There are two women that work in this store that are very rude & condescending. We went to check out our items & they yelled at us for putting the items on the counter to be rang up. After we left the store it was apparent that they were hurrying outside to have their cigarette break. Extremely poor customer service!! Not the first time they have acted this way.

We went to the store on a very strange quest to find a way to repair lederhosen five hours before my boyfriend needed to wear them for Polkapalooza! We explained the situation to James and he went out of his way to go home, grab us a piece of leather to mend them from his personal repair kit, and recommend a glue for us to buy. He was so kind and generous and a very talented leathersmith.

Tried to make a purchase with three different cards on three different banks, all declined. Knowing that my cards were good I told the clerk and the store floor boy that it was their machine. They tried the store clerks card it worked from a scanned label via the scanner connected to the machine. My items were all manually entered. It was as though the clerk and floor boy got great pleasure telling me my cards were worthless which they were not. When verifying that my cards were in fact good the floor boy whom I personally asked to speak to informed me that the stores machine was in fact the problem. He told me the person after me had the same issue. Had I received an apology this review would not have been posted. The store is over priced, the employees are idiots, Just saying!Update on this thieving establishment. Bought two bolts, 6mm x 75mm Ended up being two long. Was charged over 4.00 dollars and change for them. Went to take them back and return was refused because I needed to have 10 dollars worth of hardware to get my money back for something they were selling for 4 times it's value. I have since found the same thing in stainless steel for .42 cents each. I threw them on the floor and left. Never again will I be ripped off from this thieving store. The new owner can pack his pilgrim backside to where ever he originated from. Again, the employees are idiots each an every one.

Awesome place! Every time I am in here, they always have what I need and help to find it in the store.i had a special request for a motorcycle battery and to make sure I was getting the right one ,he made a call to his supplier and within 15 seconds , he handed me the correct battery. The even had 2 in stock!

2017- Nice people, willing to help out if they can. Had a problem with the staff telling me incorrect information once (cost me lots of time that day) but they have improved since.Update June 2018, things seem to improved at the store. Employees seem more helpful and more knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile. Unfortunately Prices are too high in my opinion being that close to Rapid City, but there is no other choice for local residents thus the reason for 4 stars.

Bought a hose adapter there while on an RV trip. Weeks later wanted to buy the same brand again. Gentleman I talked to on the phone went out of his way to find the item on their shelf, get me the brand and model number and I was able to source it locally. Great service, great store!!!

We had 2 batteries go out of our Rescue truck during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Tommy tested both batteries and both had bad cells. They had the exact fit batteries. Thank you! Hill City Fire Department.

Handy store, has most of your basic needs packed in there somewhere but they seem to keep very small quantities of most items as you'll often find the rack empty/on backorder for less common items. Definitely to be expected out of a small town hardware store but it's easy to get spoiled on giant warehouse stores that have plenty of stock

A true one stop hardware store. They have yet to not have what I needed.The owner and employee's are the 2nd best thing about the store....they are helpful and very polite.Their various departments are well stocked and orderly making finding what you want on your own if you choose to do so, a very easy job.Prices are equal to and in some instances less than most real hometown hardware stores....with the exception of the big chain stores.More than adequate variety of just about anything hardware related you might need.Great selection of Wood Cutting supplies from Professional Grade to Home owner / weekend firewood cutter Husqvarna Forestry products is their main brand and Husqvarna is the equal of Stihl in many head to head comparisons.The only suggestion I would give them is to carry a good selection of Hickory or Ash replacement handles for hammers of all styles and a replacement handle for every tool they have in stock from shovels to hooligan bars.A fantastic Hometown Hardware with Fantastic honest people....you can't go wrong by shopping here.Wanted to add Hill City Hardware is our local Husqvarna Dealer and their inventory for Saw parts is really good. I have purchased 1 saw there and plan to get another soon. The service is great and the people are first rate.....they have chain to wedges, Axes to Protective Forestry Gear for the Professional as well as home owner/weekend firewood cutter.If your in the market for a new saw of ANY level.....these guys can help you get what you want.Randy Hill.

Had troubles finding certain glue in cvpvc connectors and the gentleman on the floor helped tremendously and saved me a good half hour of searching, they also held said connectors while I went to lunch waiting for a purchase request at the main office. Would recommend if in the Hill City area.

Hill City is quite a small town and yet this Hardware Store has everything available that the Hardware Stores in the Rapid City have. Prices are equal, customer service is friendly and knowledgeable.
