The drive up had me a little worried with the junk sitting along the road before the resort. However, the place is beautiful, and the star gazer tent was breathtaking šŸ˜. Didn't get to bed very early as we stayed up watching thestars. Wonderful experience will recommend to others and already looking at other Under Canvas location to experience.

We absolutely loved our time at Under Canvas. We only spent one night, and everything was great. The food is even better than I thought it would be. The staff is so friendly. They help you take your luggage to your tent since you can't drive right up to the tent. They are also just a text or call away at all times if you need anything. The tents and grounds are very clean. They have several fire pits and give you free ingredients to make s'mores. You can see Mount Rushmore in the distance and are only a 10-15 minute drive to the actual monument. I highly recommend staying here.

This was the best way to end our adventures! The staff was top notch and was so accomodating! The facilities were clean and had everything we needed! The deck to sit out and look at Mt. Rushmore was awesome and had such great furniture...they turned on the heat lamps and brought us blankets! So cozy looking at the stars. Food at the restaurant was great as well. Everyone seemed happy to be working there! Great experience overall. This was my 3rd Under Canvas stay and you get a consistent experience each time! Thank you!

My two daughters and I stayed a couple of nights at Under Canvas. We absolutely loved it. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We did the evening hike on our first night there and got a bit of a workout on the uphill section, which was nice after having been in the car all day. There were plenty of bed coverings to keep us warm at night, so we chose not to to start the stove. We all had a good nights sleep. We will definitely stay here again the next time that we are in the Black Hills.

We decided to stop here on our way moving across the country. We were so impressed! The tent was comfortable, the staff were efficient and friendly and the view was unbelievable! The whole place is dog friendly. The back deck has a distant view of Mt. Rushmore. They even provide all the makings for S'mores and outdoor fire pits to enjoy them. My only complaint is that we didn't have enough time. Oh, the food was gourmet! They have vegetarian and vegan offerings and they were exceptional. I highly recommend Under Canvas.Rooms: The tents were comfortable. It can get a bit chilly at night (you are camping after all) so an extra blanket it helpful.Food & drinks: The food was excellent with a good number of vegetarian/vegan options. The wine selection was good as well.Noteworthy details: Everything is dog friendly. They even have water bowls strategically placed for our canine friends. It was so low stress of a location to have our dog. The views at night were unparalleled.

My wife, three kids and I had a wonderful time at Under Canvas. The staff was fantastic, happy and helpful. Our tent was great, you were still roughing it a little bit. It is not a hotel room. But the experience is fantastic. Even on rainy days. We had a good time just hanging out in our tent or in the main lobby, playing games, building puzzles, or reading books. With Custer State Park, and Badlands National Park within an hour or so drive there is plenty to do. My wife and I really enjoyed drinking our coffee, looking at the presidential faces on mount Rushmore in the mornings right from the campground. The coffee (and tea) was fantastic and available 24 hours a day. The only room for improvement I could think of would be the meals. I feel like other restaurants, such as Chipotle, Mezah, and Modern Market, have better food for similar prices. But on the positive, the food served at Under Canvas is good quality and healthy.

Absolutely loved my solo stay at UnderCanvas Mount Rushmore! I stayed twice this summer for a total of 3 nights. I enjoy camping but I’m not a camper. This experience was perfect! The staff was remarkable; everyone was friendly and helpful: from check-in, to dining, to checkout. I didn’t have to do anything! The live musicians were fantastic! My tent was incredible. I got the deluxe with a private bathroom. So worth it to be able to shower in my room. I did the on-site hike; and got recommendations from the staff on other local secret spots- the Poet’s Table off Little Devils Tower in Custer State Park and stargazing/electrical storm watch at the Strattobowl. My trip was magical. Looking forward to my next Under Canvas stay.Rooms: The staff unloaded and loaded my bags and they started my fires for me. The bed was so comfortable. The in-tent bathroom was my favorite part.Safety: My first solo trip. The resort is so hidden and feels very safe. I had a fantastic time and never worried about safety here.Food & drinks: Water and refillable water bottles were perfect. Coffee and teas were so yummy. The burger was the best after a day of hiking.Noteworthy details: Randy and Mr Van Nuys we’re killer. They did a live performance on the Saturday night I was there. Really phenomenal musicians.

