We stayed here while seeing Custer Park. Kinda far away but not terrible. The hotel staff were good, but they could use a third person at the desk... The phone was ringing constantly so there was just one person to check people in... Be patient they have a hard job.The pool and hot tub looked good, but we didn't use them. The rooms are big and cleaned well. There is a nice fire pit area outside, and you can get a little view of Rushmore from there.Breakfast: The eggs - terrible, biscuits - very good, sausage - kinda dry, juice - good.Nearby activities: Town is walking distance but there is almost nothing to do or eat in the town and no sidewalk to get there, so eat before you arrive but be sure and stop in at the south end of town to see the chainsaw art guy... He had some really great work!

What you see in the pictures of a queen size room and the room we got are two complete different things. This was the smallest queen room I have ever seen in my life. It was very strangely configured. In order to watch TV, I had to lean over to where my husband was lying on the bed. Room was clean, but the carpeting is very old and outdated. The bathroom? The bar that holds the shower curtain was very rusted and hanging low. It took forever for the water to turn warm. The room we got was right next to the pool so that was an issue because the lights were on. It wouldn't have been so bad but the curtains didn't exactly filter out all the light. And fair warning, the place is up on a steep hill. There were many people walking down the hill to get food and then of course back up it. Parking is an issue as well. If you are on a charter bus, you are not going to have any transportation to go downtown. So be prepared to climb the hill. The overlook was very nice though.Rooms: Our room was terrible. It was a very tiny room and was very strangely configured. It felt very claustrophobic!

Overall we were really impressed by this hotel. We are locals, so we never really take the opportunity to stay locally. We had a room with a jacuzzi and a balcony which faced the hills, and you could see Mount Rushmore from our room. The bed was harder than many I've stayed in, and the pillows very soft, so I (personally) struggled to sleep a little; for others that might be a preferred combination. For being so busy (it looked full), the hotel was really quiet. There was a patio outside with fire pits for guests to enjoy, as well as a pool and hot tub (we did not use any of these though). Breakfast was included, and good. We were down around 7:00 (breakfast starts at 6:30), and they were out of coffee and several breakfast items, though I'm sure they refilled at some point. My only real complaint was the jacuzzi in our room - it worked fine, but when we woke up the next morning and looked in the tub, there was some type of brown dirt or something all around the bottom of the tub. It wasn't there when we started, and there was bubbles in the tub when we used it, so we didn't see it at the time, but all I can think of is that it might have come out of the jets when we turned them on.

I choose this place because It has plenty of parking, and if you're lucky with your room, you can see Mount Rushmore from the hotel.Their rooms are good, clean, and yes, they have a Bible.Pros: Ice machines, heated pool, free breakfast, mini fridge, microwave, balcony.Cons: The rooms coffee pot malfunctioned. The AC only worked for a few minutes at a time. The shower curtain doesn't close all the way.Whoever painted their rooms sucked.

The staff here was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was lovely, it was interesting the way it was perched on the hill. It was cool that you could see Rushmore from the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and surprisingly sound proof considering there was a helicopter tour company on the opposite side of the parking lot(I didn't realize this until I walked outside as one was taking off). I really liked the balcony we had attached to our room. We surprisingly didn't make it into the pool at all but it looked great. The one piece of constructive criticism I would give is regarding the breakfast. It got progressively thinner on options over the 3 days we were there. It certainly wasn't the worst I've seen by any stretch but it wasn't great either. We ended up going out for breakfast the last morning. I'd still stay here again, I'd just plan on breakfast at Grapes and Grinds(which was awesome).

This hotel looks nice from the outside and it’s convenient to Mount Rushmore. But, needs a major overhaul in the common and room areas. Room - curtains hanging off of rod. Bed skirt too long; trip hazard. Common areas the carpet is so worn and dirty; you don’t feel comfortable eating in the breakfast area. Until this place gets a major renovation, I would not recommend.

We had a nice stay here. The Hotel is a bit dated. They ran out of plates for our breakfast on the last day and the floor in the reception area had tracks from a dolly or something that stayed there for two days (nobody evidently mopped the area). The staff was Fantastic! Very nice and helpful. Our room was quiet and clean. Angel at the front desk was especially helpful. Give this guy a raise..:)Rooms: Plenty of towels. Room was clean and the air conditioner worked very well. Bed was comfortable too.

