A pleasant stay while visiting over the 4th of July. My group stayed in tents and we're greeted with a smile as soon as we entered. The on site restrooms and showers were clean and above standard to any other campground I've been to before.Their electric bikes were well worth the cost and time too. We had a blast spending 4hrs on the trails, with a speed assist while going up up up in elevation.I recommend anyone considering camping to stay here. You will not regret it.

This was a fantastic location and cabin. We were celebrating a birthday and this was a perfect spot. We took in rock climbing, yoga festival, and breweries. All within easy driving or walking distance. The facility was more than we expected. Super clean and very friendly. They provided us a cabin that was pet friendly for our little dog and nicely spaced from other guests. Great place to relax and take in all the hills have to offer. Cabin has many more amenities then i expect from individual private cabins. Very clean and cozy. The mickelson trail is right on the property which is great for walking, running, and ebikes that they will rent.Rooms: Rustic Cabin was the nicest i have been in. full bathroom and shower that was very clean.Nearby activities: Great location close to trails and major sight seeing locations. We took in sylvan lake and local breweries.Walkability: Was a great location on the mickelson trail and easy direct walk down to hill city and the new outdoor beer garden at Lost Cabin. 5 min walk on a great trail

Beautiful, clean cabin. We had issues with the smoke detector going off at 0230 in the morning & were comped for part of the night.Sign up for WeatherSense if there's a chance of storms. Initially I was notified that the weather didn't qualify for a discount. However, I emailed & let them know about the rain & hail we experienced. We received a discount later that morning.

Cycled through here on a multi day bike trip and camped - nice little campground, cute cabins. Leaving the next day my own personal bicycle I had brought with broke on me beyond rode repair. The owners set me up with a great last minute bike rental and let me keep it for the remainder of my multi day trip. Bike worked great for the next 150 miles. Saved my whole vacation from disaster, thank you!! Great place to stay and rent bikes from!

The only reason I gave one star is for the people who manage the park they were very nice. This park is noisy and right next to a main highway. The sites are narrow and most sites difficult to park a vehicle close to your rig. Sites #1 and #2 are basically just a parking lot. No grass area and our drain pipe was 10” above ground ground level so nothing drained from the hose it had to be lifted manually. Terrible experience there are many parks near by that are significantly nicer. Will never go back to this park AVOID.

We stayed here for a week. In all honesty this has been the review that we have gone back and fourth on. Truly we feel like it's more a 3 star then a 4, but the owner is absolutely awesome and we believe has good intentions. The river that's advertised as able to float and pan for gold is hardly that. You potentially could, but it backs most of the rv sites and makes it awkward to do so. It would be super cool if there was a designated area for it.There is no playground or grass area, or anything for kids at all. Not a huge deal, but for us it was a negative.Also. The park is clean and well kept, However the sites are VERY small, probably the smallest, or close to the smallest we have ever stayed at. There's several spots that have been added, to create more income for the owners, but make it very unappealing. The entire week we were there the dumpster was overful. There also needs to be more restrooms/showers and laundry. However, as already stated, the owner came by and chatted on several occasions and was very nice, explained that they recently purchased it, and are adding on. As small business owners our selves we totally get where they are, which is a big reason we didn't want to leave a negative review, but a constructive one, and a view from the other side for them.Keep up the great work, and the positive attitude! You guys have a wonderful thing! ❤ Hopefully we will go back through that area again. And we certainly would love to see what you have planned for the addition. The girls say hi and thanks for having us!Best wishes, the Pichons.

Carey and her husband, Henry (I think was his name) really went above and beyond to call and check on us when we were on our way there. They helped us when we needed advice and the facility was clean! The location is a perfect spot for a quiet getaway and not far, at all, from some of the major tourist attractions! I will send people their way as we continue our road trip! If I have it my way, I will be back!Nearby activities: Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse are within 20 minutes from this location! Both a must see!Walkability: Walking distance to some local shops. Dollar General is right across the street!Noteworthy details: The. Creek flowing behind our RV spot was the perfect touch adding to the peaceful getaway

First the lady working reservations was amazingly helpful nice and above average. However we decided to stay one out of our two nights and leave early becuase:1. The sites are so packed that people literally had to move their chairs for us to back in2. There are four sites in a space that three would be pushing it.3. It so tight that slides and awnings get close to touching4. The photos in the website showed a kids area with fun teepee and such which is part of the reason we booked. However they removed it to put in a Pavillion for the cabin renters thus leaving the kids out.

Our cabin, The Silver Maple, was cozy and cute. The location was great for our biking adventure and the cabin was nicely stocked with the normal hotel amenities plus a grill out on an attached deck with table and chairs for seating and eating. The cabin did need a little TLC. The blind on our door was broken and the weather stripping kept coming off every time the door was opened. The A/C unit needed a good cleaning and the windows need coverage that would create privacy. There was left over ice cream in the refrigerator freezer and a bottle of cologne behind the side table left by a previous guest. The manager was a little less than friendly. Not rude, but "short". No "thank you for choosing to stay with us" when we checked out. She did suggest a couple of good eating places when we asked, and we had nice meals while in Hill City. That being said, I think we made a decent choice booking our stay there while we rode a section of the Mickelson Trail.

