Nice and quiet location, but this was at the end of the season. The room was nice and the sitting area adjacent to the lobby was nice. The breakfast area is just a brief walk away from any of the rooms. The only dig is the supposed view of the mountain (Mt. Rushmore) is a joke. The view is very far away and not worth an increase in room price, don't fall for it. The picture is zoomed in on my camera and to zoom any further would have been blurred beyond making out anything.Nearby activities: Near My. Rushmore, but away from the town.

Fantastic location! We reserved a mountain view room and could see the profile of George Washington at Mount Rushmore from our patio. The rooms are lodge-style and a little dated but clean. Fresh towels and other amenities were provided upon request. Having a bar/restaurant on premises was a huge plus after a long day of site-seeing. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Very nice Hotel in Keystone, maybe one of the best. All new, rooms are large and well cleaned with all the confort, included a hot tub available until 10pm.Nice breakfast, maybe a little crowded at early morning, but I think it's quite normal.Really nice check in experience and wonderful lobby for making working calls.

Great location just off the main drag, tucked away in the woods. We would definitely stay again and recommend. Enjoyed talking Reggae music to the workers from Jamaica, I even taught them a few things. Best latte in the area! Breakfast was very good! Sitting by the evening firepit was great. Also we could see Mt Rushmore from our balcony.

Awesome spot! Very private - away from main drag of Keystone. Peaceful, quiet and tranquil setting. Great view of Mt. Rushmore!! Free breakfast was very good. Endless free coffee and hot beverages. Service staff was excellent. Kudos to Shaniel at the front desk. Restaurant food was pretty good, but limited menu selection. Would absolutely stay here again if/when we come back to this area.

We've stayed several times and the K Bar S has never let us down. We've recommended it to friends and family and everyone loves it here. Bottom line, when we are visiting the Black Hills we stay here, no exception.Rooms: Every room we've had has been clean and spacious. We prefer staying in the main building but the others are very nice tooNearby activities: Everything you'd plan on seeing or doing in the Black Hills is very close to the K Bar S.

We recently stayed a week here and loved it! The staff was very nice and friendly. Winston went above and beyond!! The breakfast was very good. Location is great. It feels like you are far in the mountains when you are actually really close to town. The beds were a little uncomfortable but the room was very clean and the view of Mt Rushmore was awesome!

I have stayed here in the off season for a convention since 2011. I absolutely love it. The rooms and grounds are well maintained. Staff is amazing. Some of the staff who were just kids in 2011 are now key figures working here. I love it! My room has a balcony and I wake up to a view of George out my window since we are so close to Mount Rushmore.

A 3-star Hotel deserves only 3 stars. Rooms are clean but outdated. Fitness center was okay but no windows and very much to offer. WiFi speed was way below 2023 standards. Breakfast was huge but not worth the price. Overall a chill and quite location but not worth it. Better stay in Rapid City and drive up to Mount Rushmore in the morning. And besides that if you’re a dog owner then there is literally no walking area for you and your dog. You’re trapped in this place and your only way out is by car.

Spent four lovely nights here and enjoyed everything about our stay. Every staff member from the desk to the pub was friendly and made the stay better. The Lodge is located off the main road through Keystone so the is no traffic noise. Only small issue was the internet that was weak at times. Biggest surprise was the view from the lobby deck of George Washington's head at Mt. Rushmore.

Loved waking up to the view of Mount Rushmore! The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and super clean. We had a great time here and highly recommend. The continental breakfast was a normal continental breakfast. But the facility was beautiful. The glass gazebo was so pretty. I see why people have their weddings there. It’s a great location and price!

We recently stayed at the K Bar S during our visit to Mount Rushmore. We were extremely satisfied with our accommodations. The lodge itself is charming and the location is ideal. It is located just off the main strip in Keystone but just far enough away to enjoy its peaceful surroundings. Our room was in the main lodge building and we enjoyed sitting on the deck, the added bonus was being able to see the profile of Mount Rushmore from the deck. Our room was clean and comfortable and it has everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful and being able to sit outside on the deck during breakfast was a treat. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Excellent resort/hotel. Warm breakfast above your standard continental is pretty unique to hotels in this area, but K bar does a great job. I am going to admit, we stay here every year. But that's because this place is great!Kyle and Jordan, thank you again for an awesome stay! You both are fantastic.Laura, Winston, Shaneil, and Niccolai at the front desk are also amazing. We are flattered that the staff remember us each year we return. It's starting to feel like family here. :)Anyway, for those folks wanting to stay here. It's nestled in a corner of Keystone away from general traffic and motorcycles - so you get that romantic, peaceful atmosphere. My all-time favorite moments are when you are lounging around the hotel grounds and you hear that steam engine whistle blowing. THAT is tranquility. :)This year in particular, K bar upgraded the property with a new fitness center, new deck furniture, and general upgrades. They do a good job keeping up to modern standards without losing that peaceful and rustic feeling.10 out of 10.Dustin and Alisha Smaby-South Dakota lovers

The K Bar S Lodge is a hidden gem. We stayed 2 nights in late June 2022. The mountain view is great and we spent quite a bit of time on our private balcony enjoying our time. We ate dinner amd had cocktails at the restaurant both nights of our stay and the food was very good. The included breakfast was adequate, the service very good, and the facility clean, and quite quiet. The rooms are nothing special, just standard rooms, but the other amenities, open spaces, and quiet location make it still worthy of my high rating nonetheless. I would stay here again for sure. The only complaint was from my 14 year old twin boys that they wished there was a pool on site. You won't regret your stay here.

