Stayed for 3 nights with my sister here and I think the worker needs a promotion. She is amazing and goes above and beyond. She does everything herself and goes from morning to night.a lot of upgrades need to be done and our bathroom window was shattered although at first I thought it was made that way. Room was clean. Date of visit: July 21, 2023Note name of motel: Dakota Lodge/Love HotelsAdequate little motel in Murdo. Has a bit of a vintage feel and could be a really cute go-to place with a little more effort.Room was clean as were the two queen beds (although the mattresses felt a bit older). Bathroom was tidy and there were 4 luxurious thick bath towels and a couple of washcloths; no bathmat though so we had to use one of the towels for our wet feet upon exiting the shower. Water was hot and felt good after a long day on the road. Room also had a small table lamp, microwave, small fridge, wall mounted tv, cafe table with 2 chairs.Air conditioner was set at full blast so room felt deliciously cool after a long day driving.There is a free continental breakfast in the room directly behind front office. Offerings were danishes, granola bars, instant oatmeal, bagels, coffee and orange juice.Not sure if they have an ice machine as we forgot to ask.The young couple running the place were polite and courteous.In general, I think this place is a diamond in the rough and with a little vision, effort, (and I know, money) it could be a cute place.Suggestions:Weed whack the parking lot, weed the property in general.Have a small side table with lamp in the room for late night reading.If you deem this review helpful, I would love a 👍

very basic roadside hotel, pretty retro. had all the amenities we needed for the night. room smelled very strongly of lemon cleaning spray or something so we had to open the windows, but it could have been worse. there were also a couple stains and something crusty on the carpet but we were able to ignore it. i didn’t feel gross staying there though. the wifi kept cutting out so i just used my service on my phone. the worker was really nice and friendly, he showed us to our room and chatted with us. overall pretty ok. if you need somewhere to stay for the night it’s not a bad choice. just know that it’s not very luxury. lol

They have changed the name to Loves OXO Murdo, though the sign still says Dakota Lodge. It is gross and the picture on the booking website looks nothing like the room. If you see a picture that makes the room look like an Adirondak lodge that is nothing like the room in real life. The beds are horrible, the sheets have stains, some little crumbly stuff and a long brown hair. The bathroom floor is dirty and there is peeling paint in the tub. The lighting is a harsh gray color giving the feeling of a cell block. They have doused the place with awful smelling deodorizer to cover up who knows what. I think the reviews I read prior to booking are fake.Update: We paid a lot for the room and it was non-refundable, so we tried to ignore how disgusting it all was. Finally, just before midnight, we knew there was no way we could sleep in that bed so we found a nice place in Fort Pierre, packed up our stuff and drove there. Huge relief.

The motel room was cheap, clean and it was nice to have a fridge. But the wifi was extremely slow when it worked. And little things like no blackout curtains just mini blinds, blinking overhead light, loud AC even on low, and no ice machine that made the stay less than average.Note, cell service maybe limited in the area like it was for me so if you need internet connection I suggest finding a hotel with reliable wifi.

Called at midnight from Wall because we were unwilling to pay $175 a night at a hotel there. Hostess answered the phone and was very nice, she told us to call when we got closer and wake her up so she could unlock the office for when we showed up. We got there about 2:30 and she was still very nice despite needing to be woken up to help us.Rooms are a flat rate throughout the year. No price gouging!!! This was totally the reason we stayed here.The bed was comfy and the shower worked which is all we really needed at 3 in the morning.Pleasantly surprised.

Wow. This little place gives all other motels a good name. I was so pleasantly surprised!The rooms are all immaculate, and have cute little themes! Availability for direct parking and pet rooms! Amazing location with gas and food within walking distance.It is also 104% worth mentioning the caretaker. She is not only kind, reasonable,and respectful; she single handedly keeps this adorable place afloat. If I could, I'd give six stars just for the effort she puts in alone.Thank you! I will be a returning customer.

My room wasn't fancy, but it was clean, affordable, and more than a comfortable place to crash after 13 hours of driving. The fella who greeted me at the front desk was really nice, the granola bars left in the room were a godsend, and my cat who screamed the entire time at our last hotel was actually happy all night. (Apologies to my neighbors about the cat getting talkative at 5am tho.)

Such a cozy place! Exceptionally clean, very soft sheets, A/C was ice cold on a 106 degree day! The host was extremely kind and offered to let me sleep in past check out since I arrived kind of late, so sweet! Would make a point to stay again next time I’m passing through

Friendly, Clean, Economical Stay. Hotel is dated, but clean and comfortable. Friendly Young American couple recently took over Mgmt. Working hard to update decor and address maintenance concerns. Parking for trailers not a problem. Just down road from great Car, toy & Tractor museum. I stayed going both east & west this trip.

You get what you pay for - you want cheap, you get cheap. The motel is under new management and it looked like our room had a new fridge. Other than that it’s run down: carpet in the rooms is nasty, bathroom is badly fixed in every corner, you can’t shut the blinds and there is an outside light right in front of every window - so be prepared to sleep with light. The beds seemed to be clean. If you stay only for a few hours it’s ok.

Excellent stay. My spouse and I stopped here on a cross country road trip. The staff was pleasant and responsive. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Price was very affordable. I highly recommend.

I had a wonderful experience. The manager was just great and went above and beyond. When I opened the door to the room I was pleasantly surprised--it was rather cozy and well-done. The mattress was just right! This is a. great little place to stay.

The room we stayed was pretty clean. We had an air conditioner that works very well. The hot water was running just as it should. We had a bit of problem with wifi but I'm sure it will be fine. Totally recommend this place.

Nasty! The shower was ice cold, not luke warm, ICE COLD. A gentleman a few doors down had the same problem. If it wasn't two am when we arrived my family and I would of left. There was a food container that wasn't ours left. Dirt all over the floor, and I was told the room would have two queens, it had two full. Don't stay here!

For the price this was great for us...right next to Star cafe( which we also liked) and the small local grocery store, so that made it convenient for us...the woman at office,Mahela, was very nice and helpful and rooms were simple and clean...bathrooms are small and simple,but at the price there is nothing to complain about...just down the street from the museum, though we didn't get to go on this trip...overall for the price this is better and cleaner then a lot of more expensive hotels I have stayed at in bigger towns.