DIRTY ROOMS. First room smelled of smoke and smell bad over all, I complained and they gave me a new room. Thank God that I checked in early because they filled up. Second room was better than the first but we still slept with the window open. Not the cleanest room, but far better than the public areas. Very dirt for 4 in the after noon. Didn’t use the pool area so don’t know about it. Also rooms are quiet small.First motel that didn’t put out eggs for breakfast. Sausage, biscuits a gravy, waffles and assorted dry cereals. Some fresh fruit.I would not recommend this motel and for that matter the whole chain. This is not my first stay in a Baymount but it will be my last.Rooms: DirtyWalkable if you’re in great shape

Overall a very good stay. Our room was good, but had some issues with slow drains, broken toilet seat and a door that did not want to lock when closed. The room was clean and comfortable, but at times the halls were noisy, especially late in the night with folks congregating and visiting. We would stay here again, but be aware that as the season wanes maintenance is put off waiting for the closure of the hotel to do any fixing/maintenance. Breakfast was okay with plenty of selections, but limited seating space for the size and number of people trying to get in during the breakfast hours.

Don't go there if you have a dog. We were told they were pet friendly and it's all pavement. Had a terrible time with our dog, he's not used to having to go on pavement. Plus our room had a stain the minute you walked in the door. Bathroom was in horrible shape, had had a leak and it was a very poor patch job. Told my husband I felt like the ceiling was going to fall on us. Won't stay there again.

Hotel was busy but fairly quiet. Great location overlooking the beautiful town of Keystone. Walking to town from the hotel is easy and recommended. Breakfast could definitely use some tidying up as there was hardly anything hot offered other than pancakes... and waiting in line for the two pancake makers is a little inconveniencing. Staff was great. Rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable.

The hotel has a great location. At night, the Mt Rushmore monument is visible from the parking lot and some rooms at the hotel. The Hotels exterior looks great. However, the hotel inside is very dated and begs to be renovated. The carpet looked very old and dirty. Perhaps it was more old and used than dirty. Bathrooms should be updated as well. Staffing was very nice, and so was the breakfast.

Building possibly a danger. The balcony floor on the 3rd floor are soft with a lot of movement. You can see where cheap patchwork has been done but very dangerous. The hallway floor between rooms 316 and 318 creak so badly because the floor is coming up and no one seems to care. The A/C in our room didn’t work. I had to take out the extremely plugged washable filters, rinse them out, reset the breaker just to have A/C in the room. Found spots of mold in the bathroom due to the high humidity. Carpet coming off near the door entrance. You can tell building maintenance is not a priority. There were no additional linens for the pull-out couch. Cheap fixes and cover up. I would highly recommend you avoid this hotel as it is not safe! It’s only a matter of time before those balconies give out.

If you are looking for a claustrophobic experience, then you have hit the jackpot!!! I was very disappointed by my recent two night stay at the hotel. The only positive the hotel has is its location. It's located minuets away from Mount Rushmore and you can even see the presidents faces from the parking lot.The rooms at this hotel are extremely small and cramped. With barely enough room for a bed and TV stand, it felt claustrophobic. Basically, the room ends as soon as it starts..lolHousekeeping also failed to replace towels or clean the room. My wife asked the front desk in the morning for fresh towels but they weren't replaced. The bathroom size was probably the worst aspect. It was shockingly small and moving around in the bathroom was a challenge. The breakfast area was always crowded and chaotic. There are too many tables crammed in a small space. It was definitely an unpleasant experience both mornings. The swimming pool radiates a strong stench of chlorine. Your eyes will start burning the moment you walk by it.Based on my experience, I can't recommend staying at the Baymont in Keystone. This hotel needs serious improvements to provide even an average experience. Look elsewhere if visiting the area.Rooms: The rooms at this hotel are extremely small and cramped. I was very happy with our three day stay at this hotel. Everything was very clean I witnessed them cleaning the pool which was our favorite hangout place each evening. The breakfast area was clean and replenished multiple times each morning. We are very happy with it. We almost didn’t stay here due to comments on Google, but we were pleasantly surprised and would stay here again!Walkability: Close to the main strip of keystone which was fun. I would suggest finding food areas off the strip where their are some family friendly food spots not as expensive! Grapes and grind was a nice coffee shop too.

