We had a travel trailer, sites were nice, level and easy to get into. Quiet and peaceful setting although close enough to the National park entrance and the Loop road with hikes and overlooks.Heard cow moos in the distance at night. Host were friendly, and knowledgeable. clean, well kept and actually green. Located next to the white river. Would defiinetly stay here again if visiting the Badlands.

I absolutely loved this nice little park. We didn't use the amenities because we came to visit the Badlands. We spent several days sightseeing the park and it was very much worth the time and money to stay here.Everyone we met was super friendly and welcoming! Grant it, I'm writing this review a year later, but it's still fresh in my memory! Thank you for such a wonderful site and a great vacation spot!

3.5 stars - CABIN A/C UNIT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. It was a very hot outside (99) but for the price of cabins, the property owner(s) needs to invest in adequate units that are larger and work for weather extremes or store industrial fans for open window air movement. Getting up every two hours, to kick start an a/c unit, after being on the road for twelve hours, is NOT fun. :(The employees/management are very nice and the property is kept very clean. Bath-house (near) cabins was sparkling clean, which is always a big plus.

This is a great place to stay to explore the Badlands. The sites are a little close but not bad. Our pull through site was level. We used our AC all the time and did not have any problems. The bathrooms were clean- we did not use the showers. They have a nice food shack to get breakfast and dinner. The laundry facilities were clean but more expensive than other KOAs we’ve stayed at. We would stay here again. The staff was very friendly.

5 stars!! The White River KOA is a great campground. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The restrooms are clean and have hot showers. The scenery is amazing. Plenty of shade trees so you're comfortable on hot sunny days. We stayed in a tent.My 5 year old loved the playground and the pool. I do not have one complaint..only compliments!! We will be back every year. The giftshop is very reasonably priced and has a good selection of quality shirts, hats, and other souvenirs.Plus, this KOA is just a couple minute drive from the Badlands!! I strongly suggest this location. Your family will have a great experience.Joe K

KOA is almost always a great RV stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice location with nice sites. We came late season and didn't use all the amenities but still loved our stay. We had site #160 don't recommend this site but most are great. Wish they had a little less bright street lights. Maybe use red or dimmer or less light pollution and better star gazing. Would stay here again.Nearby activities: Badlands National Park

Very nice campground and helpful staff. Our site overlooked a field and was peaceful. Only negative was sewage smell sometimes wafted over as the sewage ponds and concrete tanks were behind the sites, but it wasn't bad enough to not be able to sit outside. The campground is laid out good and sites are roomy enough compared to other campgrounds near National Parks. We would definitely stay here again.

Campground was nice with room between us. We had 159 and our son had 160. Easy access for a 44 ft motorhome and level. People were very friendly. We would stay again. Go in with groceries. One convenience store with a few things, but pricey.Nearby activities: Badlands National Park is very close.

We love this campground! Staff is very friendly, professional and willing to help with anything. Our site was huge with a very nice table (with umbrella) and chairs, grill and fire pit. Bath and shower rooms are very clean. The food from the Cook Shack was great, including the pancakes. We will be back!Nearby activities: Lots of activities for adults and kids. And the pool was wonderful.Safety: We felt very safe, entrance is monitored by staff.Noteworthy details: Loved the pet park. We had our 4 chihuahuas and this made it very easy for them to run and play.

Only stayed for a night but couldn’t get over the kind and attentive staff who kept us informed about potentially bad weather via text. Very well maintained and quiet with fun amenities for kids (pool, playground, etc). Handy location for exploring the Badlands! We were here in 2012 and remembered it being really nice and it still holds to be true.Nearby activities: Badlands, Wall Drug, 1.5 hrs from Rapid CityFood & drinks: Had a small restaurant with very reasonable prices.

I’m not sure how this is a holiday KOA property. It should be a journey, we travel full time and this was by far my least favorite KOA. Things don’t get maintained they wait for them to fall apart and then “fix” it. After several loads of drying my clothes I realized the dryers weren’t heating at all, zero propane, they ran out. Shouldn’t that be something you check daily? Then wake up to water completely off one day which didn’t get fixed till 5pm that afternoon. The water quality is TERRIBLE! You need a double, triple, quadruple filter, actually just bring water bottles because no filter will work. The water will still taste like soggy, wet, socks. The photos with concrete pads and spacious sites are NOT what the park looks like, only in various corners at specific angles do these sites exist. You’ll most likely be shoved in this tiny tiny cramped together space where you can’t even park your vehicle with your rig. If you can you need to be very careful when you backup etc so you don’t hit another RV.This is an honest opinion from a full time RV’er who travels for a living. I could add so much more like the never ending biting flys and biting sand fleas that make it so unenjoyable to even stay outside your RV. We typically enjoy eating dinner outside as a family but that’s not possible at this KOA. Good luck!

Very well managed and clean Campground. Campsites are about the normal size one would expect at a KOA. Water, sewer, 50 amp electric, and cable at a fair price.Cell service is poor because they are in a valley, but the free WiFi should enhance your signal. They offer a free pancake breakfast one morning of your stay, the pancakes were good but expect a wait as they are obviously popular. They also offer dinner for a price, the hamburger I had was good, but the personal pizza my wife had was disappointing, very little flavor. There are many other options on the menu. This campground is close to the Badlands and well worth the stay.