What a great way to experience the western Dakotas. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. The bedding and pillows were some of the most comfortable we experienced during our 7 day road-trip. We stayed in a Safari tent (their most basic) and it was very comfortable, had everything we needed, including two power banks to keep our phones charged and power two lamps and two little desk fans plus a wood burning stove and fire making supplies. Safari tents do not have en-suites but the bath house was only 50 feet away and was well appointed with soap, shampoo, and towels. My wife and I are not campers but we were more than comfortable staying at Under Canvas and would live to try our some of their other locations around the country. The one downside is that food at dinner was very over priced and not that good. It is only a 5 min drive down to Keystone and I would recommend seeking dinner there. Breakfast, however, was delicious, especially with a view of Rushmore.

My wife found this when searching for lodging near Mt Rushmore. We haven't tent camped since we were in our late 20's and are in our 70's now, but this looked fun. The tents are top notch with King bed, toilet and shower. Campground was clean, quiet and each tent is situated for privacy. Ours was #12 and very secluded. Bed was super comfy with lots of blankets, but it can still get chilly at night in late September. My only suggestion to management would be to replace the tiny wood stove with either pellet stoves or propane heaters. Waking up every hour or two to stoke the fire was a bit of a chore. The staff is fantastic, are genuinely dedicated to catering to your every need, and everyone we had contact with was super pleasent and accommodating. My wife realized she left her Kindle Reader in the tent when we checked out, and when I called, Simeon immediately went to the tent, retrieved the Kindle, and called me back to ask if we wanted to come back and pick it up, or should he mail it to us. We went back to retrieve it since we were still in the area. The food from the resturaunt was excellent, the outdoor deck area was a fantastic place to watch the sunset and you can see the lighting ceremony at Mt Rushmore from there. Great place to meet fellow campers as well. The location is perfectly situated to easily visit Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, the Badlands and other attractions in the area.If you like a campground feel, without the campground work that goes with it, you will love this place.Highly recommended, and would give it 5 stars across the board if they offered pellet or propane heat.

My family of 5 stayed for two nights. It was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were comfortable, the kids loved the camping vibe, the food was excellent, and the staff was helpful and kind. There were many cool activities. It is such a beautiful location - you can see Mount Rushmore from the site! Such an excellent addition to our road trip.

Amazing customer service! The staff were great at checking in on our needs. You don't get good customer service these days and I felt very taken care of during our stay. The breakfast and dinner was really good. They have tea and coffee available all day. We enjoyed the back porch at night looking at the stars and seeing Mount Rushmore lit up. The free smores are fun and we loved the glamping tents! It was chilly during our stay and the fire place keeps the tent nice and cozy. They do not offer locks for the tents though, so I would bring your own. Also if the wind picks up the tents are very noisy, so take the offered ear plugs when you check in. Close drive to Mount Rushmore and Keystone.

We celebrated our anniversary by traveling from Ohio to Washington state. This stay was towards the end of our trip and is definitely a highlight!Lounging deck has an expansive view of Mt. Rushmore. Food choices are limited but not bad. A little more pricey, but worth it for the convenience of not having to travel 20 min to a restaurant. The tents are nice and BIG, beds were comfortable. Staff makes you feel like royalty ā¤ļø I highly recommend the Stargazer!

Sweet spot for Glamping! Service was on par with 5 star resorts! Tents were outfitted with nice touches and beds were comfy. Food was also tasty! All around very enjoyable place to stay! We definitely want to try other under canvas locations! If you are even remotely thinking about staying here, just do it! :) P.S. don’t forget to look up…the stars here on a clear night are amazing!