This place is minutes from Mount Rushmore which is why we chose it. The room was fine, a little dated but fine. I do think you're paying for the location and tourist trap because it's definitely not worth the rate. Also, if you need new towels or your trash emptied then you need to request it through the front desk. They won't come into your room unless you ask even if the sign is off. Also, be careful with the toilets they don't flush very well. If you have any dietary restrictions definitely consider getting breakfast elsewhere. Breakfast mostly consists of muffins, bagels, toast, pancakes (if the machine is working) and cereal. There's also a bowl of fruit and microwave breakfast burritos and oatmeal. Also, it gets pretty crowded so you may have no place to sit. I did utilize the fitness center which is basically a treadmill, elliptical and bike. The TV doesn't work in there. I did really like how they had parking on the 2nd and 3rd levels so you didn't even need to use the elevator. Which was important because one was broken. We did use the pool but not every night because it does get very crowded. The hotel is within walking distance to the 1880 train station and shops there in Keystone. Overall it was okay.

Nice hotel with a view of Mt Rushmore. Rooms are little smaller but overall a nice experience. There is an indoor swimming pool, a complimentary breakfast and a deck to sit and enjoy with the mountain view. Mt Rushmore is not too far from this place. The location is wonderful. The hotel is lovely. The staff are kind and helpful. The room itself was clean and comfortable with a great view of the hills and keystone boardwalk. Breakfast was good. I highly recommend. The only negative thing I can say is the room is a little smaller than most other places I've stayed.Rooms: Clean and nice.Safety: Very safeWalkability: Easy access to downtown keystone

I worked in the hotel industry for many years and so I have the understanding that ALOT of situations can come up and ALOT is out of the hands of the hotel at times. I always keep this in mind when I start evaluating different hotels . However… this hotel was inexcusable.- Multiple types of bugs in my room- Toilet wouldn’t drain from day one and when asked to have it fixed the employee rather than fixing it handed my wife a dirty plunger and walked off.- In three days the house keepers did not clean the rooms once. When I asked the front desk about it I was shrugged off.- the general cleanliness of the hotel was very poor. All things that in my opinion were preventable or addressable. On a side note the hotel had a decent location but very small rooms. Not saying that aspect was bad but noting it for general inquiries.

Rooms were very nice but ours was extremely cramped. Breakfast bar was great. Service, view and location were all great. Pool was beautiful and big unfortunatly pool was bit cool, hot tub was to hot and one wall was lined with several dirty linen carts which just seemed to alter its majesticness.Rooms: Our room was very nice but cramped.Food & drinks: Great breakfast area very large clean and well stocked. Hostesess were very nice.

The room we occupied was very tiny: 2 double beds shoved against the walls with a small walkspace between. Our dog barely had room to lie on the floor! At least it was clean and up-to-date.We went to see Mt. Rushmore on the first night and returned to find no parking spaces!! We were forced to walk 15 minutes from an overflow parking lot. Second night same story after visiting the Badlands.

Made the mistake of staying here. Had the handicap accessible room. What a joke.... The parking spots are on a horrible angle. I can't imagine trying to get in/out of a wheelchair. And the spots are horribly narrow. Two vehicles next to each other can't open their doors. The room had a broken window. The entry door not only had a safety latch that wouldn't stop a 2 yr old from entering the room, but the door lock wouldn't latch unless you lifted the heavy door. Again imagine someone physically handicapped trying to lock the door. And the bathroom door would catch the tile on the floor making it very difficult to close or open. The bathroom ceiling fan was falling down, and the space between the bed and TV is nearly impossible to squeeze past going from entry door to bathroom with a wheel chair.

Hotel clerk when we arrived didn't seem to understand English real well so it didn't start off well. Got to our room on a hot day to find the AC shut off. Unit worked well and finally cooled down the room. Tile floor was sticky like they used too much soap. Left our footprints on it when we crossed over it. Carpet was dated. Went to get ice on third floor where our room was, and the machine was not working, or at least no ice in it. Tried to take the elevator down to 2nd floor, but it was out of service. Took the steps to 2nd floor but no ice machine. Had to go to the first floor by staircase again. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Got up in the morning to find out stool was plugged after my friend used it during the night. Yup, down all those steps again and all the way to the other end of the building only to find out they didn't know where a plunger was. Said they would bring one up but never did. The three of us had to use the bathroom by pool. That bathroom was filthy. Not a good experience here at all. Only plus was the side view of Mount Rushmore from our balcony.

