Hometowne Inn was just what the name says. It's old & dated, but very clean & GREAT prices. Pet friendly was a big plus for me, only $10 extra. Had a mini fridge & coffee maker in the room. I could tell the room had previously been smoked in, but not bad. AC worked well, but was a little loud.

Right next to the highway 29, but there are two exits to Elk Point, so we got a little confused as to where it was and had to ask for directions...The rooms are a little outdated, but are super clean! Cleanest rooms I've been in for a while, even the bathrooms were spic-and-span. The TV is left to wonder, but at least it has a good selection of channels.Also make sure to plug in your mini fridge when you arrive, ours was unplugged, which is probably to save electricity.

I am thankful for little hotels in small places! The people were the best part for me. I want to stop in and visit on my way back! I drive a very long route fairly often, and I can't always make the full trip. This time, I called ahead to make sure they were open. I wanted to stay in Elk Point simply because my late father's property is off of Elks Point Road and just two homes down from Elks Point (on a lake in another state). I am so glad I did! The rooms are humble and dated, but clean and well taken care of. I like the nostalgia of that. ♡ There are rocking chairs in the lobby, and I actually had a couple of great conversations there that reminded me to slow down, see people, and take a moment to get to know them. It was lovely! As for GPS directions, BE AWARE that the address does not currently navigate directly (BOTH my car and phone sent me off into fields!!) and it is immediately off the interstate with two gas stations. (If you have time for a meal, I HIGHLY recommend Spink Family Restaurant just down the street--Main Street in the little town. Ask for their burger with secret sauce and bring home a bag of their exclusive coffee roasted just for them--not available anywhere but there and at the roaster.)

Stayed the night here while on vacation passing through. Don't let the looks of the place fool you, it is so nice. Everything is very clean. Nice rooms, clean, comfortable bed. It's so quiet too, was able to get a good night's rest to get back on the road in the morning. The owner is very nice and hospitable, making sure we are satisfied with our room. We would definitely stay here again, if we are ever back this way.

Old School Hotel - a little something like out of a horror film. But was quite surprised and impressed. Check in was very simple and pain free, simply filled out the sheet with info and payed for the room. Actually received a key not a card but an actual key for the door. This has only happened once before in my lifetime and I travel a lot.TV was rather small and hard to see, actually netflixed on my tablet instead. the room was very clean and I liked their choice of towels they used in the bathroom. Nice and soft, not the stiff scratchy white ones most places use. It was a little dark in the place, I would think some updated lighting would be nice.If you're traveling thru and need a place stop on in.

I like to give credit due where it's due. This is a great little Motel. Very clean and comfortable. Totally budget friendly and conveniently located to all the amenities that you would need .The rooms are really clean good heater good channel lineup. the owners really do a good job at taking care of this place as does the manager Shirley . She is an amazing awesome person with a great personality that cares about people.A very decent mom and pop motel that I urge all folks not to pass up when passing through Elk Point South Dakota .Thumbs up to a good American run Motel. Nice,quiet, very comfortable bed, nothing to extravagant just a simple room with a mini refrigerator and mini coffee pot. With 2 gas stations right next door it's very convenient for any food or drink you might want. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful It was a WARM Cozy overnight stay. I would recommend this place over any other in the city. Thank you Hometown Inn staff a d owners for being so kind and generous!

Small town super clean, quiet, friendly, down home kinda welcoming. Second time here. I’ll be here twice a week for three more weeks. I’ll always come here. Towels and bedding smell like fresh clean laundry ❤️Eat at Flannery’s Pub. Friendly town good food. Children welcome. Right off I29. Easy on/off. Two gas/convenient stores next door and across the street. Good job. See you soon ☺️

I always like staying here it's nice and make's me feel like home very affordable. The bathroom is clean with little shampoo I enjoy the smell of. Beds soft has fridge microwave a small flat screen TV in the front desk clerk is very friendly

Basics rooms, unfriendly staff and overpriced for what it is. If you're traveling and don't want to sleep in your car, you can shell $60+t a night for this gem.Rooms: Basic. My laptop has a larger screen than the TV. Aside from the small flat screen rooms don't appear to have been updated, ever.

Stayed there recently for five nights. The rooms were dated but clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We made two special requests to housekeeping staff and they did not disappoint. Overall, a really positive experience. Thank you, Hometowne Inn!

I am having a very positive experience at the Hometowne Inn. What I love about this place is it is a nice retreat from the dismal corporate hotel chain experience. This mom & pop hotel is nestled conveniently right off I-29 and unlike other hotels right off the highway, I did not hear a peep all night long. There was not a hint of the sound of semi trucks bulldozing across the highway - nor did I hear any of my neighbors up at night. It was the first night of my long trek across county that I actually slept the night through! The hotel owners are very helpful and accommodating. I discovered today the meeting I thought was just going to be a conference call I'd handle from my phone on the road actually requires a screenshare, and it's at noon EST, an hour after checkout. When I explained to the hotel owner, she graciously offered me space in the homey hotel lobby to use hotel wifi as I participate in my conference call. If you are on a budget and want to get the best value, the Hometowne Inn is your answer. I am not fussy about decor - but I am fussy about cleanliness and the room was clean, bathroom sparkling and I felt confident about walking barefoot on the rugs. That to me is the true litmus test of cleanliness!

Awesome little gem. I travel extensively (hotels approximately 300 nights a year) and stay here everytime I come thru town. It's very clean, inexpensive, and staff are wonderful. Only complaint is no microwave in the rooms but they do have one by the vending machines in the hallway. I highly recommend staying here.

This place needs a new front desk personal so you won't drive 300 miles only to hear the older short lady up front huffing and puffing and realizing how much of an inconvenience you have caused her. Horrible approach. Whatever happened to customer service.

This is my favorite place to stay around Vermilluon area. Staff is amazing beds and pillows are great wifi works good. Theyll even do your laundry for you! When you stay here be sure to order from Ollie's! They have a 5lb pizza thatll feed an army! Love it here! It's in Elk Point!
