I had purchased a donut from the bakery and when I had gone to eat it I found what looked like gum under the icing of it and it had the same texture and stretchiness of gum and about a month ago prior I had purchased a large jar of yellow queso which was in date and yet when I opened it i found a huge amount of mold inside I was hoping it was a one time accident but after this issue with the donut and being told stuff like this happened before with the donuts and pastries it needs to be fixed cause that is a serious health and safety issue for foods. I wish I had taken photos but the jar I nearly puked from opening it due to the smell from it I was walking when I found the issue with the donut and I was to disgusted in what I found on it to take a photo due to carrying my groceries in my other hand and not wanting to possibly contaminate the rest of my foods and this all saddens me cause I enjoyed getting a donut whenever I had came in for shopping but now I'm worried of what if I had eaten something on a pastry without ever finding out and being there were only two donuts on the tray left and possible kids or elderly getting donuts from the tray worries me that donuts purchased might have other contaminations on them if not just from the donut I had bought.

Very kind staff, extremely clean store and store front. Shelves are fully stocked and inventory seems to be in order. The only negative, which is personal, is the ethnic frozen food section isn't so diverse. Otherwise, I believe the low prices and good selection makes this place worth the shop!

Got good prices and a good selection on a variety of fruits vegetables name brand and off brand selections and a good staff to help you find what you're looking for or actually help you get it if you can't get to it or reach it

Only a place to grab something you forgot or need. Definitely not a place to shop for filling pantry, freezer etc. Prices were extremely high. Meats didn't look good so we passed on those items. Cashier kid was not very talkative

I enjoy shopping at Sunshine weekly! Great selection & customer service. The only room for improvement would be to show the baggers how to bag items properly. Meat blood on my coffee creamer is a tad gross and several large glass jars all packed into one bag that breaks is frustrating.

It's an ok store, it's clean, well stocked with things you'll need and the staff are really friendly but all you get is just what you need.They can be a little expensive on things and it's what you would expect for a small town store but it's not what you'd expect for a small city!Since it's the only grocery store in the city, you have to travel to Brookings or Sioux Falls to get the things you want.

Not sure what all you guys are talking about? Definitely the best grocery store I have ever been in and bought from! For you guys that degraded it may want to reevaluate your views on how a store runs. Great workers and great management hands down.

I gave the cashier a gift card n he threw it away....it had 50$ on it....but he said nothing was on it n threw it away n when i used a Lewis one swipinging "didn't work" so i just assumed the person who gave me these didn't really put money on it till a friend told me "did u call the card?" I didnt know u could so i called the lewis card and the money was on there 😳 😬 so one of your cashier's threw away 50$ gift card for sunshine and im very much upset about it ... y didnt he ask if i was ok w him throwing it out? Could of gave it back n told me it "didnt work" so i could check it later i know i cant ever get that back but maybe pass this info along qnd talk with your cashier's please so no one else also has this happen too them

I was just passing through Madison on my way to Sioux Falls. I unlucky stumbled upon Sunshine foods and was I ever disappointed. I don't know if it is the only market in a small town or they payed off the health inspector but I have to say I'm appealed by the condition of this establishment. Their eggs literally smelled to high heaven. There was milk spilled on the floor which nobody cared to clean up. The workers were very unhappy as evidenced by their attitude. And, to add insult to injury, they over charged me on a couple of items which I had to go and wait for ten minutes to speak to the manager. My card was credited back but it took my money to make it back onto my card after four days. The next time I will go to a market like this I will be on a business trip to Nigeria but I doubt I will even find a market as bad as Sunshine

Great for grocery shopping, but dont always have what i need. Plus their deli sandwiches are dry, and the turkey salad sandwich doesnt taste good. Also a while ago, i found glass in my penut clusters.

This store has your staples and I am definently thankful for Sunshine when we cannot or do not want to travel for groceries. Their quality of their produce, although not equal to Hyvee in Sioux Falls but equal to Brookings Hyvee, is by far superior to Walmart. The fact some of you buy meats and produce at Walmart is beyond me. Yuck. Sunshine does a good job and I've lived in many different states and towns. This is a good store. Prices aren't really any higher than Hyvee and I love their discount days when they mark down their spinach and meats for quick sale! Those are my favorites and sure does help on a budget.We have a lot of people here that are not Hispanic or white, we could really use more ethnic choices. Seriously there are six types of boring white rice but nothing fun to make a Biryani with? I would have given five stars if only you take into consideration your ethnic population in Madison. Although I think they have a fairly nice selection of Hispanic foods.Bring your own bags and they give you a discount and dont be lazy, walk your own cart back into the store. I'd laugh to see you whine about Aldi's. Murica'!

A while back I saw a man digging in the dumpster behind one of the stores in town. I now realize that he was not homeless. I figure he hound it a better alternative to shopping as sunshine. This place is simply dirty, way over prices and the employees are beyond rude

This place needs competition. Unless there is a sale it's worth an hour drive to find a Wal-Mart. And durring a sale the item in question gets cleaned out faster then bottled water in Flint, MI. You have to rely on rain checks almost entirely. Another big issue is the shopping karts.. they are always in disrepair. All child safety straps are broken and they outright ignore requests to fix the problem.If another grocer opened in Madison they would make a fortune.

I like the convenience of our store being here, if we run out of something we can go to the store here and not drive an hour. On the other hand, I wish there was another store in Madison. As for buying groceries, you need to watch what you're paying, some things are more expensive but I noticed Sunshine can be cheaper then Wal-Mart. Watch the sales, it is worth comparing to Wal-Mart or Hyvee. Overall, Sunshine has some great people working there, very friendly and helpful.

It is a very nice and clean place, customers service is fabulous; but the owners should consider the pricing on the products, really the big & less expensive stores are not really that far away from Madison.

Extraordinary employees. Highway robbery on produce prices. The prices of even the cheapest fruits are a total slap in the face to the consumer. I try to buy groceries in another town ad much as possible.

First time at a grocery store in Madison, SD. Reminds me a lot of a Piggly Wiggly's. Small town feel with decent prices! Can't ask for much more in a small town!
