We had a wonderful stay here. The hosts were extremely gracious and accommodating. We made last minute plans for a quick weekend getaway and they made it all possible. They went above and beyond! You couldn’t meet a nicer couple. We give them 5 stars for their hospitality! Be sure to ask them for our evening drink in which we were unable to partake.

We rented a cabin for a 3 night stay for my brother's wedding. I am more then impressed with the stay. The cabin was perfect and the owners where extremely nice. Even called to make sure we were warm enough or if we needed an extra heater or blankets. After our stay my wife and kids asked if we could make this a yearly family trip. Thank you to the staff for the great stay!

What a great place to stay! We booked a room in the lodge, but the owners called and said our room was being renovated, so we were upgraded to a cabin! The cabin was perfect…the bed and bedding were more comfortable than anyplace we’ve ever stayed. The cabin was so cozy, super clean, and a perfect location in the Hills. Cary & Melissa were awesome hosts and we will definitely stay here next time we come out!Rooms: Extremely comfortable mattress & linens. Perfect size for just the two of us. Also had a large stock of big, fluffy towels. Must nicer towels than any hotels I’ve been to.Nearby activities: This lodge is right in the middle of many tourist sites. Very close to lots of restaurants, wineries, breweries. Easy to get to from all directions.Safety: Felt very safe in the little circle of cabins. The property was well lit.Food & drinks: We were offered a complimentary cocktail when we arrived. They had a nice grab & go breakfast and the lobby was so inviting in the mornings with the fireplace, candles…great atmosphere.

This place was fantastic and much better than I had imagined. The location was central for all of the activities we had planned. The room was cozy, clean, and had a microwave and small refrigerator. The bedsheets were soft and comfortable, and the towels were nice and plush! The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the coffee and donuts each morning was an added bonus! The deck off the top floor of the lodge had comfortable patio furniture, grills, and a pizza oven. I would highly recommend Mountain View Lodge & Cabins to anyone visiting the area!

We loved staying here! The staff were so friendly and amazing! The place was well-kept and our room was great. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck by the fire in the evenings. The only reason why I gave the location a 4 instead of 5 star, is it's by a busier highway. Nothing they can do about that, though. When the AC/fan is on, you can't hear it anyways. Just the country part of me didn't get used to the noise. But, the location aspect of where it was related to sites to visit, it is great! I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying here again!

We spent our family vacation here and we couldn't be happier we chose them. The owners are top notch, friendly and so accommodating. The cabins are beautiful and immaculate. They were equipped with everything you could possibly need. The view from our cabin was beautiful! We had a private deck with a grill and fire pit, which made us feel right at home. To top it all off, it is centrally located to everything you could possibly do in the Black Hills.

We stayed at the Mountain View Lodge and Cabins for a week. We booked a lodge room for our family of four. We loved it! You can tell the owners have tried to make it as comfortable and homey as possible. The beds were SO comfortable, the bedding was soft. It felt like being in my own bed. They provided a set of plates and silverware. I used the microwave to reheat meals I had cooked and frozen before our trip. The location was wonderful! We were close to a gas station so we could refill before every day's adventure. We truly loved our time here. It was perfect for our family, and if we ever come back, we will gladly stay here!

We loved the location as it was close to many attractions . The owners were very friendly & helpful. We liked the ambiance and decor of the room we had. They also had cabins behind the lodge. The area is well kept and very clean. We are having our family reunion here summer of 2024. We came up to have a look and check out the area. We LOVED it! We have reserved our room in the lodge and all 5 cabins. One cabin is like a twin or townhouse. Our family is excited about coming here next summer 2024!

This wonderful little family owned lodge in Hill City was the perfect place to stay when exploring the Black Hills area. The owners are friendly and helpful. Cary gave us a great dinner recommendation. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. I would definately stay again and have already recommended the lodge to friends.Nearby activities: Centrally located within the Black Hills area. Easy driving distance to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Cluster State Park, Rapid City, and Deadwood. Also, so many things to see and do in charming Hill City.

