Located right at the start of Deadwood on the Southeastern side near the city of Lead, it was clean and comfortable. About a 30 min walk, 5 min drive to historic downtown where the majority of the casinos and attractions are located. There is a trolley that can take you downtown for about $2 which I suggest you take as it is quite the little trek. The fitness center looked great and the hot tub was HOT, perfect for a relaxing evening after a day of gambling, hiking and sightseeing around town. There is a casino at the resort and it’s connected to a restaurant. The price during the week was quite a deal but it goes up almost 3X as much on weekends which I’m sure is the norm for all the hotels in town. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again although I would probably try a different place that is closer to the main attractions next time.

I'm often on the hunt for a local getaway that marks most of my boxes. My spouse & I like to run away from home, Always looking for a getaway in the surrounding area, with a bar in the hotel, restaurant close by, a hot tub in the hotel and a jet tub in our room and this had it all! We really enjoyed our stay! I did notice alot of the light switches in our room didn't work as well as light bulbs & outlets. The hallway did appear to need vacuumed but otherwise, everything looked clean and taken care of! I loved the size of our room, and the bathroom was one I dream of in my own home! Definitely be back again!Food & drinks: Bostons pizza is right next door!

Made reservations through Expedia, room, no smoking. The whole place was supposed to be no smoking. They gave us a room above the “smoking lounge”. The room stunk if smoke and some horrible attempt to cover up the smell. I’m not sure which was worse. It was making us sick. The whole place smelled horrible. The whole place smelled dirty. We had to check out. They would not refund the cost of the room. Expedia was no help. We got screwed over big time. Not using Expedia again.Do not stay here.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in the presidential suite. The staff was extremely nice and the facility was very clean. Our room was cleaned and got fresh towels everyday on our 5 night stay. There were a few things that were unfortunate during our stay but wasn't a deal breaker. There is a surround sound system in the presidential suite that didn't work. I asked the front desk for directions just in case I was doing something wrong. They kindly gave me a a copy of the instructions. I followed the instructions step by step and it still didn't work. The first night we were there, we used their hot tub. It was nice and very clean. During the rest of our stay there, the hot tub was closed for painting which did suck because we were excited that there was one. The property was a very short drive to downtown Deadwood and there is a trolly system you can jump on for $2 a person that runs every 30 mins that can take you downtown.Their casino was really nice and clean and I did win some good amount of money during our stay.Overall, our stay there was very pleasant and would recommend this resort to anyone that plans on staying in the Black Hills.Rooms: The presidential suite we stayed in was very nice and clean. The bath was nice with a large walk-in shower and a jetted tub. The surround sound speaker system that was in it didn't work but wasn't a deal breaker.Nearby activities: Minutes from downtown Deadwood and there was a tolly system you can take for $2 a person that runs every 30 mins that will take you downtown.

The Deadwood Gulch Resort was close to Deadwood and it has a local trolley. The view against the mountain with the river was awesome. Overall for the price, made this a reasonable choice. The first issue was the coffee in the room was not very good, so we went downstairs to the kitchen, which wasn't much better, and no continental breakfast (this was very upsetting). Secondly, the room did have some small grout issues in the bathroom, the doors did not open and shut correctly (or at all), and the room was not very clean; for Wyndham quality. Finally, the water softener needs to be removed from the hotel. No need to soap up the next day, still have soap from the previous day... Staff were polite and courteous, so a descent place, just needs some repairs, turn off the water softener, coffee (K-Cups), and food..

What a gym this place turned out to be. Very polite staff, helpful as well. Their breakfast hours are short but it is Smoker Friendly place. If this place ends up with a recreational marijuana license I will be staying here a lot more. My bed was very comfortable everything worked everything was clean. Staff went the extra mile and offered to ship my items that I left in the room home which I accepted they even called me back to tell me that the items I thought I had left were not in the room. They were correct they were with me. That kind of service matters these days. They even have a smoker's Lounge I'll repeat they even have a smoker's Lounge indoors

This was the 2nd time I've stayed here I love this place just because it's a little bit more inexpensive than staying downtown. I always like going back out by the Creek which has an excellent view and a wonderful Creek we had a room to the Creek that was beautiful it's just quaint and comfortable and quite enjoyable to just sit back there and enjoy the beauty of the black hills. The casino is OK. They were under some remodeling at the time but that didn't interrupt anything that we were doing it was easy to get to the our room by elevator and the rooms were very nice and clean..

Great value. Clean, updated rooms. The hot tub is open late and very comfortable. Bartender in the lounge was nice. Front desk girl was fantastic. There is an adjoining restaurant. Casino was fun.