Solidly mediocre. Let's start with the pluses. Great location that feels like being out in the wilderness however very close to the bustling tourist businesses. The views in the area are great. The lodge was nice and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The morning breakfast was well stocked and constantly monitored by staff. The food was also not bad for a free continental breakfast. The downsides were the room itself. The beds were a bit firm for my liking but the sheets were comfortable. The decor was outdated. If they were going for rustic they missed the mark and ended up with a 90s hotel vibe. The high use areas in the room were clean however areas such as lights, fixtures, etc were caked in a layer of dust. With a good cleaning and a decor update this would be a great place to stay in the central Hills

This lodge is in a great location, short walking distance to Keystone stores and shops, a quick 8-10 minute drive to Mount Rushmore! The grounds are beautiful with spectacular views from your patio. (Bring binoculars to get a good profile view of Washington) All patios are facing the west, so keep that in mind as the sun sets. The staff was very nice & welcoming. The Pub at KbarS was very convenient, little pricey, but convenient! I had a pretty good juicy hamburger and a few beers while watching the sun set with the beautiful American flag whipping in the wind. After that you may be wondering why I’m only giving three stars… the rooms were clean, but very outdated, bed wasn’t all that comfortable. The walls are super thin, request an upstairs room because if you get a 1st level floor you’ll hear the guest walking above you and hopefully your neighbor next to your room doesn’t snore, because you’ll hear that too. My room was on the bottom floor next to the outside door, so I heard that thing slam all day and night. Room service doesn’t tend to your room during your stay, which wasn’t that big of deal, just hang a checklist on door and they’ll provide you with what’s needed. During my stay they were resealing the parking lot so they had a good portion of the parking spaces blocked off, so parking was cut throat in the evenings/nights. I didn’t want to lose my spot so I couldn’t go see the lighting of Rushmore in the evening because I didn’t want to have to park way at the bottom of hill at the entrance of the lodge. So overall, I don’t believe the price of this lodge was worth it. You’re paying for the view more than anything.

Ok so profile view and everything nature is great . I loved the location and the green grounds and common place that they have. Very cabin-ish and rustic feel. BUT they really need to work on the BUFFET. It was not nice n warm at all For the price you pay. Rooms are ok type.

Staff here is friendly and helpful. Great location close to Keystone, SD and Mt Rushmore National Monument. You can see two of the faces on the monument from the property (I used my 10x binoculars for a clear view). The rooms are clean, but dated. The 1990s called, they want their furniture, carpet, bathroom fixtures and lighting back. The bed is comfortable and seems to be relatively new. Hot water is not very hot. Internet has limited bandwidth (7D/2U MB w/ 256ms Jitter) and drops connection.I miss the Holiday Inn Express in Casper,WY.Note to management: You have a good property. Invest in a few cosmetic updates and maintaining the infrastructure and it will bring you profits for decades.

I booked this hotel because it was the best rated, had amazing views, and was supposed to be an excellent stay.So far:1. Me and my daughter got stuck in the elevator, she is 6 and was absolutely terrified. We were in thete for a few minutes before someone came.2. The TV did not work, AT ALL. I have a photo to prove.. it would constantly state there was an error.3. Zero parking, none! And I am not joking when I said I had zero parking and I had to park in a handicap spot because it was the last available.4. Upon giving my daughter a bath I discovered the bath tun was unclean with someone else's hair in it!Disgusting!!Safe to say.. so far it's not been great, nor relaxing and now my daughter is terrified of elevators. We booked the room for 1 night, and will leave tomorrow. I'll update if anything changes

Just checked in and the room is a disappointment. I have been travelling cross country and have lived in hotels ranging from 100$-250$ this one seems like the least bang for your buck. No view whatsoever from the room, refusal to assign a better room. I didn’t come to mt Rushmore to look at a wall from my room. Makes me want to throw my bags in the room and stay out all day just to avoid staying inside. Attached a picture of the “view”

This was such a treat on our long road trip from California. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was great! Having a balcony to look at Mt. Rushmore was icing on the cake! We were able to watch the monument be lighted from our balcony which was very nice. The food at the restaurant was very good and reasonable and the grounds and other amenities made for a delightful stay. Hope to come back in the fall for another visit!

Our stay was wonderful! We had all the perks of a chain hotel without the chain hotel! Breakfast was offered daily, including gluten free bread and non dairy milk! As vegans and gluten intolerant individuals, thank you! The staff was so friendly and accommodating, the rooms were very comfortable, especially the beds and having a balcony with a beautiful view was a major plus!
