Absolutely the best staff. Accommodating doesn't even begin to describe the service. Melinda, (or April, I'm sorry to say I didn't ask her name) and the staff went above and beyond to get us checked in, make sure our room was satisfactory, and to attend to any need or question we had. Everyone was so friendly. We stayed 4 days and were appreciative of the clean room. No underlying odors, only a fresh clean room in every way, including a sparkling clean shower/ bathtub. If I return to this area next year I won't hesitate to call and reserve a room again. The nicest place for the value! And the price was perfect as well. I've stayed in places for a lot more money that weren't nearly as clean and nice.Rooms: Perfect for our 4 day stay. Clean, and a wet bar area with dishcloths to use. Included a microwave and mini fridge that kept out snacks and beverages cold.Walkability: Very close to downtown bars and restaurants. A quaint little ice cream shop half a bock away.Noteworthy details: I can't say enough good about the staff! Incredible. In today's world it was refreshing to walk into a place where the staff had a great work ethic!

Very disappointed, upon arrival to our cabin we pulled the blankets back to reveal a yellow urine stained mattress with bugs and bug body parts smashed all over the sheets and mattress itself. Nothing had been changed since the last guests. After we complained about the dirty mattress and bed they only refunded us for 2 of the 3 nights we paid for ahead of time. On top of that the place seems very run down and the view isn't great. You are very close to all the neighboring cabins. Definitely not work the price per night.

Nice cabins located in Custer. We had a cabin that could sleep 6 easily, but there is only 1 bathroom.Nice to be able to cook in the cabin as well. It allows a break from going out for every meal.

I forgot to review this place when we stayed in 2019, but I remember it so fondly that I decided to come back and review it now. We stayed in the largest cabin. It had two large bedrooms and a loft. With family of 8, there was plenty of room. Then my in-laws decided to spontaneously come with us! Still plenty of space for everyone and a great master bedroom where they could keep to themselves a bit more and not run into everyone sharing a bathroom. The hot tub on the back porch was perfect and well-maintained. There is a small creek that flows right past you and you can hear the water spill over rocks. The kitchen was well equipped, the scenery was magical, and the main street of Custer was within walking distance. Also, they had a great breakfast, which made getting going in the morning so much easier. Breakfast was also a great time to talk to other explorers and get ideas for the day. Custer itself has great access to everything in Custer park and the black Hills along with being close to Jewel Cave. I cannot recommend Rock Crest Lodge and Cabins highly enough for your base camp.

We stayed 4 days while exploring this beautiful part of the country. The Inn is EVERYTHING they advertise it is-quiet, VERY clean (including the pool), accommodating staff, close to everything including great restaurants in Custer. The one bedroom deluxe suite gave us two rooms and was perfect for traveling with a dog and an 8 year.

We found a room with a queen bed last minute for $190. There’s free EV charging, which was excellent for us. The room is small but there is a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, and sink. The water pressure in the shower is great. There were some bugs in our room but it didn’t bother us too much. You can get a grab-and-go breakfast with yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, juices, and coffee in the lobby.

Positives: The room is very clean. There is a separate sleeping space. Walking distance to downtown. Gas station across the streetCons: This isn’t a lodge. This is a motel with some ‘cabins’ behind it on a major road. I didn’t research this place as I was directed here after being toldBy custer they were full. Our room smelled like carpets that haven’t dried. It is what it is. Served a purpose. Not really sure what is nicer in this area so this might be as good as it gets.

Right on the main drag in Custer (NOT Custer State Park). So not terribly quiet, or not terribly cabiny except for the rustic wood look. Also, the pool and hot tub were not operating in mid Sept. If u want to stay in town go for it but if you want nature this isn’t it.

We enjoyed this place! It was very cool being able to stay in a cabin while so close to town. The breakfast was nothing fancy, but it will do for people who need to keep moving. The pool was a nice and clean and was not noticable from the road. Where the cabins are located they are out of the way and there are wildlife there. As I said we really enjoyed the place and would definitely stay there again!

Small clean room. But expensive for what it is - though I suppose the area is expensive because of the tourist attractions nearby. On a main road but set back. Noise was minimal as there appeared to be very little traffic. Great view of the petrol station next door. But for us, it was a place to sleep for a night. Beware of visiting in May, a lot of the restaurants shut at 8:00

So glad we stayed here! When first booking here we thought it was a little pricey. But we really enjoyed the privacy, and the cabin was worth the price. It was clean and comfortable. We needed a pet friendly place, and having a private deck was perfect for relaxing with our dog. Would stay here again. Staff was friendly too.