The location is close to the Badlands National Park. We were just passing thru, staying one night. They have a nice dining pavilion with an adjacent kitchen. They offer a free pancake breakfast. I expected something more for the breakfast. You get a ticket for breakfast when you check-in. This entitles you to one pancake breakfast plate. I felt they were being cost conscious. They do offer other breakfast items for purchase.Nearby activities: Badlands Natuonal Park

Enjoyed three nights at this KOA - decent-sized tent spot at the back of the campground. Facilities were nice, private bathroom/shower rooms were fantastic (even though there’s only two in the tent area - one or both were frequently in-use, especially in the mornings). On-site cook shack cooked up a tasty breakfast (got a ticket for free shortstack of pancakes, that was a nice touch). Also shoutout to the workcamping family, they were great hosts and even helped direct water away from my tent when we got nearly 6” of rain in a single day. Fantastic customer service.Would definitely stay here again!

The staff is very friendly. Restrooms clean.Needs some upkeep. The squeaky swings in the play area are reminiscent of a horror movie. They could use a good bit of WD40. There are lots of Large, dead tree branches, many that hang right over RV parking pads that could be devastating in a storm. Text communication from staff is nice. For pertinent messages I would suggest sending the message more than once. Many visiting could be touring the Badlands and not receive one message due to limited cell service. Great location to Badlands.

Credits to the manager of this KOA as they have a great location but with challenges. I read the recent comments from guests and management responses. It definitely sounded like there was concern and follow-up of complaints. To future guests, my advice is to be prepared. The beautiful campground is surrounded by a creek and the White River. That translates to mosquitoes and flies. Bring repellents. I had repellents and used a Thermacell device which I was pretty happy with. In addition, management does fogging to try to mitigate the mosquitoes. They also send out text messages alerting guests to weather conditions etc. I appreciated clean bathrooms and chairs in there which being slightly handicapped helped me get dressed safely. Bottom line, this KOA is a great basecamp for exploring Badlands National Park and the surrounding area.

Campground not bad. Restroom/ showers were cleanLaundry room was nice and clean. Mother nature decided to make it rain and hail the second night we stayed. Had damaged to our truck and camper. Leaving in the morning wasn't the easiest. After my husband trying for 15 minutes getting out of our site a couple camp workers came to help get us out with out any more damage.

Facilities, great. Dish wash stations, showers, clean bathrooms, open campsites and very friendly staff. But I have to tell you, the mosquitoes here are the worst I have experienced from quite literally, South Dakota to Alaska. I just finished spending 3 months in Alaska, a state known for Mosquitoes that take down whole Moose. This, is on a whole other level. I appreciate the notice about fogging for them, but different measures need to be taken to handle the mosquitoes. They ate me alive while breaking down camp and am walking away with 13 bites on my feet, 4 on my neck, and too many to count on my arms and hands.

Quiet spot and a super quick drive to the Badlands. We used the pool and took advantage of the food shack. Nice mix of classic KOA and updates. I stayed in the classic cabin and my friend rented the new glamping pod, which was really nice. Staff are so attentive. Everything is really clean. Good internet. Bonus if you're a birder - so many to watch on the campground because of the river.Nearby activities: A lot of people set up shop and travel from here to Rapid City, Wall, Badlands.

Just spent about a week there over the 4th. Great Camp ground, beautiful scenery and great activities to do all around. Bathrooms were super clean, lots of things for kids to do, staff was freaking amazing! The campsite was super great, we had a storm one night but still enjoyable. Theres a pool, mini golf, basketball, bags and so much more! I suggest taking the badlands loop and check out the lookouts! Also there is so much great hiking, we were also close enough for us to go to the Blackhills and Mount Rushmore as well. We never were bored! Next time I definitely want to get one of the super cute cabins! See ya next year!

Amazing place. Stayed for 5 nights. Only downside is even after they sprayed for bugs, the entire time there was a ridiculous amount of flies. Honestly the most I've seen camping yet. Other than that the site is great pool is relatively clean and everything is as amazing as you'd expect from the location.Noteworthy details: Nice, except lots of flies.

This is the second time we've stayed at this KOA and it is just wonderful. Pancake breakfast, a pool, activities for the kids (we had 4 kiddos get their faces painted and they LOVED it), and just all around a great atmosphere. The staff clearly enjoys what they do. My 6 year old son already wants to go back, he had so much fun. We will definitely stay here in the future!

Staff are very kind. The campground is well kept and quiet. There are on-site amenities such as mini golf to keep busy. Laundry is $2.25 for washer and $1.00 for 20 minutes of drying. The location is just a few miles from the entrance gate to Badlands, meaning you are far enough away to escape the crowd but close enough to ride a bike. I would highly recommend this KOA.

Overall decent stay however we did "complain" about an unoccupied Kamping Kabin AC unit running, making noise, disturbing our peace and quiet and NOTHING was done about it. If the cabin were occupied that would have been one thing but it was not occupied and the AC just ran and ran and ran, and it was not quiet. The pricing structure for the "free pancakes" when you add something to the order is odd in my opinion. We made some additions to the two orders of "free pancakes" and instead of just paying the difference between the two and four pancakes for one order the coupons were used as a four pancake order and we were charged for the two pancake order (a few dollars more than what made sense to us). They were just OK and the coffee really wasn't even just OK.Pool was nice and we used it for an hour or so.Washrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. Laundry facilities were good.Good location relatively close to Badlands National Park. We would stay again if ever in the area.Second best KOA of five that we stayed at during our recent road trip.

- friendly staff- pool was terrific and my kiddo loved the playground- I was thankful there was a lot of shade.- they have a little cafe for breakfast and dinner... we had dinner and the tacos were really very good..I have never been to South Dakota before and we spent 5 nights in the state (couple of them here) and it was hot- like most of the country and so many bugs and moths, etc.We left super early because this pod had some issues with lots of ants.... definitely do not eat in them :).If they get that under control it was such a cute spot and had decent AC which we were very thankful for, as well as, the shower and bathroom. We met some wonderful families here and enjoyed a campfire... lots of space and fun for the kids.. free mini golf was a hit!
