I was apprehensive to stay here after some of the recent reviews. However, my family of five was pleasantly surprised. Is it luxury- no, it is not. But the room was clean and comfortable and the location cannot be beat. We were able to be in the park for sunset and sunrise, which made the rather steep price worth it.Check in was at the Lodge, 1 mile away and the manager was the one who took care of us, who was excellent. He even gave us his card with a number to call if there were any issues. We were able to have a rollaway bed in our room which made the night much more comfortable than squeezing three kids in one queen bed.

Clean the air conditioner! It’s full of fly poop. You are 100% paying for the location here. The basic room cleaning by the staff was very good and the beds comfortable enough. The view was great. The room itself could use some fixes - the AC was gross and the lighting worked by plugging and unplugging the cord. The staff was great - full of good suggestions and got us extra towels no problem.

My goodness, what a dump. Plan when you visit the Badlands area because there aren't a lot of services. You don't want to get stuck at a dump like this. First of all the walls are like cardboard and the shower barely worked. The water that came out of the faucet was brown. Bugs, everywhere. Too add insult to injury, this person named Kyle who worked there was a real little snot. He didn't give one darn about any of the problems. I wish I had looked at these reviews more carefully.

My husband and I stayed here on 7/8. When we showed up to check in to our pre-booked reservation, we were told that their system was malfunctioning and that they didn't actually have any rooms ready. There was one room, however, that was vacant, it just wasn't clean. They offered to give us fresh towels and sheets and to let us stay in the dirty room for half price. It was nighttime, we were exhausted from a day in the park, and there really aren't many other hotels in this area, so we agreed to stay in the dirty room for half price. When we got our invoice via email the next day, though, I noticed that we were still charged for the full amount. I thought maybe the refund was just processing, so I gave it some time to hit the account. When we still hadn't received the refund nearly a month later on 8/5, I sent an email to the address on our invoice to inquire as to the status of our refund. I got a reply back the following day from the corporate Aramark team letting me know they had forwarded my email directly to the property, who would need to handle processing the refund. On 8/14, I still hadn't heard back from either the corporate Aramark team or the property directly, so I sent a follow-up email. No one responded.I tried calling the property directly, but I was never able to get through, so I called the Aramark number on the bottom of the invoice after a week-and-a-half of radio silence on 8/22. I spoke with someone on the reservations team, who eventually had to pass me off to one of her team leads. In total, I spent over an hour on the phone trying to resolve this, and at the end, the team lead said she would need to contact the property directly to take care of it. I was supposed to receive a follow-up call from the property within a day or two and should have received the refund within a week.Today, 9/1, I still hadn't received any communication from the property or from Aramark, and I hadn't received the refund, so I reached back out. Again, no one answered at the property, so I called Aramark and spoke with someone in the reservations department. The person I spoke with wasn't able to help me, so I was put on hold for another 30 minutes while the team lead got involved. The team lead told me I needed to call someone at Cedar Pass Lodge because no one was working at Badlands Inn today. So I called Cedar Pass Lodge. The guy at Cedar Pass Lodge tried to process the refund, but he wasn't able to. He said I needed to speak to someone in Accounting. When I asked him to provide me that contact information, he didn't know what it was. So that call resolved absolutely nothing. I had to call Aramark back and again speak with another rep and another team lead to try to get the refund processed. It's been almost two months, and I still don't have my refund. The property itself is fine. Rooms are basic, but comfortable enough. Location can't be beat for Badlands NP. Just pray they actually have your reservation when you show up. And make sure you get a copy of the invoice when you check out rather than having them email it to you so you can resolve any billing discrepancies on the spot.

I really wanted to give this place a good review but alas I cannot…On the plus side:View is awesomeRoom was cleanOn the down side:Office is only randomly manned and at first said they could not check us in - said we would have to go to nearby facility to check in.Advertise satellite TV - but no, not there - they have a hand written note on office door that says TV doesn’t work. There is no free breakfast which is still listed on several sites.Seems like this place has cheaped out in several area and figure they can get away with it as they are the only game in town - shame on them….

This place is about as close as you can get to to the Badlands and not be legally inside their boundaries. Great views and close proximity to the park entrance. Staff was good working under a loss of technology for check in. Overall I'd stay here again and recommend it as a good basecamp location for exploring Badlands National Park.

This is a basic inn with basic amenities but the location is what makes it great. I cannot emphasize how awesome it was so be able to lay in bed and see Badlands National Park. The park entrance is right down the road so it's a perfect home base for exploring the park. The staff was friendly and helpful and it was quiet & peaceful at night. Sure, it isn't anything fancy but does it really need to be? Don't let the bad reviews scare you. As long as you go with the right expectations you won't be disappointed.

I honestly do not understand the poor reviews of this place. It’s a 2-star hotel, so don’t expect a super fancy spot. However, it’s clean, beds and pillows are comfy, location is unbeatable, safe, and right next to the Badlands entrance. Recommend for sure. Just know there are a couple places for food around. We were in a road trip so had snacks and stuff. We stayed one night and loved it—esp bc of the sunset and sunrise. Being so close to the park, it’s only a 10’sh min drive to the overlook for sunrise, so you can still get a good night’s sleep.

A cold rain was coming down as we made our way to Badlands Inn the end of May. We had a reservation and decided stop by early. Cheryl let us ck in. Very accommodating and friendly! Nice hot shower and comfortable beds. Reheated left overs in the mic for dinner. But, It was the view that was amazing! The next morning the sun came up and we sat out on the balcony walk and had our bfast, gazing at the fabulous view. It's a great place to stay with all the basics. We loved it!.