Great place for families! Clean and comfortable cabins in a gorgeous setting. Clean pool and hot tub, too. We traveled in July of 2018 and were very happy with our experience here. Very friendly staff and travellers from all over the world. Makes the continental breakfast interesting to hear all of the different languages being spoken. My 12 year old boys loved it here and the pool was kept open later for us on our last night out of kindness from the amazing staff. Very convenient location in the Black Hills of South Dakota close to Crazy Horse, Mt.Rushmore, Badlands and all of the Black Hills attractions. Custer is an excellent town. Unique Shopping, Good food (except for the place famous for their "Buns" :-0 ) I would certainly stay here again.

Got the job done but huge upset .....not worth the $300/night! Especially room 121. Don't do it your view is a gas station and casino not of the black hills. you're right at street level in the middle of town in Custer. If your looking for jaw dropping views not the place to go, but if you're looking for convenience then ok but still not worth the $300. Maybe $100-120/night not a dime more!! No playground, hot tub and pool wasn't opened/ready for customers. Lot of promises on website with little follow through. They did compensate but not nearly enough for the huge disappointment especially when you have to drive half a day or more to get there.

After a long, fabulous day in and around Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park, we were able to unwind and enjoy our evening at your quaint, lovely cabins on the bluff. My kids loved running around the grounds and my dog felt like she was at home:). The cabin was well appointed and gave us that special at home feeling that you cannot get from a hotel room. I would certainly stay here again and to boot the location is great and the staff so friendly!!!!

We had booked our room online and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The property was easy to find and the grounds were well kept. Patti greeted us in the office and was super helpful when I asked for dinner recommendations. The room was exceptionally clean and included a small kitchenette. We visited the pool and hot tub which were also well kept. Continental breakfast is served in the morning. I would definitely recommend Rock Crest Lodge!

walking distance from downtown Custer Centrally located nearby gas station dollar store several places to eat and things to see our cabin was spacious clean, The kids had room to be kids and the cabin had anything and everything that we could need quiet beautiful deck and views comfortable bedding and furniture. Well thought out use of the trees and wildlife hiking around back of the cabin. swimming pool that the kids could play in with hotel pool noodles. And In addition to places in town that offer a discount when you stay at rock crest Hotel also offered offered to go breakfast items. We stayed an extra night it was so nice the hot water was endless in the shower and the Little gift shop in the lobby sells children’s toys and small gifts.

This place is sooo nice! We rented the French Creek cabin which actually has a little creek flowing through the backyard. It sleeps up to eight people. The loft has 2 beds. The couch in the living room folds out to a bed. There are 2 bedrooms with a queen bed in each. One has an attached bathroom and the other bathroom is in the hallway between the 2 bedrooms. The bathrooms even have heated floors in them. It has all the linens and utensils provided even extra towels for the hot tub.

So if you are going to visit Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse I would definitely stay here. The cabins are quaint, spacious and quiet. The town of Custer is a little more chill than some of the surrounding more touristy places. It’s right next to the state park and great way to explore the black hills and It has nice restaurants in the quaint town . It was our first time to that area and we were definitely happy we chose Custer and the cabins. The staff was very friendly!

We stayed in a cabin recently at Rock Crest and were very happy with the accommodations. 5 stars for cleanliness! The pool was a definite plus for us after being at Custer State park all day. The only hiccup we had was when we tried to check in at about 6 PM.. the office was locked and there was a note that the office mgr would be back in 20 minutes. The staff was very friendly, but I didn't care for having to wait to check in. I would still highly recommend.

We stayed here 05/25/2019 to 05/26/2019 in a family suite. I have to say we were very disappointed to say the least. The place is visibly run down. This is contrary to what the pictures show. When we saw the property, we were very shocked. Inside the cabin, the place stunk. The couches were filthy and the carpet was really dirty. We had to open windows to air the place since it also smelled like stale cigarette smoke. We asked for a transfer but was told that all the other cabins were full- I guess because it was memorial weekend.I hope the cabin we stayed in was not reflective of the other cabins.

Very nice room, stayed 2 nights and they did not make beds. Unless your in cabins your view is the road and traffic, but to be fair, most lodging seems to be this way. Ask for back of hotel. Pool was already closed in mid September even though still warm.