Nice hotel, it's not close to Main Street which you may or may not like. The Deadwood Trolley does drop off and pick up from here though. The rooms are your typical room, nothing fancy. Downsides of the room, no darkening blinds, extremely old and noisy AC/Heat window units, and very limited power outlets to use for charging your devices. Positive, shower water pressure is good but be careful, water gets out of the shower area onto the floor very easily. As for the Casino, I have never played machines that were this "tight". Holy cow, not a single jackpot sound or screaming gambler to alert you to any type of decent winnings. I honestly wouldn't play the machines here if I stay here again.

My wife and I had not stayed here in years. Most recently the reviews we saw were a little scary. the pandemic had caused a lot of issues with hotels and their ability to survive. The Gulch also struggled with ownership changes. We decided to give it a shot even with the reviews we read. We were thrilled with our stay. the rooms were as good as ever. The beds were comfortable and the room was very welcoming. The casino had a great mix of new and classic slots. The staff was attentive and pleasant at every interaction.Needless to say our gamble paid off. We had a great stay. Sure we miss the free breakfast they used to have but I guess some things change. The Gulch is still a great experience...Enjoy your stay...Remember the scenery is as beautiful as ever from the from and the back of the hotel.

Made reservations, but when checking in , they didn’t have it and charged me almost double, tried several attempts to talk with manager , and never succeeded. Rooms where outdated and smelled of stale smoke. Ac didn’t work. Light switch’s didn’t work properly, and toilet seat felt like it was going to fall off. I personally would not recommend this place, and it’s not what’s expected from Wyndham

This was a very nice place to stay, everyone was friendly. Had a few smaller rooms with slot machines enough to keep busy for an evening. There is a restaurant right next door that we are at, breakfast was reasonably priced and very good.

The rooms were extremely clean and tidy. Very spacious. The bathroom and tub/shower we're clean. The staff were courteous, polite and friendly. The location is beautiful, scenic and relaxing. The only downside is it is not in walking distance to the main drag, but I am really glad it isn't because the location is what makes Deadwood Gulch amazing.

The rooms were nice and most employees were overly helpful and kind. After sharing my dilemma returning my rental car to Spearfish 2 employees offered to follow me 15 miles and return me to Deadwood. They were Mary and Bridget! The time Bridget got off shift worked perfectly for me so I took her up on her offer. I couldn’t believe their generosity!! There was also an employee , Ashley that went above and beyond to help our group with any needs or questions.Only one employee at main casino desk, Heather, seemed outwardly unpleasant. I asked for help with my card at my machine since it was erroring over and over again. She told me it wasn’t her job but followed me. One the way I told her sorry for the inconvenience but I had pushed the service button. She snapped that those aren’t connected to anything. When we got to my machine and I tried to show her what it was doing, she snapped it out of my hand and swiped it until it worked and gave me the look of death as she turned and went back to her desk.

Used my Wyndham points for one night but was also charged for the room. I spoke the the manager twice and they said my card was credited back which it wasn't. Filed a claim with Barclays Visa and they denied it. Barclays Visa, Wyndham rewards and this hotel lost a customer. Use to come here every year for the past 6 years but I will find a better place to stay.

Stay anywhere but here. The staff is extremely rude and argumentative, they definitely are in the wrong line of work. If you are looking for a relaxing time, this is not the place you want to be. The rooms need attention badly, door frames falling off, sinks clogged for example. They advertise front door free parking and then add $25 per night to your bill without telling you and refuse to adjust the bill. This is the slum of Wyndham hotels. Very easy to understand why they have so many vacancies which is too bad as this used to be a nice place to stay.

We stayed here July 10, we arrived later in the evening and went down to the bar for a night cap about 11pm. The waitress that served us was incredibly rude. From the get go when we asked how late the bar was open to, through ordering our drinks to paying for them it was nothing but attitude and the impression that she couldn’t get rid of us fast enough.Other than the unpleasant server the hotel and the rest of the staff was pleasant and the cost of the hotel was budget friendly.

Hotel is decent. First floor, your door is in the outside to your room. The second floor rooms are inside the hotel. They have a back patio area with a creek running behind it. It’s open all night. Great place to relax with a drink. Not many slot machines, I’d say they have less than 70, great parking, and close to deadwood. I rated a 3 because the rooms could use updating.

Not as good of hotel as it was before closing. I've stayed here 20+ times over the years, prior to its closing, always been a great place to stay. Gaming tokens, free drink tokens to the bar, coupons for the restaurant at check in and a very friendly staff. All thats left is the friendly staff. No reason to stay here vs hotels downtown that offer more to their guests at the same price
