of shirts and other souvenirs as well as cold drinks. And a small cooler with ice cream bars which was a nice treat after the hot day. It was a fun way to spend 15 minutes or so.

Such a fun place! The only spot we visited twice on our trip. The peanuts are not expensive and the prairie dogs are extremely excited to see the brown paper bags lol. The ones up front are more social than the ones out back. It’s so fun to watch them wrestle and play and be social with each other. Definitely worth the experience. It’s also the only place we bought tee shirts.

The people working here are extremely nice. If you want to feed the Prairie dogs, it only cost a dollar for a bag of food. You get a good amount of food for the price too. The animals are friendly and will eat right out of your hand. It's a great place to stop either before or after visiting the Badlands! I highly recommend this place!

This was one of our absolute favorite places to stop on our trip to the badlands. For only a dollar, you could buy a little bag of peanuts to feed the prairie dogs! I think my husband and I went three or four times because the prairie dogs were so stinking cute! Some of them don’t want peanuts and only want to eat grass, but they are still friendly enough that you can get some good pictures!

This is another great addon stop on your way to the Oglala Living Village just under a mile down the road. Here they have all things Prairie Dog. You can give them, get really close (within a foot) of some of them and of of course you can get souvenirs. This is also very close to the Badlands National Park which is also another must see.

Love stopping here whenever we drive through. Fun to visit the well fed prairie dogs... Can buy food for them onsite, $1 a bag for unsalted peanuts in the shell... Worth it to see the little rascals running about and yelling. So much fun.

They only charge $1 for a bag of peanut for the prairie dogs on the ranch ground. This is the best place to have close interaction with the cute animal.

We had no clue this amazing stop was right before entering the Badlands national park. We are so glad that we saw this place and had the experience to feed the prarie dogs. We are on a 38 day road trip around the country and we will always remember here.

They got things spruced up, looks nice. Little souvenir shop and prairie dog village. They sell bags of unsalted peanuts to feed their prairie dogs! The only place that you are encouraged to do that.

Maybe it’s just my dog but….She loved the free sample! The sample bag is almost the size of the regular dog food bag but somewhat smaller. She is a picky eater so when she gobbled down the sample bag I felt I had finally had found one she liked. I was anxious for my big order to arrive and when it did I filled her bowl with the amount her size called for. She gave it one sniff and turned and walked off never to return! I was beyond disappointed. Has anyone else had this happen? Love the sample, hate the regular ordered bag?K. Lindsey, Fort Worth Tx

We ordered over $300 dollars worth of food 6 weeks ago. After 4 weeks we started contacting customer service to find our order. All we got was it shipped and finally a tracking number through USPS. Why would you send this big of an order USPS. Still have not received it yet, today 7/6/23. And customer service acts like once it has been shipped their job is done. We have had to go and buy other dog food because we have not received our order. Very very disappointed with the customer service and even though my boys love this dog food it is not worth the hassle and the cost!!!

Best $1 I've ever spent and hands down best tourist trap on the planet. Man those prairie dogs sure do love peanuts. I could've fed those chunky pups for hours. Can't wait to go back.

i have three dogs and they love this dog food. They eat it like it’s candy. I’ve never seen anything like it.Two of my dogs are elderly ,… thirteen and years old and her mother is fourteen. I have noticed a remarkable change in their energy levels. They have regained some of their youth.. This food is really helping them and it’s very rewarding for me knowing I’m giving my dogs something that they love and knowing that the nutrition is wonderful. Thank you Kathryn and thank you Badlands!

Nice little stopping place! I liked everything at the store. I like that the penuts were only a dollar. I feel like most places would make their stuff super expensive with feeding food. But these guys it was only a dollar. The only complaint that I have is that the prairie dogs did look quite chubby. Which I mean it is understandable because they are handed food all day. Most of the penuts I wasted because they wouldn’t even eat them. I don’t really know how you would solve that problem. But I got a penny with a prairie dog riding a motorcycle so I think that’s pretty cool. I would recommend this place as a stopping point if it is on the way.
