My husband and I just got back from a trip to SD and the Custer Beacon was recommended by another Saloon. We loved it so much we diverted to spend the last couple of days in Custer. This is a must. We met one of the owners Julie and she is nothing but Class! Great Music, food and entertainment. Something for everyone. Wide open space and all ages were enjoying. A refreshing stop.

One of my favorite music venues in the Black Hills. Outstanding food, chill atmosphere, and great local beer on tap.One of the best middle sized live music venues in the hills with acts every weekend along with other activities thruout the week.Definitely worth the trip.

This place might as well be the Custer, SD visitor center. We were in town (or just outside of it) for three nights and we stopped by every night for food, live music, and karaoke. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the only MUST during our entire trip in South Dakota. We did a lot: Mount Rushmore, ATVing, hiking, Deadwood, but The Beacon is what I find myself thinking about today at work. The food was really good (I got ribs) and was served from the side building after ordering from the bar. The interior venue space is large and well-designed. They have tables near the bar with pool tables and a few high-tops but the stage is surrounded by couches. I absolutely LOVED this. Coffeehouse vibes but with a prairie spin.I get the feeling that this place functions as kind of a town hall. I feel like we met a good cross-section of the town while we were there. I cannot speak highly enough of those we met here. It was truly the perfect welcome to the Black Hills. My only regret about my time in Custer is that we did not spend more time here. The bar staff was fantastic, the food was great, and the locals were friendly. The Beacon has a good mix of locals and tourists, especially in the later hours. DO NOT MISS this place. I am not sure if I will ever be back to Custer, but if I do, I hope I can stop by and have a drink. Thanks for the memories!

If you find yourself in Custer, South Dakota and are looking for decent beer and food...look no further... this is the place to be. Their beer is top shelf and I'm using the Canadian beer scale. Our meals were excellent! The staff was super friendly and courteous. And to top it off...live music!!Great experience, thank you all for the great night!!!

Completely remodeled and open for business! Custer needed a venue like this! Last year was awesome, this year will be amazing. Lots of great bands are booked already, super friendly staff and a great selection of beer and wine. Best of all it is family friendly! Definitely stop, if you're on the way through town, or if your looking for some entertainment!

The Custer Beacon is the most awesome spot in Custer for a great night out! The music venue and restaurant has got it all - great tunes, delicious food, and fantastic drinks.Owner Louis brings in some talented musicians that know how to put on a show. The venue has amazing acoustics, so you can really appreciate every song.Chef Vince is the real deal when it comes to making great food. The Salmon Salad was amazing. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were perfect, and the portion sizes were generous.Meredeth, the bartender, is awesome too. She's got mad skills when it comes to local beer knowledge and she's super friendly.Overall, the staff is amazing and made us feel right at home. We highly recommend The Custer Beacon for a fun and memorable night out!

In Custer at start and end of vac.Another bartender recommended this place. Hit it 3 times. Walked in, incredible open space with live music.A nice lady offered my wife her bar seat, turns out it was the owner. Great outside area, family friendly. Good prices, better than ok food but great vibe. Wed-Sat. ** not fancy, order your food at the bar, take a number and sit down. Bathrooms take a little getting used to

Love that we can bring our dog! Dogs are welcome and a watering bowl is put out for them. Good food! We really enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts. The sirloin was tasty as well as the burger! Great beer selection as well as wine. Not sure what to drink- you can try a sample first. Friendly place.

We had a great time here. We had the buffalo dip and the curry poutine, and they were both exceptional. Although we’re not country fans, the live country band playing created a fun atmosphere.

Pretty cool spot in an otherwise not particularly cool little town. It feels like the sort of place that would be almost like a de facto cultural center—it definitely has a lot of potential. Acoustics could be a bit better but the atmosphere and decent selection of craft beer is hard to deny.

Found the Custer Beacon when looking for karaoke after a wedding rehearsal. Easy to find with plenty of parking. With a large outdoor area, the main indoor area is comfortable, has plenty of seating, room for larger groups, and is designed for great live sound. Bartenders were quick, attentive, and friendly. I would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Custer.

Family friendly, brewery style venue. The customer service was amazing. My daughters mac and cheese was well below expectations, but one comment from us and they immediately offered to comp her meal and offered to reorder it and include a free dessert. They also have pool tables, board games, live music, and cornhole available. My kids loved it and the next time we are in Custer we will be back for sure!

The Custer Beacon is an outstanding spot that has been a highlight of my many trips to Custer over the past few years. A family-run business in a converted warehouse, the Beacon brings together a wonderful community with outstanding concerts, delicious food and a comprehensive local craft beer tap list. The food menu is always evolving and I can never get enough of the Dakota Dip sandwich, paired up with a Bruce Banner APA.It's always fun to grab a beer there--even on non-concert days--hang with friends, toss some corn hole or shoot pool. Every time I come back I'm always impressed by some of the fun updates to the space.

This is definitely one of the best places I have been ever! The service was polite and very friendly! The best part of the experience was Vince! He made sure everything was perfect, checked on us frequently, and was just a great person to interact with! 20/10 will definitely be coming back! I will leave it at that even though I could write a book on how great this place is!

I took a picture of this place to remind myself and my family visiting not to go. We didn’t have a good experience. You go up to the counter and pay for your food up front which was different. People brought their dogs in…. Not service animals. Hair and dander was everywhere. Now I’m talking about dining Inside not outside. Blah the food was nothing to write home about. Would never go back .

As with anything, put beer goggles on & it will seem great. Just released from prison? You'll feel like you had a good meal. Food quality, service & musical talent seemed like they opened up a couple of weeks ago and haven't figured it out yet.
