Of the five or so KOA's along western South Dakota along I-90 this is your best choice especially if you are car/tent camping. Many of the campgrounds along I- 90 here are not much more than parking lots for RV's. We found this KOA superior in many ways. This WAS supposed to be our stop for the gateway to the Black Hills. Unfortunately, we ran out of daylight a 100 miles eastward. So we visited in the early morning before anyone was awake. It was mostly empty as we were in the very early part of the season but it was evident we had missed out on a great campground. We visited May 2023.

We were here almost exactly a year ago and came back on our way home because this is a GREAT. Campground. We got a wonderful site #1 view a good view of the lake. Wonderful sunset. Everyone was super friendly and very professional. The showers were updated and very clean. This is a big campground in terms of grounds and everything mowed up, trimmed up. We got propane, ice and FOOD. not just pizza. I got brats and potato salad, my cousin got baked spaghetti. Delicious! Prices very reasonable. As was our campsite. This is a wonderful stop.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HERE! A short drive off of hwy to a VERY WELCOMING place to rest. Hungry? This place has a fairly large menu that they will make and bring to your site, a small store, and prices were very reasonable! GREAT cell signal and cable tv channels. Dog park was very nice and clean for those traveling with fur companions. Sites are extremely level, plenty of space in between sites, and long to pull your coach into.Very nice piece of property to walk, sit and enjoy peace, and… there wasn’t the sound of hwy traffic! We will be back!

This is a fabulous campground! We stayed here in a cabin for three days. It was very clean and roomy. The owners/hosts, Robert and Lisa were wonderful to chat with, they got us signed up and into our cabin quickly, giving us a spot with a ramp up to the door in consideration of our old dog who has trouble walking. The campground is well kept and beautiful, located by a large pond that brings lots of great birds to watch. There is a nice playground for kids and the bathrooms are updated and very clean. Water was nice and hot in the showers too! I would recommend staying here and will be back in the fall!!Nearby activities: 1880 Town, ghost town with lots of fun things to see and do.

campground & a few very cute cabins that look like log homes! -It is very clean, 24hr laundry building, showers & bathrooms(didn’t use either), restaurant in office building-they deliver to your site! This was great for an overnight stay, not far off the highway, and no road noise. It is surrounded by rolling fields that were mown, had large round hay bales- really enjoyed that scenery. It is just about 1/4 mile down from the 1880 Town, which looked very interesting. It has an entrance fee. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The sites around us were pretty slim, but we had plenty of room for the slide out, and had a picnic table. They pick up your trash. They had some recumbent trikes in large and smaller sizes-kids using them were having an awesome time. You’ll have to check the website!

A unexpected gem on a long trip. I planned a three day stop here as I've a bad spine and need to rest it for days for relief. I didn't have high expectations due to location. The service here is spectacular and the staff is excellent. They've a kitchen and good menu, and they deliver to your RV or cabin. The chow is good. Great spot for overnighting or staying a few days. I'll stop again..

We were tired, long drive, managed to find our sites but Ill give then this FIRST place ever offered food delivery to RV sites an we needed it that night!! Pizza is REALLY GREAT!!! The breakfast bagels sounded good too but we left before they opened at 9am.Noteworthy details: Its on outskirts so the RV site delivery is a great idea

Stayed here on the way to sturgis coming from Virginia, one of if not the best and friendliest campgrounds I've ever been at. Staff is great and very attentive to our needs and wants, the lots are some of the biggest I've been at. The food is a basic menu and very good. Nice store in main office area. To me this is how a campground should be. I'll come back here again.

The location was close to 1800 town, badlands, and Wall drug store and we were able to see all three in a day.It was far enough off the interstate so road noise was minimal making it quiet. It is an older campground but has the amenities necessary. It did not have a pool or I would have rated it higher.Nearby activities: Very close to 1880 town, and an hr from Wall, with he Badlands park in between.

This by far was one of my favorite campgrounds! We got a nice spot in short notice after a long drive. They are a mile off the freeway but it’s pretty quiet. They have a menu where they will deliver to your camper and the customer service is fantastic! The playground was great for the kids and mine had a blast there! They have an arcade where you can play some old school games which I loved! The view was amazing! We were lucky and got to stay during a super moon! Bathrooms were really clean and the showers were great! Highly recommend!

On our way back home from visiting SD our car broke down.Lucky for us we were in the vicinity of this campground. Even though they were busy and fully booked, they were more than helpful and willing to accommodate us. We stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, clean facilities, well stocked store and very quiet. Even though it’s only about half a mile from the highway, we did not hear any traffic noise. They even have a little café where you can order food. We didn’t order anything but the menu looked really good. Rather close to Badlands. They have an amazing playground for kids. We are looking forward to stopping by again, next year, when we head back west. I can promise you, you will not find nicer people anywhere!