We loved this place. Spent 7 nights and really have nothing negative to say other than the weak WiFi, if this is important to you. We just used our cell phone hot spot when speed was a necessity. The restrooms/showers/sinks were immaculate. The grounds were clean, mowed, and generally well kept. The staff was extremely friendly/helpful and were smiling at all times. It was an easy mile walk to downtown along the MIckelson Trail which runs through the park. Downtown you will find anything you need and also everything you would expect in a tourist area. Restaurants, bars, shopping, train rides, bike rentals, grocery store, you name it. The area is heaven for a motorcycle rider, which we are. Beautiful day rides in all directions through national forests, state parks, and scenic highways. Easy ride to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, and more. All ending right back where we started, the park. Thankfully we didn't experience the problems others have mentioned. Yes the spaces are small, but I have seen worse. It was quiet and we didn't have the road noise in the wee hours of the morning others mentioned. We read the laundry was next door, so were not disappointed to see we had to walk a couple hundred yards to a laundromat. And really disagree with the clown that went on about people living in RVs and Andrew Yang? Where did all that come from? Had "Nothing" to do with this park! (Sorry, I'm starting to sound like that person) Overall, we would highly recommend this park and would definitely stay again.

Beware! The cancelation policy is intended to rip people off. We had trouble with our 5th wheel that required it to be in the shop. We canceled 2 weeks ahead of time. Only given a camp credit to be used within the next year. What happens if you can't make it..they keep your money. But I am sure that with 2 weeks notice they were able to fill that spot.

Very good place to camp. Was happy with our site. Clean, grass trimmed, gravel lot, right along the creek, and most importantly, very central location. Right on the edge of Hill City main street, could walk down to the shops. Super close to Keystone, Custer, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse. Sites are bigger than many other campgrounds in the Black Hills. Only disappointed by two things that kept them from a 5 star review: 1. No play area for kids. Even just something small is better than nothing. 2. No laundry services, so they say. I saw multiple campers doing laundry at the main office, but when I asked I was directed to the Conoco station. Not very happy about the double standard.... if some guests get to use it, then all should be able to, even for a cost.

I’ve cycled across the country and stayed in dozens of RV parks. Trailside is one of the nicest and cleanest. Lush lawn, the cleanest bathrooms. Right on the Mickelson Trail. The owners are the nicest.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The restrooms and bath house were the cleanest I have ever seen at a campground. They provided small bottles of shampoo , conditioner, and soap. The campsites were clean and orderly. The wrought iron table and chairs are much nicer than the standard picnic tables you get at other sites. The only thing that could have been better is the access to the mountain stream that runs through the campsite. This was grown up with tall grass and was not accessible. Close access to Mt. Rushmore and Sylvan Lakes in Custer State Park.

Good camping spot, I needed a tent site and was already early evening. Was able to go website and book on the spot which was nice.Overall campgrounds are good and clean. My only small issue is their online system optionally charging another $8 to lock in the site after you choose it. Felt a little nickel and diming.Besides that it was a good stay.

This park was exceptional. We only spent one night but they had everything we needed. Very surprised in the morning the new owner actually came to our site to say good morning and make sure we did not need anything. The park is centrally located to the parks in the area. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.

The woman who I talked to was nice and extremely helpful in making sure we had a good spot for my 94 year old Dad to go to the restroom and showers. And speaking of restroom and showers they were great!! Clean and even pleasant on the eyes, unlike a lot of campgrounds. It was a last minute choice to stay in Hill City but one made so much better by the service we got here!

Beautiful Rv park. Staff was friendly and had us checked in pretty quick. Well maintained spots w a small creek running thru it. I enjoyed waking up w the sun and watching the deer in the small meadows. Very close to all the major attractions. Quite at night. Well worth the trip even if gas prices put me on dead broke street😂😂🤣🤣. We didn’t do the trail but the area is absolutely gorgeous. The only issues is the road noise( log trucks) at 4:30am. But hey they got a job to do. Keep on trucking guys, America loves you.

