Beware of leaving your machine for a short break. It's common casino courtesy that if you put your chair against a machine that the machine is in play. My husband left to have a cigarette. When he came back his $100 on the machine was gone. Granted, he should have cashed out before leaving. But we thought the casino was secure. After notifying the floor supervisor, she checked the cameras and saw the person who played the machine and stole the cash. To our knowledge there was no effort to notify other casino employees of the incident so they could be on the lookout for this person. She claimed to have walked the entire very large casino in a matter of 3 to 4 minutes but didn't see the person. What did we get from the floor supervisor?? She chastised us like a child numerous times for leaving the machine. No apologies. No compensation. She didn't even take our contact information. This thief can come back and do this again because it's obvious The Lodge does NOT have their customers well being in consideration. We are locals and have NEVER been treated so poorly as we were treated today.

I can't speak on the rooms as I didn't stay at the hotel. They offer free overnight parking if you don't need a hookup. They offer electric hookup for RVs for about $55 I believe. I stayed in my SUV for the night in the back lot with the campers and had a peaceful nights rest. Very large parking lot. I enjoyed going in and getting dinner and playing some slots. I ended up winning enough to pay for the dinner, so I essentially got to eat and play for free. It was a good time. The restrooms were clean and nice. The casino stays open all night, too. Outdoor smoking section.

I have grown on this place. I used to stay on the other side of the canyon because I thought being closer to tacos would be better. Seeing big horn sheep walk by was a surprising treat. The seats in your sports book betting room are very comfortable. The lady was kind to me and checked up on me; which I was fine, but I appreciated that. I can watch from a distance vehicles driving into town. Your bathrooms are clean. Wonderful festivals are hosted here. The lady at the front desk has the precise answers, immediately. Sharp! Your rooms for guests with dogs is very thoughtful.

Quite possibly the best place we have ever stayed in our lives, better than some really nice hotels in Vegas. Stayed two nights. One night we got to have a balcony room and that was great. Beautiful view of scenery too.Rooms: big and gorgeous and clean.Nearby activities: wasn't far from a lot of great things including downtown Deadwood and waterfalls. good to have some distance from downtown.Safety: felt safe.

We stayed 3 days/3 nights here and chose The Lodge because I wanted to be away from the crowded downtown and at a place that was easily accessible, especially having my elderly parents with us. I could not have been happier with that decision. The entire property is clean, staff is great, rooms are big and really nice, two places to eat and small casino. We had 2 doors with one opening to the outside where we had a chair and an area to sit. It's secluded yet still only a few minutes drive to downtown Deadwood and close to Spearfish. We ate at the sports bar twice and I had the pizza once, which was really good. And I'm from NJ so I'm a tough pizza critic. I only wish the restaurant was open more than 2 days per week, wasn't open when we were there, and that they had an ice machine on the first floor, which is odd they don't. You won't regret staying here!

Staff was friendly, food good and the view was nice. But the rooms are overrated and overpriced. The doors don't seal up, as you can see light around the edges of both doors. You can hear everything going on in the hallway and outdoors. When I made the reservations it was for a room with a king sized bed and a balcony. When I checked in I got a room without a balcony. They said they didn't have any available. Bed was comfortable but I will never stay here again nor will I recommend this place to anyone! Very dissatisfied with what I paid for and what I got stuck with!

The room had a funny odor when we arrived but wasn't unpleasant.Saturday afternoon when I returned to the room I noticed someone had not flushed the toilet and it was not me. No biggie, I flushed it. Very spacious room!!! Will stay again.Had problems with the room key not working. Had to make two trips to check-in to get it straightened out. maintenance man corrected the problem. Being disabled, on oxygen, this was very inconvenient.Noteworthy details: NO RESTROOMS THEY WOULD LET US USE, NEAR THE CHECK IN COUNTER!!! Being on oxygen=inconvenient!

My husband and I were greeted by a nice young man when we arrived at the lodge. He put us in a wonderful room with a balcony and beautiful view. We had a large sized king room with a comfortable bed. We ended up adding on an additional night because our stay was so lovely. We loved that it was so close to all of the sites and things to do in the Black Hills. We don't have kids, but it looks like a great place for families as well. This is definitely a place that we will stay again when we are in the Black Hills area.

What a great place to stay while enjoying the scenery and adventures offered in the area. My husband and I were on a cross country road trip and planned to stay for 1 night. It was such a wonderful place we stayed another night. I had such a great time I managed to leave a bag of shoes and coats in the room. I didn't realized my error until I received a call from the lodge. By then, I was 300 miles away so the staff told me they would mail my bag to my home. I got back from my vacation and received my left items a few days later. THANK YOU!!!. I have to admit I've left items in a hotel room before but I have never gotten them back. I will definitely be back and thank all the wonderful staff for making our stay better than expected!! Only place to stay while visiting Deadwood, SD!!

I rarely ever leave reviews like this, but my experience is worth noting. I tried to setup a business conference here and it was one of the worst experiences that i have dealt with in the my professional career. I have never dealt with people that absolutely did not care about our business and had no regard for anything that we did. We had 40-50 rooms set up and had more people that would have come. Unfortunately they didnt really care. It felt like Patrick did absolutely everything in his power to not help us. In order to contact him, I would have to try and call multiple times and then send multiple emails. If and when I would get responses, I would get brief/unenthusiastic replies at best. As we were getting closer to the event, we ended up cutting ties with them, and found another more capable hotel in town that was able to get more done within a couple weeks, than the few months that I tried to setup with them. They did not try and retain us in any way or form, which was very odd. I unfortunately would not recommend doing any business here.

We've stayed here a couple times when we've needed a quick overnight. The location is nice because it's close to a lot of the surrounding small cities, but far enough away that you're not going to have to battle a bunch of traffic getting in and out. There is a shuttle down to Deadwood if that's your thing, otherwise they also have a casino in the lodge itself. Highly recommend Oggies. The food is really good, and their breakfasts are tasty. Beds are very comfortable! The only complaint I had was that the shower didn't have a wide enough spray for my taste and I couldn't change the spray setting. I felt like I kind of had to huddle in one little spot in order to get my whole body covered in water. However, that's a small complaint given the rest of the amenities and everything else. I would still definitely recommend this place.