Pros- 10/10 good location there’s a lot of nearby activities and sightseeing.- 6/10 indoor pool and jacuzzi we didn’t try it but it’s good for family with kids. The smell of chemical ( chlorine ) is kind of strong.- 4/10 breakfast is included but it’s basic ready to eat breakfast like coffee, bread, muffin, pancake is the only one you can make fresh and some fruits. It’s not a hot breakfast where it’s freshly cooked in the kitchen.- 6.5/10 clean room and bathroom. I just noticed that they need to replace the shower curtain when it’s turning light yellow at the bottom.- 8/10 the hotel is surrounded of parking lots whether your room is on the other side you can park close to it.- 9/10 the room has its own clean mini fridge and microwave- 7/10 toiletry set is very decent- 7/10 bed and pillows are soft however, the pillows are folded in a weird way which made it look small. I hope they also update the bed presentation omit the unnecessary details or linen on the bed.Cons- 3/10 room is very small there’s no way for you to walk in if your company is doing something in front of the table or mirror. There’s only one trash in our room and it’s small maybe they should get a decent size and add another trash bin in the bathroom too.- 1/10 WiFi is not working in our room. We are given a room next to the pool area. My husband went to the receptionist to say the WiFi is not working in our room the only response he got was “oh ok”. And he needs an internet to check in with his job instead of working in our room he has to go to the reception area to work.- 3/10 the AC in our room was really loud if you’re sensitive to noise there’s no way it will make you sleep.- 4/10 hot water in our shower takes like a good 5-10 mins to warm up- 2.5/10 bathroom exhaust is barely working in our room so the hot steam from the shower lingers in the roomJust like what the other reviews says you’re paying for the location. The hotel itself has a lot of potential it just needed some more improvements. If it’s not for the location I don’t think a $150+/night ( stayed here during long weekend before 4th of July celebration ) for a small basic room is worth it.Nearby activities: ShoppingFood placesLocal breweriesArcade and mini bowling Sprockets Fun FoundryRush mountain Adventure parkTramway AdventuresSightseeing Mt. RushmoreBear countryWalkability: Less than 10 mins walk from all the shops and food place surrounding the area. One of the best place we found was the Sprockets Fun Foundry decent food and they have fun arcade and mini bowling games.

Breakfast is mostly cereal or frozen burritos. Elevator was broken the entire stay. Trucks pulling trailers were parked by the building taking up to 9 spaces. Not enough handicap spots for access to the 3rd floor. Indoor pool is not heated. Hotel says pets not allowed yet one woman with 2 dogs was walking down the hall. Her chihuahua started growling at my toddler.

Would have given -10. Small. Stains on carpets in room. 1st room we had- the door lock was busted clean off like someone had kicked the door in. No other way of locking door besides deadbolt.Got moved to a different room. Bathroom has BLACK MOLD. A sad replacement for a ceiling as the previous had fallen down. The shower curtain couldn’t be any shorter- another inch and it might as well not exist. The tub drain would give you an ankle deep pond after showering. Soft floors on main level. Parking is Jenga and sucks. The pool is so chlorinated that it will slap you in the face when you smell it. The whole building has been ignored/rundown. The price is only for location and a monster hill to hike up/down. And btw, you cannot see anything of Mt. Rushmore from this hotel.Rooms: Small. Stains on carpets in room. Bathroom has black mold, a sad replacement for a ceiling- where it has fallen down, the shower curtain couldn’t be any shorter- one more inch and it might as well not exist. Soft floors on the main level. Parking is Jenga. Pool is so chlorinated that it will hit you when you smell it. The whole building has been neglected/ignored. Too many short cuts being made by maintenance. Price is only for location. The maid threw out some of our stuff in the bathroom too.Safety: Our first room, the door had been kicked in and the lock was completely busted off. No way beyond the deadbolt to lock door to room. Not safe!!!

This was the most horrific experience I have ever had at a hotel. Our reservation was not correct and when I asked the front desk about it I was basically called a liar. Our room was dirty huge stains on the carpet and furniture. We never got housekeeping services in. 4 days. Our lights went out in our room. We called the front desk to which they rudely replied OK. We then called them back to see if anyone was coming to help whereupon we were told to be patient. Maintenance never came. We found the electrical panel and fixed it ourselves. I asked for an accessible room. Didn’t get it. They offered me a shower chair to help. Never got it. I was told that if we wanted housekeeping services we needed to ask for it. We cut our vacation short because of our horrible experience. I would never recommend this property or this company to anyone.Safety: Our friends were staying in the room next to us. We found out around the third day all you had to do was push on their door and it opened up. The hotel did nothing about this very unsafe issue.