Great spot. We rolled in just before a big storm. We were unable to grill but they had a nice menu option to choose from. We got the BBQ pizza and the family said it was great. Cabin is perfect for an overnight with a family of 4. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Clean bathrooms and showers, newly updated, wonderful playground for kids.

We had an enjoyable one night stay. We like the calm before entering the Black Hills. Our dog, McGuyver enjoyed the attention from the staff and all of the area to take walks. We enjoyed the supper delivery. Happy and informative staff. We would return. Judy, Kevin, MacGyver

Stayed for one night near end of season. Employees very nice. Big pull through spaces. Good wifi internet, which is rare for campgrounds. Great value.

Ok. No frills. Spots very close together. Dog park ok but smelled of sewer. 4 speed bumps just to get into campground!! Way overkill and very hard on rigs..especially 44 ft trailer toy hauler.Nearby activities: 1880s town.

This is a neat, well maintained campground, good proximity to the Badlands, and remarkably clean. Sure there were insects, dead and alive, but hey, this is a campground so no big deal. The staff here is arguably the nicest in the midwest, escorting us to our site upon arrival, delivering firewood, making sure we have what we need with a smile on their faces. We had severe thunderstorms 2 out of 3 nights, but that only added to our camping adventure. Good memories here.

The lady in the office was really friendly and helpful, the location was great right off of I90 on our was to Mt Rushmore. There is an old western town called 1880 town less than a half mile away that was really fun and worth seeing. The campground itself needs some TLC but from recent experience with KOAs they just aren't very well kept anymore for the price. The worse part was when it got dark the mosquitos were everywhere, couldn't open the trailer door without hundreds of them swarming in towards the light, we spent and hour trying to kill all of the ones that got in, it was horrible, would not recommend this KOA because of that!Nearby activities: The nearby 1880 town was worth the stop

This was a well kept campground. Unfortunately, the weather ruined our stay. Gravel sites were nearly level- we didn't have to unhook our 34ft trailer :) The playground looked brand new and had top of the line equipment. The kids loved it! The hosts were VERY welcoming and informed us of the dinner/ breakfast options. I was really looking forward to a bagel sandwich in the morning.... We did grab some local beer from the KOA store. I recommend the Porter! When we arrived, the weather was perfect with sunny skies. The campground had a lot of rain though, so spots around sites were muddy. This became an issue when we had to escape the storm that evening. Winds were 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70mph. We decided to hop in our extra car and leave while the storm blew through. We found an overpass just 1 mile up the road, and parked for at least a hour. When we thought it was safe, we went back to camp. Electricity was out and 2 RVs had tipped. Our massive trailer had shifted about 4 inches. The wind was still pretty bad, so we drove the RV back to the overpass to sleep for the night.I think if there was an evacuation/ safety plan for inclement weather, I would have rated this a 5.

Easy access from highway for quick and easy lodging. Our information was easily accessible for our late arrival. I wasn't a fan of the back bathrooms, but they were decent enough.Nearby activities: Only thing nearby is 1880 town and I-90

Second visit here. Great for an overnight stop. Cleanest KOA cabin we have experienced... And we've stayed in quite a few. Far enough from interstate to reduce road noise. Fun playground for the kids. Nice, clean bathrooms.

Nice little campground. Not the cheapest but 38 for a no reservation self register site that takes credit card was a good deal. 45 minutes from badlands eastern entrance at 90/240 highways.

The staff here have gone over and above to ensure that we were well taken care of. We've been on the road since the end of April and feel a little road weary, especially since we've found a lot of unfriendly characters on our journey. We greatly appreciate the kindness and hospitality displayed during our stay here. We highly recommend you stay here!

Very nice campground. We were in Space #2, A large, wide space with grass, fire pit & a table. It had wide gravel roads to easily maneuver our 43 ft Class A Coach. Some spaces have concrete pads but we were in a gravel site. It all worked great. The pool is being renovated - it’s closed. There is a Cafe on the premises for hamburgers, sandwiches & salads…etc. Smart - because it’s in the middle of nowhere!!😄Smelled awesome when we check in. Store was pretty good too.The Campground was clean and grass yards doing their best for August hot, windy days. Full hook up & most were pull thru’s from what I could see. Spent 3 nights and was a perfect location for where we wanted to go. Very friendly staff…. They even brought an extra ladder out to help my husband fix an awning issue. Appreciated it.Highly recommended!!