We stayed here during a two week road trip out west. This was our favorite place we stayed. I can’t say enough about this place. It was beyond perfect. The staff is extremely nice and friendly. The food is to die for. The best food we had on our entire trip. The chef even came out each meal to ensure we were pleased. It’s like a little slice of heaven. The tent is clean and spacious but super cozy and inviting. The bed is very comfortable. They provide you with all the essentials including two battery packs to charge phones, two lanterns that light up the tent, and two fans. The wood stove keeps you warm on cold nights and makes the tent feel even more cozy. We can’t wait to return. It was a wonderful experience.

Had the pleasure of staying 1 night in August 2022. The location is great with an awesome view of the monument, especially early in the morning. The beds are really comfortable and I especially liked how at this location the trees and hills provide privacy between tents. The tent itself was very clean and the bathroom inside the tent is cool, not sure I'd like the communal bathrooms as much personally, so it seems worth the extra cost to get a deluxe tent! Food was tasty with a few good options for vegetarians thankfully! The staff was down to earth and accomodating and I can't wait for my next visit at the Acadia location!

This was our 1st stay at an Under Canvas location, and I was thoroughly thrilled with the outcome. As a non-camper, I was hesitant, but the accommodations, facilities, and location was perfect. Having an outdoor deck overlooking MtR was a very unexpected surprise. This was a special experience that I am grateful for. Staff was inviting and friendly too. This was top notch camping, and great to be pet friendly!

Great experience and amenities. Staff is super friendly. The only thing that will trip you is your tent location. If you are offered tent number 15-18 or 31-34 (these are close to the main reception tent) or any other that is close to vehicle path, you may not get any sleep. Vehicles are always moving near our tent - the only quiet time was from 1am to 5am. The noise from vehicles moving on gravel will penetrate any ear plugs. If you are a light sleeper then you should avoid those tents or don’t stay more than a night. Definitely call and check your tent location before you arrive else prepare to stay awake all nightUpdate - the management was kind enough to offer two meal vouchers. Unfortunately we still decided to check out early and lose our money because the noise was just too much. Pls note there’s no refund policy

It was wonderful here. First off the staff was some of the nicest people ever. The rooms were very nice. Note to self. Those wood heaters in the room really work and can turn it into a sauna. The food was delicious and they really helped us so much. They had nice views of mt Rushmore. The shower wasn’t bad. You have to pull a handle to get water and keep holding it down. The water was very hot though!! Overall if we find more of these around other parks I’ll definitely look at staying at these.

This was our second Under Canvas stay and the ambience and staff did not disappoint - true to their brand experience. View from the observation deck was a real treat and not something many properties in the Mt. Rushmore Ɣrea can claim they offer. Keep up the good work!I highly encourage all guests to take the 2 mile loop trail around the property. Great walk and a good chance to disconnect from other guests.

What a perfect location for Under Canvas in Keystone, SD. When you wake up in the am and walk to the observation deck, you see the four Mount Rushmore heads glowing in white from the sunrise. Never get tired of that. Good food, decent coffee, and accommodating staff make this a must stop location. The Deluxe Tent with a king bed, private bathroom, and wood stove made for great sleeping … even when an overnight storm blew through the camp. The hiking trail through the camp was delightful and only a moderate level for a short uphill. Definitely want to Glamp more at other Under Canvas locations.Nearby activities: Tons to do in Keystone, SD just outside the camp. 18 Mile Loop through Custer Park, Mount Rushmore, Hiking at Sylvan Lake, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, Crazy Horse Memorial, etc.Safety: Security staff on duty 7x24.Walkability: Easy walk from individual tents to the main lobby tent and observation deck.Food & drinks: Good assortment.

