I have stayed here several times since Matt and Beth took over. I think its a great place. You can't beat the owners, who always have time to visit and ask if we need anything. They are very friendly and genuine people. The location is unbeatable, being centered in the Black Hills. The property is well kept. You can tell the ownership takes pride in their business and in improving, and growing their vacation destination in the Black Hills. See you guys next time.Rooms: They are not brand new cabins, but as I travel the things I look for are clean floors, hairs that are not mine, bedding that is old and dirty bathrooms and counters. Never once have I encountered any of those ugly red flags. They take pride in their rooms.Nearby activities: Close to all activities, grocery store and restaurants

I would definitely stay here again. The family that owns this place was very nice and helpful. We rented condo D and it was very clean and cozy, nice little outdoor space with a fire pit/picnic table area. Love having the garage attached and a washer and dryer. The playground was great and I suggest taking a walk down the road to the lake - absolutely beautiful. Wish we had more time to just sit around and fish at the lake that was so close … next year though!Good location, there’s lots of restaurants around and a grocery store up the road a few miles. The owners live on site and were friendly and welcoming, it was just a really cozy and safe place and we will definitely be repeat guests.

The owners Matt and Beth were the absolute best! Our group stayed in cabin #5 for four nights and found it super clean and cozy. The location was right in the center of everything we wanted to check out while on our trip too. They have chickens and a friendly pup named Charlie too, which made us feel right at home. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're planning a trip in the area.

Really grateful to the couple who owns this place. They had a ramp for my dad to get in and out of our cabin (Cabin D) and, they had a very clean place. I am so grateful to this place for being here and, having an ADA accessible cabin for my parents and I to stay in !Rooms: Cabin D is an ADA accessible unit.

My wife and I absolutely loved staying at Robins Roost. Matt and Beth were gracious hosts. They were so helpful in recommending places to visit in South Dakota. We stayed at cabin #5 which was perfect. We truly enjoyed visiting with Matt and Beth. A genuine couple who work hard daily to keep their guests happy. Do yourself a favor and book their cabins. We hope to see them again.

Great place for our family vacation stay. Very family-friendly. Great central location - easy drive to just about anywhere in the Black Hills area. Even though this was the first time we met them, we truly felt more like long time friends of the owners, rather than just cabin tenants for a few days. Any time we needed anything - they were right on it. The cabins themselves were older, but most of the important things to a traveler (mattresses, bed linens, towels, flooring, appliances, etc.) were fairly new, making for a very comfortable stay. They will definitely be our first choice on our next Black Hills trip!

We arrived and were met by the owners. There is no specific front office but they saw us arrive and met us with the key and showed us around the cabin. Very clean. The owners were very friendly and happy to chat and give suggestions of where to eat, etc. We stayed in Cabin 7 and our daughter was able to easily play at the little play ground set while we were at the cabin. We could see her out the window. Had everything we needed but we didn't spend much time there, as we were exploring and hiking a lot. The fire pit/ picnic table area is fairly small. Not a problem for us.We had no issues or problems and would highly recommend these cabins.** ONLY HEADS UP - The internet and phone reception is very hit or miss. We were aware of this after reading other reviews and were expecting it. This is something you will deal with throughout the ENTIRE Black Hills, unless you are right in one of the towns. It is nothing against the cabin / owners, just a heads up so you are prepared.

We stayed 5 nights in Condo B with 2 adults and 4 children and truly enjoyed every minute. The Condo was updated, surprisingly spacious with higher ceilings, clean and had all the necessities from kitchen utensils, dinnerware and pots and pans to a washer and dryer. The owners stopped by to greet us and communicated important information impeccably both before and during our stay, they were so friendly and accommodating. Parking is somewhat limited but they let us know before our stay and there is adequate space for a vehicle at each cabin/Condo. They also gave us some good recommendations for future visits. The location was perfect, just outside of Hill City which has a great grocery store and close to all the main attractions in the Black Hills. There is a UTV rental place next to the property that we took advantage of and got to explore lots of trails in the area. It's also close to Breweries and Wineries and with Candyland close by the kids were in heaven. The evenings were perfect for sitting outside and relaxing and there are firepits to enjoy and a gas grill with utensils available to use, they were even thoughtful enough to have a roasting stick available so the kids could make their s'mores. The beds were very comfortable (for someone who doesn't sleep well in strange places, I slept great). We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Robin's Roost, thank you for a great visit!

This is an amazing business owned and operated by awesome people! The cabins are perfect, and the views are unbelievable. You can sit outside and see deer meander around the property while they graze (kids love it) and overall it's an absolutely lovely and quiet property to relax at. This is our favorite spot to come and stay at and we highly recommend it!

The cabins are easy to get to, close to town and close to Mt Rushmore. They are well kept, clean, cozy, and homey. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen offered a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and full set of dishes and utensils. Matt and Beth (owners) are friendly, accommodating, eager to make our stay the best it could possibly be. We stayed 2 nights but wish it could’ve been longer. We will definitely be back!