We chose to stay at Mountain View because it was centrally located to all the major attractions that we planned to see (Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Custer, Crazy Horse, Deadwood). The rooms had everything we needed since we spent most of our days out exploring. The beds were so comfortable and the linens felt like a luxurious hotel. Our hosts were super helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend Mountain View!

Would highly recommend staying at this awesome place. We stayed in a cabin and the beds were comfortable with a stove and fridge, microwave. Very clean and the owners are very welcoming. The views are great and even has a fire pit and bbq grill if you want to use them. Would give a 10 star if it would let me. Will definitely be back again!!

Rooms were clean, nice towels and bed, the woman owner seemed nice and called day of to see what time we might be coming. End of good review. Room NOT as described. Description online said pool view, mountain view and balcony with fire place. We had neither. I paid extra for the King Suite. It was just a small room with a King bed. We had a view of the parking lot, bumpers and windshields. Since we were ground floor right in front of the parking lot we had to keep the curtains closed because everyone could see right in. Description said breakfast included but found out day of check in that meant bagels and other snack foods. That is not breakfast. To top it off the male owner saw my husband day after check in and asked how it was. My husband said you really don't want to know the owner said yes I do and as soon my husband started to tell him the owner got defensive and that conversation went no where. So since there was nothing to see or do in the room we were only there for sleeping. And any money were thought we were going to save on breakfast we didn't. I thought I was getting a luxury room that we could spend time and enjoy breakfast in the morning. I was disappointed. I could have paid way less if that was all I wanted.

Clean friendly atmosphere. Cabins are well equipped with everything you need. It was incredible to stand right outside our cabin and watch 3 deer run and play. The management was friendly and knew of good places to go. It was great to have free breakfast to grab on the way out for the day. I can not say enough about the cabins, the atmosphere and the ownership.

Wonderful place to stay during our South Dakota adventure! There were 11 of us who stayed in 3 separate suites and we were all thoroughly impressed with the accommodations. Rooms were incredibly clean, beds were very comfortable & were made with quality linens, and the location was perfect - just 10 min to Hill City and close to a lot of the main visitor attractions. The owners are kind, energetic, and passionate about their lodge. Very customer focused! We’ll definitely be back… highly recommend! 😁

There are not enough complimentary words in the English language to speak about Mountain View, its owners and our experience there. From our booking discussion with Cary, to our arrival when we were welcomed so kindly by Melissa and Cary (and got a free drink-FUN) our stay was amazing, accommodations were more than clean and comfortable, the adorable well-decorated cabins had everything you need (your own deck and fire pit!), the linens are heavenly, and we were treated like family. My Mom had a lodge room that was cute, spacious, and comfy. The pool is nice, grab and go breakfast is fantastic, and the location can't be beat. Close to the Mickelson trail, Sheridan Lake, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, etc etc. Don't (or do, lol sleep there) sleep on this one, Mt View Lodge & Cabins are FANTASTIC! We'll be back for certain! ❤️

We had an excellent stay in the lodge at Mountain View. The room was super clean. Our whole family agreed that the beds were so comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The on the go breakfast in the morning was great. And the location is perfect. One night we used the grills, and made our own dinner. And our daughter loved the pool. We'll be back!

Cute little lodge. The hosts were great and nice. The bed was very comfy! Location is great! Only slight complaint would be that upon arrival a cute little Australian shepherd dog was barking at us, but it was harmless.

