We spent one day visiting many of the rock shops in the Black Hills area. This was one of our favorites! They had a great selection and a pleasant atmosphere. I got an AWESOME Labradorite from the inside shop and found a little Fluorite and Blue Calcite I liked from digging through their outside bins. On our trip home, my mom regretted not getting a small Rose Quartz heart from them. I emailed the shop with a description of where we left it and the general price range... and they promptly sent me pictures of the options so I could identify it. I paid over the phone and they shipped it the SAME DAY. Thanks for your help and awesome service!

Nice collection of Fairburn agates among other things. The friendly cashier showed me some very rare park agates from the Custer area before it became a state park.

This place is probably the best rock shop in the Black Hills. The outside rocks are very fairly priced, especially the local rocks. The people working the counter have always been very friendly every time I've stopped in.

You NEED to visit this place if you have even the slightest interest in rocks and minerals.Whether you're getting bigger stones for home decoration indoors or outdoors or little fun stones carved with different things or just general rock collecting, you're going to find it there. The staff is also very friendly and very knowledgeable and answers all your questions and may even make you laugh!

This store had sand bags with rocks and fossils to purchase that our granddaughters could sift through. They had such a blast! Great idea for any travelers that have kids/grandkids they are looking for a gift idea for🙂

This place was the best the cashiers were so nice! The outside rocks are cheap and real, but very pretty and 150% worth it the inside was also great they had cute jewelry! Next time I come back to south dakota I will visit again!

We took our 7 kids there ages 9-17 and everyone had a blast. We visited others in the area, but Dakota Stone was by far the best. The price was inexpensive and the gems you got were beautiful and very big. Our favorite mining experience by far!!!

If you have time, and enjoy collecting one of a kind local area stones, this is the place for you. I think I had chosen several different variations of the same stone before I found the exact one I wanted to display in our home. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was worth the stop to get exactly what we wanted.

Love this Rock Shop! Beautiful rocks, great prices! My daughter did the gem and fossel panning (7.50 each). She liked it, and found some neat gems and fossels.