Robins Roost was a perfect sized cabin for my Dad and Daughter trip. We were looking for something smaller, affordable, and in a good central location. Robins Roost is perfectly located just outside (within maybe a mile or so) of Hill City which is central to all the main sight seeing locations (Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Black Hills, ect). The cabin we chose, cabin 4, was the perfect size for the two of us, although four people could fit comfortably. It was clean, had all the essentials, and was comfortable. Basic kitchen utensils, cookware, drinkware, dishes, coffee maker (with filters), oven (oven is older style so pay close attention to the dials), full size fridge with freezer, TV (with cable), microwave, bedding, AC unit in bedroom, two space heaters (that work insanely well), dish soap, hand soap, towels, bath rug, and toilet paper all included. We were out and about most of the time but this quaint little cabin was perfect for us to come back to and relax at. Campfire pit and picnic table worked well for smores and hotdogs (although charcoal grill also included). The cell signal is ok outside of the cabin and the wifi works well but being outside any major city isnt insanely fast (although we were rarely on our phones). The owners were friendly and stopped by to introduce themselves and ask if we needed anything. The chickens they own were fun and gave it that farm feel by greeting us once we came outside each morning. My only criticism would be the water, Im from a place with a shared well and water is softened with salt, unsure of the water supply but cold water ran cloudy. We fixed this by drinking bottled water/using a filtered bottle system. Showering the water was fine, it didn't cause any breakouts on my skin. Overall this was a lovely place to stay and on my next trip out I will be staying here again.

Great place to stay. Stayed four nights and made use of it's central location. Cabins show their age but bathroom was updated and everything was clean. Never touched the TV as the evenings were better spent making use of the fire pit. Was able to enjoy things from Deadwood to Custer Park with an easy trip back to our base camp each night.

Let me start with putting previous comments in a better light. If anybody is expecting a 250 dollar cabin but wants to pay half, let me know where I can find it. Robins Roost Cabins are budget cabins in a rather expensive area. If you arrive with that mindset, you will have a fantastic vacation here. The cabins were dated, but clean. Basic, but functional. It's great for families; our kids made friends the minute we arrived. You will find yourself within 20 minutes of all major tourist destinations in the Black Hills and have a small fishing lake right up the hill. The main highway is a bit noisy, but overall it is calm and peaceful. The owner checked on us a couple of times and is a very pleasant person to make you feel at home. If you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere. These are your grandpa's cabins in the woods... and for the price they are great.

Great place to stay, owners are very friendly and they make sure you're enjoying your stay. This is an usually expensive area but these cabins were on our budget, the beds were very comfortable and the view is amazing. The thing that our family loved is that it's close to Rapid City and Keystone but not too close so you still can feel away from all tourists places. Highly recommend this place if you want to have a budget friendly vacation.

Great place to stay, the hosts were wonderful. Our condo looked like it was just recently remodeled and was very clean. Was a great place for us as it's close to major attractions. Also close to town, Hill City has a nice grocery store.

We had a great time over memorial weekend. The cabin was cozy and comfy, the owners incredibly friendly and helpful. The cabins are located close to all the things we wanted to see, couldn't have been more convenient. We will be staying here again next time we come to SD!

My family and I arrived at Robins Roost and, upon our initial inspection of the 2-bedroom condo, found it to be very nice. The living room furniture was old and appeared dirty, but overall the condo itself was newer and seemed clean. After coming back with dinner, my son and I went to get our things situated in the master (king) bedroom and that is when it all went downhill.I noticed a spot of blood on the comforter of the bed and we immediately called the owner who said she would bring a new comforter right away. Finding that spot made me wonder what else was on the comforter that I could not see. We began re-examining the place with a fine tooth comb; after opening the roll-away bed (which looked as though it was used in one of the wars) we found blood on that comforter too. Still looking throughout the house, my son noticed, what appeared to be blood spray, on the ceiling in the King bedroom! Needless to say we did not feel comfortable staying in this condo. The owner came down and repeatedly stated it did not look like blood to her; however, she was not staying there and, it is her job to ensure her guests are comfortable with the accommodations. While she did offer us the 3-bedroom condo, I had to refuse as it was in the exact same building as the 2-bedroom! She returned our check, we packed up the car, and left to find another place to stay. The owner is fairly new however, it was obvious she had not thoroughly checked her property before renting it; relying on housekeeping to ensure your buildings are acceptable to rent is not always the best way to conduct business.

We just got back from vacation and this place was great! The prices are very reasonable & the owners are very knowledgeable about the area and they make sure you have everything you need. Super friendly family and they truly want your vacation to be as good as possible. Cabin was clean & well kept, location is great for all of the tourist activities. I would highly recommend staying here, we definitely will be going back here on our next trip to the Black Hills!

Family friendly getaway - we enjoyed our time here. The nightly rate was great, we were near the major attractions, and had a cabin that suited our needs. It’s equipped with kitchen, TV area, and a separate bedroom. Would visit again.

I love it here. It's so centrally located that most of the Black Hills attractions are within easy reach. The cabin is comfortable and clean, and it was really helpful having the kitchen. Excellent experience overall.

This is a great cabin rental just off Hwy 385. The cabin i was in was well kept and clean with all the the things you need in the kitchen to cook plus a Webber grill for bbq. The owners, Matt and his wife made me feel welcome and were very freindly. If you like to fish or just want to go for a senic stroll, the dam of Mitchell Lake is only an 1/8 mile away which is quite beautiful.