We absolutely loved our stay at Under Canvas! The campground was gorgeous, the tents were comfortable, and the experience was very positive. We experienced a large thunderstorm one of our nights there and the tents stayed absolutely dry. The tents are scattered amongst tall grass so do not expect a perfectly mowed campground, but it made it feel more camplike. Parking was available near our tent, which we were grateful for. Walking uphill to the dining room or reservation area could be exerting for some people, so it may not be a place to stay if you are in poor health. The food was absolutely delicious and they have an espresso machine for specialty coffees in the morning! We were able to request ice from the dining room to fill our water bottles in the morning. They had board games to take and play and beautiful seating to observe the mountains and a view of Mount Rushmore. Community fire pits (gas powered) were available with seating, which I believe the staff lit in the evenings for campers to enjoy. We were able to take s'more supplies from the reservation desk and use the fire pits to make s'mores. Overall, we wish we had planned less excursions on the days we stayed at Under Canvas while we were in Keystone. We would have liked to have more time hiking in that area and just relaxing in the beautiful atmosphere. The only issue we had was that the batter packs advertised on the website did not last through our first night and the staff said they had a difficult time keeping them charged because the batteries drained faster than they could charge them. If you are a person who needs a fan to sleep (like me), it would be worth bringing your own battery operated fan. It was quite expensive to stay there, but I 10/10 recommend it if you can afford at least one night!

This was our 2nd time at an UnderCanvas location and we loved it! Glacier was our first stay and Mt Rushmore location exceeded expectations! We traveled with our big dog and they are so accommodating of pets and all the staff loved up on him! The tents (we had a deluxe) are so nice and the bed is super comfy for the chilly nights. They have a wonderful lobby tent offering food, cocktails, local beer and coffee and everything we tried was so good and fresh. We had a lot of rain while we were there in the evenings so we spent a lot of time hanging out in the lobby playing games they had available on site and it was so wonderful looking around and seeing all the tables filled up with friends, family, couples all disconnected from their phones and connecting with each other playing games and enjoying the live music they had-just something you don’t see much of anymore! All of the staff we met were so friendly and welcoming and seemed genuinely happy to be there (again, rare šŸ˜‚)! We can’t for our next UnderCanvas stay! Also a great view of Mt Rushmore from the observation deck!

Great place to stay as it is close to Mount Rushmore. There is some gravel road to deal with. The service was excellent all around. The food is super healthy so bring snacks if that isn't your thing. They have free smores packets for nighttime fires. Had some crafts for afternoon. I stayed in a tent without a bathroom so the walk to the shared bathroom was not on a boardwalk like the picture shows on website. I walked at least a minute to get there and it was cold at night. It's a dirt rocky path. The shower had a pull rope so took a shower with one hand. Conserves water, but not my thing. They had towels but no washcloths and they had soap and shampoo but the holder was broken so the bottles would fall on floor. They have no hairdryers so bring your own. Most of this would have not been an issue had I known, so just beware. It's a camping place. The fire stoves in the tents make the tents very hot, so we kept the tent windows open. The beds were comfortable, and lots of sheets and blankets so I kept warm. There is a beautiful platform to see Mount Rushmore from afar. The staff helped get our luggage to and from the tent. Overall, it was a nice stay, just a little more roughing it than originally thought.

We absolutely loves South Dakota and the settings of the camp. We got a stargaze tent on a secluded spot with hiking trails right off the tent. At night we watched Big Dipper on the sky that happened to perfectly locate above us at that time :)Staff is super nice and helpful. Kids had experienced fun making s’mores and explore surroundings. They can’t wait to come back. I’ll be back!Rooms: Very neat, sturdy and comfortable furniture. In tent stove made it the highlight of the trip. Comes with dry woods, fire starter and matches.Nearby activities: U can see my Rushmore from the deck of the lobby!Short and long trails along the propertyBiking trails few minutes awayLots of tourist attraction few minutes away as wellFood & drinks: Food was simple yet tasty and healthy. We loved it all. To our liking we had substituted fries to salads and it was always a win win.

This is our 3rd stay at an Under Canvas. As always, we had a great experience. Staff was great, evening activities fun, on site restaurant was perfect for when we didn't feel like going out for dinner after a day of hiking. There's hiking trails on site (don't forget the bug spray!) We saw deer, wild turkeys, marmot, and chipmunks on the grounds!
