I usually camp when visiting the Black Hills but it's a little early in the season still. Zero complaints. Easy check in. Sharp dressed Jake at the front desk gave me an upgrade! Close to the Mickelson trail for biking/walking and right on the edge of town. Very clean rooms. The towels were clearly new. All the staff I ran into were very friendly. Room was incredibly good value.

On arrival at this hotel check in was efficient. Opening the door to our room which was at ground level we first noticed a smell.The room is a good size but the bathroom is small with the sink in the entrance hall. The carpets were not very clean and had stains.We made our way to the window to open it up to get fresh air in and try and reduce the smell. The window has a wooden rod which you pick up from the rubber seal. It is used as a safety lock. One of the window panes had a serious crack in it and there was no mosquito net covering the window and as the ground was level with the window we closed it again to stop flies and bugs getting in.On closer examination of the room the bed sheets had a stain on it and a hole in it. The wall paint was scrapped away. The shower curtain was not clean and I do not think the shower head had ever been cleaned.When I asked at reception the person on reception told me someone had broken the fly screen and that the vacuum cleaners which are use to clean the carpets do not work very well and I would just have to put up with it as there were no other rooms available.The shower curtain however was replaced.Breakfast was self service and you had to use plastic cutlery and polystyrene plates.All in all not the best experience we have had of a hotel. It reminded me more of a hostel I use to use when I was a teenager.

Had a tough time finding a place in Custer for the night we were there and they are dog friendly, while some others aren't. But the rooms are the smallest I've ever seen in a hotel/motel and we have traveled a lot. Rooms were clean though and the young man at the front desk when we arrived in the evening was very nice. Breakfast needs a serious upgrade. I know everything cost more here, but it's overpriced for sure.

Hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. Amenities in room included fridge, coffee pot, microwave, hair dryer, etc. Location good. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. Dog friendly. Pool and hot tub looked nice although we didn't use it. Good WiFi. Only complaint was no elevator so hauling luggage up flights of stairs was not pleasant and breakfast was limited and not very good.

It is pretty rare that I would give five stars to a budget motel, but this property and staff deserve it. Yes, it is a little bit older and there are a few signs of wear and tear. Not with standing, the staff was truly outstanding and gave excellent service. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioner was almost silent and worked perfectly. The Wi-Fi was excellent. There is a nice pool. About the only thing that could use some work was the breakfast. The hotel is crowded and it seemed that much of the food was gone by the time we arrived shortly before breakfast closed. One little thing that we really really appreciated was a large bin of motorcycle cleaning rags placed near the front entrance. Did I mention the staff? Our few requests were met with smiles and quick responses.

In the area of the country I come from, Super 8 Motels are just one step above a Motel 6... BUT THIS SUPER 8 IS NOT THE CASE! My room was spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable, the breakfast was surprisingly good with a variety of hot selections for the winter and bathroom was spotless as well! I travel a lot for work and this is one time I did not feel the need to pull out the flashlight to see what kind of critters were scurrying around under the furniture. HANDS DOWN, THE BEST MOTEL I HAVE STATED AT IN A VERY LONG TIME! Would definitely recommend giving them a try!

I couldn’t decide which motel to stay at it was between the Super 8 or Best Western. I’ve never stayed at a Super 8 before and was worried about staying at one. Looking at reviews Super 8 had a slightly better rating, so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad that I did. The room was clean. We booked the suite with 2 queen beds. The beds were in separate rooms and there were two tvs. The second room seemed really small with the queen bed. There’s really not much room in there, but if you want privacy it’s nice to have for a family or if you are going with another couple. AC worked great. It was kind of loud, but not a big deal. There was a dog that I could hear probably a couple rooms away that was annoying.The hotel does not have an elevator.Breakfast could have been better. They had waffles, boiled eggs, omelets, toast, biscuits and gravy.My kids enjoyed the pool. You have to get a pool card to get access to the pool from the front desk to get in. Your room key won’t work.I would stay there again. Check in was easy and staff were nice. It wasn’t too far from Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park.

We didn’t expected anything but this place is wonderful! Clean room, tidy breakfast room with good options, pool & hot tub is open during winter as well. Beautiful sunrise and hot coffee made our day :) come to Rushmore, I’ll choose here to stay again.

For the price, the bedding should be better, they need to turn up the hot water in the shower! Breakfast was average at best. Small rooms & very small bathroom. It needs a makeover.Walkability: Close to restaurants & shops

I’ve stayed at this hotel a couple of times. This time was a very nice trip! My only complaint is the pool burned our eyes and skin (3 young adults) but otherwise it was nice! I also lost my wallet and the workers at the front desk tried to help me find it.. unfortunately I didn’t have much time to look due to having to go back to work, but they called when we were about half way home saying they found it wrapped up in the sheets (I always strip the beds to try and help the housekeepers), and they will mail it out to me. Very nice staff, and the room was amazing. SUPER comfortable beds too. Most hotel beds are hard for me to sleep on but I had no issues with these beds. They also gave us extra pillows.

This place is my preferred place to stay in Custer. Amazing service and house keeping. The pool was heated and the hot tub was super warm. Absolutely amazing staff. We had a glitch with our reservation and they corrected it instantly with no fuses or complaints. I highly recommend it. I will most certainly stay here next time I'm in Custer.

Wasn't told that the pool was out of order when I called that morning before we arrived, the room was very small, and smelled like fish, and the housekeeping did minimal cleaning each day. The desk staff was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had warm water, even with a full hotel. The staff gave great info of things around the area.

We stayed here one night and thankful it was only one night. The room was stuffy and stale smelling. The guy working the front desk was not friendly at all. The kids tried to go swimming but as soon as they got in the pool they complained of there skin burning. We asked the guy at the front desk when the chlorine was checked last. He said he would call his manager and told us no one else complained about it that day. There were 6 adults sitting in the hot tub who also said there eyes were burning from the chlorine. The guy at the desk was very rude when we told him the other people in the hottub just complained about there eyes burning. So we were the only ones who brought it to there attention. I would not recommend this place to anyone! There are a couple nicer hotels next door I would consider over this one!

The hotel overall was nice. They have a hot tub and pool, clean rooms with large tv, fridge, etc. The employee jake made us feel very uncomfortable. He kept staring at us through the window while we were in the hot tub like a creep. We were just trying to enjoy the amenities provided by the hotel & he made us feel very uncomfortable & also was very rude. We will not stay here again soley due to this employee

This is an older motel but well kept, clean, and friendly. The rooms are well maintained and quiet. The pool was indoor and heated which was very relaxing.. We stayed there for 3 days and would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a very brief overnight stay. Upon check in the person working was so very helpful offering tips for the best time to leave and where to enter Custer State Park for the Buffalo Roundup. So very appreciated!Everything appeared clean. Our only complaint was the odor of urine in the bathroom.Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Outstanding.... Definitely will return to this hotel. Completely enjoyed our stay. The staff and services were outstanding and friendly. Our first day we had a drain problem and within 10 minutes of notifying the staff it was fixed. The breakfast was very good and a lot. Many thanks for making our stay very pleasant and enjoyable....

We stayed here while in Custer because the parking lot accommodated our trailer. The prices were very good as well( 2 bedroom unit for $91 a night). I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised with what we got for the money. There are no elevators,but it is only 2 floors. The pool area was decent, as was the continental breakfast. I wouldn't have a problem staying here in the future.