I struggle with this review as this place is an interesting juxtaposition. Pros. Great great great location if you are visiting the Badlands. The room faces north to the formations so the view is great. The sun stays out of the room due to the northern orientation. It’s decent. It’s old in some places and a few small updates have been made. The location is on the east side of the park where many trails are and the park buildings are located. The majority of the room was clean. Not super detailed cleaning, but clean.Cons. The air conditioning was loud. We got used to it, but you can tell they are old air conditioners and make the old air conditioning noises. The construction must be wooden as we could easily hear the footsteps above. The staff, super personable. So, yes I would stay here again. It’s older, but the location was great.

This hotel was the most beautiful place I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in my entire life/travels. There was nothing like waking up, looking out my window and seeing the badlands right in front of me. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is clean, the hospitality workers were fabulous. There were deer outside every morning. The town next door was so cute too. You can take the highway right to rapid city through the back way & it’s super scenic. I will 100% be back here. Amazing.

This place is not "fancy" by any means, but was perfectly clean, tidy and had all the things we needed for our stay. We were a little wary of some of the bad reviews, but could find nothing in our room to complain about. Clean room & sheets, hot water, and Air-conditioning made this place a nicer than average motel experience. Stay here if you want to be in the park within 2 minutes of waking up and don't need all the bells and whistles of a 5 star luxury hotel.

The location couldn't be better: just outside the visitors' entrance to Badlands National Park. This motel is nothing fancy, so adjust your expectations accordingly. But the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the view of the park's towering formations (especially from the second floor rooms) was spectacular. We found the desk clerk/housekeeper/all-around-indispensable employee we met there to be super friendly and ready to help. Thanks for the tea bags for we two non-coffee drinkers! Many places we visited on this post-pandemic trip out west have been short-staffed, so please try to be understanding. Also, plan ahead, everything is FAR away. We arrived short on gas with no breakfast items for the next day, and the only nearby convenience store closed at 7 pm.

The purpose of staying here is so you can spend your free time in the national park. Wife & I walked in & both said "nice room". Bathroom was dated but clean. I like going into the park & stargazing @ night, so the 10am checkout is a little early, but everything else was perfect for what we needed.

This place is just a few hundred yards from the park entrance. It's nothing fancy, but a great location and spot to sleep. No ice machine which we really could have used. It's awesome to watch the moon rise over the Badlands from your hotel though! I would definitely recommend if you need a quick place to stay. Super reasonable price, good customer service.

It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The door lock needed attention and the dead bolt didn't work at all. It probably hasn't been updated since the 50s. You can see the Badlands features out the window. $130 for a room. It's a $60 room anywhere else but you pay to be in the vicinity of the Badlands. You're a captive audience. But again, it was clean and comfortable.

This is a great little motel! As other reviewers noted, it is dated and a little worn. However, it is clean!! Honestly, I can deal with some wear, tear and old door knobs as long as it is comfy & clean! If this is your first trip to the Badlands (as it was ours), this motel is located just a stone's throw from the Cedar Pass Lodge, restraunt & campground. It is convenient to the night sky viewing program put on by the NPS, and is just off the 240 Badlands Loop. Great little place!

My wife and I stayed here when there was a bad thunderstorm with a tornado warning and were very happy. It's a perfect hotel to view the Badlands and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's a little more expensive than the hotels in Wall, but it's right next to the park. We were even able to hike the morning before checkout.

The view from all rooms is out of this world. We enjoyed two sunsets and a sunrise. Convenient to the Park. Room was spacious, comfy, and clean. Had everything we needed. Didn't matter, but the towels were amazingly plush!

Affordable, clean, good view of the Badlands, and we were able to do a late check- in. This was one of our stop for our family road trip to Yellowstone. We called them on our way and was able to secure a room with 2 queen beds. It was me and my husband, and 3 kids. It was tight, but we just need to sleep for 5 hours then explored Badlands in the morning and on the road again for Yellowstone. Good place to stay.

The room was filled with bugs, including what looked like a a dead roach. The faucet water was visibly brown. The shower handle fell off and had been broken the entire time but no one fixed it. In addition, the bathtub was peeling and rusty. The only outlet in the room that worked was the one next to the bed. Accidentally left something behind and immediately called the manager so we could pick I up on the return trip, and they never called back or returned our item. Our room the first time around wasn't properly kept and the towels were just left in a pile.

For the location, it’s hard to beat. The microwave and fridge were a nice touch. Stayed here 2 nights and we were mostly satisfied. Rooms were honestly cleaner than we expected. Super close to the park and visitor center.

I just wanted to pass along feedback of our stay on the night of 7/3 to 7/4. Upon checking in, we found the room was filthy. The lamp was broken with the light bulb literally hanging inside the lamp. There was (as the office lady stated) "fly poop" everywhere. My wife had to go to the office and nearly in tears thinking it was bed-bug tracks. The office worker assured us it was not. We asked for another room and were told there wasn't any other rooms. That was just the beginning of the issues. None of us slept AT ALL the entire night because there was a constant VERY LOUD mechanical humming noise that would run for a few minutes, then stop for a few minutes and then repeated over and over all night. It was so loud it actually vibrated the walls in the bathroom and the bed furthest from the door. We were in room 5, so I am not sure if it is the same in all the rooms. It was not the A/C though (or even another rooms A/C). I think it had something to do with their big freezers. Then, we went to check all, all the workers were loading towels into the back of a trailer and nobody was willing to help check out even after asking. Finally, I just dropped the door keys on the counter and left. This is by far the WORST hotel stay I have ever had and my family and I travel every summer.