We had a wonderful experience at Mountain View Lodge and Cabins this last week. We stayed in the Deluxe Family Cabin for 5 nights. It was the perfect size for our family of 5. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to do during our stay. We loved that the cabin had a full kitchen, a gas grill, and our own private fire pit. There were 2 ac units in the cabin, so it stayed nice and cool. And, I have to mention the beds! They were so comfy, that we reached out to the owners after our stay, to figure out where they purchased their mattresses!! The cabin also had a bin of games, which helped entertain the kids while we were in the cabin. The pool was a little underwhelming, but my 2 youngest (8 and 10) didn't seem to mind. It was a pool, so they were happy. Another nice perk were the clean beach towels at the pool. It was nice not having to worry about wet towels hanging everywhere. Overall, we all agreed that we would definitely stay there again.

AMAZING place to stay. Owners are so fun and nice to talk to. Great breakfast complimentary downstairs in lobby and Free beer one drink per person and other things to drink. Rooms were so clean and looked new and loved the ice-cream place across the street. So close to Mount Rushmore and all the attractions. We are coming back September to ride our Harleys.

Great location! Great cabins! Great owners who were helpful, accommodating and friendly to our group of 11 ranging in age from 16 to 70. We all had a great time.Rooms: Everything needed was provided. The cabins were clean, modern, and well maintained. Just had to call if towels, etc were running low and they were delivered quickly.

My family made a great decision staying here! The owners are very nice, and help you if you have any problems or questions. The rooms have a lot of mountain character, and feel to them. There is even an outdoor pool! The breakfast was grab n go style. At the breakfast they had doughnuts, yogurt, muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms were big and nice. On the second floor there were grills, a fire pit, and tables and chairs all on a big deck. The location was great! You can see tons of hills! There are businesses around it but it doesn't make it look like a crowded area. In our room there was a King Bed, we were charged $5 extra for a roll-away bed. Even the roll-away bed was very comfortable. We did have a room switch while we were staying there but the owners were very helpful with moving our luggage.

My husband and myself loved this place! Super clean and adorable rooms decorated with a mountain theme, amazing linens, and towels. Loved the deck with the table top fireplace. The staff is amazing! We loved it so much that we came back later in the week while driving home.

Very clean, comfy beds and new pillows. Bedding was clean and everything is updated. Beautiful deck outside the rooms. The only bummers were that other guests monopolized the deck and some people let their kids run around and they kept barging into our room (4 times). The doors dont lock automatically, so don't forget haha. Otherwise, the location is close to all the attractions that you come for. Definitely recommend this place!

This place was amazing! I am so glad that my family found out about it for our vacation to South Dakota. My husband and I, plus our two kids, had a family suite. It was so nice that my kids had their own room. Everything was so clean and the hotel was so close to many major and fun attractions that the area offers. The hosts were very welcoming and really wanted to make sure that we had a great stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Black Hills!

Thank you Cary and Melissa for being so personable and friendly. You guys really made us feel at home!Mountain View Cabins and Lodge hits the sweet spot between real cabin charm and luxury! Our room was spotless and cozy. The sheets were soft and the mattress... OMG I slept like a rock! Even the towels were sumptuous and not what you'd expect from a place with "lodge" and "cabins" in the name! The coffee and pastries at the continental breakfast were perfect after a great night's sleep! BIG THANK YOU!We will have to plan another trip to South Dakota just to stay at The Mountain View Cabins and Lodge again!

Absolutely Loved ItWe planned our trip to the Black Hills in June 2020 and booked 2 nights here. We absolutely loved it!! Extremely clean rooms, most comfortable bed we've ever slept in, actually plan on getting the same mattress for home. The outdoor fire pit & seating area was very nice, great place to sit and enjoy the night air. The owners are more than accommodating, friendly and informative of activities to see and do on our stay. I would highly recommend Mountain View Lodge and Cabins! We loved our stay here. Cozy, great location, small and quiet, personalized service, and the bed was so comfy. We enjoyed the pool and sitting out by the fire pit, and our daughter enjoyed spending time with the employee Nicole’s son Noah. And we know today is his birthday so Happy Birthday Noah! We hope to return soon!!We just returned from our second visit, and once again we loved it. Thank you for such a great stay!
