This motel is being remodeled. We have stayed here for several years and it was always a little iffy but they are remodeling and we were very happy. New flooring, painted, new bathroom fixtures and new heating/air conditioning. For the price, you can't beat this. Its a small motel which is what we prefer. We like to park in front of our room and have access without going thru a hotel. We will definitely be staying here again. The new owners are very friendly and they're when you need them.

We reserved a room with 3 beds, which was great because we had 5 people. We didn't expect to get a 2 bedroom apartment style room. It had a full bathroom and a sink and shower in one of the bedrooms. We loved that! The shower in the room didn't get warm very fast so we just used the other one, no big deal. It has a cool little deck with a waterfall across the parking lot. Cool area across from a great restaurant. This place was great and I loved the no hassle feel it had. It felt like being in mayberry or something.

If you're coming here to sleep, you're in the right spot! The bed was very comfortable and clean-smelling.Points off because the room was already occupied by a swarm of house flies- not the worst kind of bug, but still. The room came equipped with it's own designated for swatter! And, we didn't try the shower. After looking at it closely, It felt cleaner somehow to just not take one.

Would highly not recommend! First thing we noticed was the floors and carpet were stained throughout the room, and the window AC had a few air freshener sticks jammed in it to cover up a smell. I then pulled the blankets back to check the beds and found holes, food crumbs, and *period blood* stains on the mattress cover! I can't believe this motel would rather wash raggedy, ripped up blankets with literal period blood stains on them then spend the money to buy replacements. Just made me and my wife feel gross knowing there was likely much worse in the bedding that we couldn't visibly see.Once we did finally get the stained sheets off the mattress was AWFUL and had a huge crater in the middle of the box spring - the entire night my wife and kept getting "pulled" into the middle of the bed because it was broken. Between the mattress and the shredded curtains pouring light in from outside we didn't catch a wink the whole night. The outlets in the room were also broken and just pushed into the wall when we tried to plug our phone chargers in, and based on the outlet "extenders" we saw everywhere I'm guessing this has been a problem for awhile now.On top of all that, I about had a heart attack when at 2AM the ancient window AC unit started shrieking like a bomb siren going off. Guessing between the mechanical shrieking and car air fresheners shoved in it that maybe the AC units needed to be replaced awhile ago.We paid $93 for a single night in our room because we thought it would be a kitschy little country motel, and all I wanted was a cheap bed that I could sleep in after a 13 hour drive - unfortunately I can't hardly picture a worse motel stay then the one at the Sioux Motel.

A clean place to sleep, I would stay there again.I am grateful that I read reviews though!I DID call about a week ahead and made a reservation. BUT, I also called a few hours ahead, as we traveled to check on it, and am pretty sure they put me down for the last available room.Their system is simply a page in a notebook with the room numbers and who they assign to them. Therefore, any reservation made ahead of time is no where to be found.

Pricey for what you get. One of the beds was missing the top sheet upon arrival. The office replaced it when notified about it. Both our rooms had tubs but, one was missing the stopper and the other one the stopper leaked terribly, emptying the tub before you could finish. There were light covers missing. The rooms have actual keys not cards to enter. One of the rooms had a funny smell to it. Very outdated.

The staff was really accommodating. Allowed us to use their grills, we got the pick of the rooms, and they were nice to our children. Also clean rooms, cable TV, wifi, and a cute outdoor sitting area with small waterfall that is very pretty.

This is a great motel. Its older than most but it's still a decent place. They let me check in early without even paying because I didnt get paid until a few hours later. The staff working is very courteous and appreciate the business and will go out of the way to make sure you are happy with your stay. Will stay again if I ever come back to this area again. Family rooms also available with separate rooms for personal space. Cable channels and good water pressure.

I WOULD NOT recommend this hotel. I had called in a reservation for a busy Friday night. I was NEVER offered an email confirmation, but I did ask for a confirmation number. I then called back a few days before arrival to double check, but I was left with an ill feeling in my stomach (I should have listened). After a lot of driving, we arrived at the Sioux Motel at 8:30 pm. The reservation system was handwritten in a spiral notebook and the clerk had NO record for us and NO rooms available. She also made no real attempt to help us locate a room (we did eventually find one, but it was extremely disheartening to feel like we had no place to stay through no fault of our own). Please be extremely cautious about booking here.

Had a reservation on this property, called to confirm reservation and our late arrival on the day of as we were driving from far away. When we got there the front desk person (the same one we had confirmed our reservation with earlier) could not find our key so she gave us her master key. We entered our room to find someone sleeping in there. Went back to the front desk and she told us she didn’t know who was in that room, it was probably one of her staff and that she didn’t have any other rooms available. At this point my credit card had already been charged for the room and the front desk person told me she did not know how to process refunds and so she would pass on to the next day worker that it needed to be refunded. I called the following day twice and on the second call was told they found my credit card receipt and would cancel my transaction or provide a refund. This did not occur and I was charged for a room that I did not get. Tried to call the motel again and now they are not answering and their voicemail is full.