Pros: extremely clean facilities. The bathrooms were some of the nicest I have ever seen in an RV park. They are kept clean and are in excellent shape. People working in the office are super nice. It is very close to Hill City downtown and the 1880 Train as well as is on the Mickelson Trail. However if you want to go to the trailhead you have to ride down a ways into town. Overall a beautiful little campground with nice views. Pet friendly. Nice little playground for kiddos.WiFi available that worked decently enough to steam some of the Olympics.Cons: pretty small spots. We made our reservation for the end of July in early March, we specified we had a slide. Our neighbors fire ring was nearly underneath our slide and we were as far over as we could go in our spot before running into our fire pit the other way. Fire rings weren’t really a feasible thing for us or the neighbors as a result. The spot itself was level enough, but on either side of it it wasn’t level. A pretty good rainstorm came through and we had standing water several inches deep right outside our camper door as we had to go so far that way to fit in the spot. We were also in the low part of the Campground apparently as the entire campground drained through us and our neighbors to the creek. Our mat was literally floating on enough water that when I stepped on it it was up to my ankle. Didn’t dry out in the three days we stayed so the camper was a muddy mess. The sites are very close to the road so there is a lot of road noise. I have lived in some big cities and I’m not usually bothered by road noises but these were pretty loud between the motorcycles and the Side by sides zipping around behind the camper. I was also shocked to see that some of the “spots” for RVs are not really spots but more like “pull to this side of the parking road and make sure you’re far enough over there”. We thank goodness were not in one of these but I would have been very disappointed to have paid to basically park in the road. There are also some very bright lights close to campers, which is great for visibility but does make night time sleeping more bright than preferred.

We were slightly disappointed. The size of this park is small and it was very tight when you were next to another rv. Not a ton of privacy at all. Secondly they did not clean our spot prior to our arrival. We arrived to a lot of leftover trash from whomever stayed prior to us. It was all in the firepit.Lastly they have another company who rents ATV's and UTV's behind the rv sites. Although that is very convenient it was also very annoying for us dog owners. The gentlemen who work up there let their dog roam off leash ALL DAY. ALL DAY the dog chases his ball into the water, causing a major fuss with our dogs who were properly leashed. So needless to say, again no privacy. This park has a lot of charm. It just didn't work for our family.

Very nice park beautifully located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. What a spectacular setting. Great base camp for all the activities.Everything is nearby: Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Custer city, attractions. Mickelson trail literally goes through the middle of the site. A lovely mountain creek flows through on the other side. Great connectivity with our hot spot. Easy walk to town for food, cocktails, dessert. Well maintained. The best shower I have seen in a year of full timing. Friendly staff. Full hookup. No problems. Only "but" is the semi-busy road that it sits on. Not busy like a city but plenty of traffic during the day.

America you're looking a little woozy. Last night we stayed in a $80/night RV park with access to a tourist town and motorcycle heaven a short reach from Sturgis. As you can imagine every rig was big and loaded with toys (nothing under 15 grand). Folks were loud, proud and full of fun and prosperity. Yet virtually every pedestrian verity park we've slept in across the west has been occupied 85% with the working poor finding what housing there is on wheels but not rolling. Generations of young folks are blissfully maturing on "lots" the size of a double parking slot. Dogs tied up to keep a watchful ear, bikes, toys, vehicles. RV rigs well past their warranty have been winterized with insulation to keep the gales of November from sinking these little "Never meant for full time" ships. America! Oh we've got trouble in every river bend flyover trailer park and outwards.Andrew Yang has it right, a thousand bucks a month in every means tested mail box would go a long ways toward a mid century post WW2 America we saw slip away when the 1980 election was stolen from a man with insight by a man with shiny teeth and a B movie provenance who's plan was to put a thousand a month into the trust funds of the aforementioned folks with toy haulers stuffed with Harleys and quads. Look at it this way Harley, you wouldn't feel a thing under Yang's plan and as you tool around America's back yard, you'd get your little convenient camp grounds back to what they were intended for, families, fun and friends. Instead of families facing foreclosure.

This is the nicest RV park!! The staff is warm and welcoming. The bathrooms and showers are exceptional. The park is clean and well maintained. It is in a great location. Close to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and all the other National Parks and Monuments in the area. You are surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest. There is the George S Mickelson Trail right next to the RV park. There is a nice bicycle rental shop next to the park and a laundromat in the next door shopping center.

We highly recommend this campground! The staff is very friendly and knows the area very well! The bathrooms make you feel like you are at home, very clean and nice big showers! My kids enjoyed playing in the creek and at the playground. Very nice place!I will say they should pick a different time to clean the bathroom than at 9 o'clock in the morning. They were closed every morning for a good hour. Hard to complain about a clean bathroom though.

This is a great place for a reasonable cost for accessing the UTV trails and the Michelson Bike Trail. I agree if you are wanting to just camp instead of play all day you probably better to find one off the road. The best part for us was meeting Glenda who help guide us to finding all the beautiful trails and helped us extend our stay so we could play everyday in this beautiful area. Thank you we totally enjoyed it.

We stayed here one night while biking on the Mikelson Trail which ran through the property. Very helpful staff, who offered us an upgraded tent site because of rain. Very clean and heated shower facility, with toiletries supplied. $25 for the night was a bargain, lower than National Forest sites with fewer facilities. About a mile from Hill City and restaurants. Dollar Store across the road.