My niece and I were road tripping and found this sweet little place. The staff (both of them) were very courteous, the room was clean and well stocked. They have a few antique cars parked out front that were fun to look at and a nice little sitting area complete with a fountain. I recommend the place.

We made reservations through Expedia early in the day and got to the motel at 11:50 pm due to running late. When we got there the doors were locked up and notes for other in the door with their room numbers and saying the keys were in the room doors. I called 4 or 5 times trying to get someone so I could get my young kids in a bed. I finally had to call the hotel that we were to stay in the next night that was another 2 hours away to get rooms. I’m sadly disappointed. Nothing with the reservations stated we had to be there by a certain time.

If you can stay somewhere else, do so. The room we got was supposed to be non-smoking and it definitely smelled like people smoke in there. We had to spray perfume and open the door to help ventilate the room. The carpet was disgusting and it hadn't been vacuumed in who knows how long. The towels didn't look so clean either. But other than that, everything else was ok.

Clean, but no coffee in our room. When the lady saw we were brown (Native American) she charged us $30 more than when we made the reservation online. Pretty racist for someone who's business is named the Sioux Motel. She was very rude to us when I asked her about her "native" decor that was likely made in China or by her white hands with trinkets she bought at hobby lobby. She didn't say anything about her Confederate flag hanging on the stair banister behind the front desk.

This is another iconic mid century inn. What sets it apart from many others is that it is EXTREMELY well maintained and clean. The booking process is not exactly twenty first century; I found it on Google Maps having stayed there before, and had to call from down the road. In the style of the accommodations, I used one of those new touch tone phones. Then I paid fiddy bucks for a very nice room, shoulder season. The parking lot was the cleanest I have ever seen, but that may have been assisted by the ubiquitous South Dakota wind. Original lighting fixtures were a treat. I requested a late checkout and was accommodated with much less hassle than some high-brow places. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Much better stay than at Wall. Or Mitchell. Oh, and check out the car that was in the lot in my pictures!Across the street is a ranch themed bar and restaurant that looks like it could really swing some nites, but I was there mid week before tourist season. Couple pics of the bar in my photos as well.

Had booked two rooms online a couple months ago and showed up after a very long day of driving over 11 hours.... The office is dark. No one there, no one answering the phone. Nowhere does it say you have to check in by a certain time, we got there at 11:40 pm. Apparently, that was too late. Thankfully the Super 8 down the road had two rooms available. The guy there said that he has had others come get rooms due to the Sioux Motel not being open to honor their reservations. Not happy to go through that hassle after a long day, plus having to pay more money per room than planned.

B E W A R E ! ! ! Would have give NO STAR but that was not possible. Made a reservation for the "last remaining room" for the night. Secured the reservation with a credit card and told the lady at the front desk of estimated arrival time of 8:30pm. Should have clued in that the place was not reliable since the person who made the reservation didn't know whether the room had a queen or king bed. My husband and son drove 500 miles that day and arrived at 8pm to no reservation. I called and spoke to a gentleman who couldn't find the reservation despite giving my credit card info and security code. He said he would check one room and call me back. I waited and finally called but no one answered. He never called back. This place is not reliable and perhaps preys on weary travelers. They don't care for common courtesy or decency.V E R Y D I S A P P O I N T E D A N D W O N D E R I N G WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CREDIT CARD INFO! ! !

We made our reservation at Sioux, but were placed in a room the American Inn across the street from the Sioux (both are apparently owned and operated by the same people). Clearly the hotel has not been redecorated or refurnished since the 70s, but it was still reasonably clean and comfortable even though it did feel like we'd gone in a time machine to 50 years ago. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. However the AC unit was ancient and scary looking, and the breakfast room wasn't opened until 8am and even then only consisted of toast, plain unfrosted donuts, and off-brand sunny-d. Not bad for an inexpensive room in Nowhere, South Dakota if you aren't expecting a good breakfast or any frills.

The room was nice enough but there was NO hot water when I went to take a shower at 9:45pm. We were also unhappy that no breakfast of any kind was provided despite the fact that internet listing show it as breakfast included. When my wife asked about this there was no attempt to rectify this or make restitution of any kind.

I called on behalf for my sister to help her out being locked out of her room, the owner Bonnie was very rude and not helpful. Arguing with me and calling me a liar and accusing me of having an attitude, she is the one with an attitude, thr after hours emergency maintenance phone number is a complete joke would NOT recommend this place. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.
