My husband and I stopped for dinner at Purple Pie Place and had a wonderful experience. I had the Italian panini and my husband had the chicken salad sandwich. Both meals were fresh, delicious, and generous portions. (My husband especially loved the nice, big chunks of chicken in the chicken salad sandwich.) Of course we had to have pie for dessert. I chose cherry and my husband had the peanut butter. We both agreed they were among the best pies we'd ever had. The service was excellent as well. We can't wait to return next time we are in the beautiful Black Hills.

Beautiful place! Really nice atmosphere. The food was fine, I’d say the chicken pot pie was definitely the best and there’s a reason it’s their specialty! The pie we were served was very stiff because it must have been in the freezer and not defrosted fully. Like, we had to really use force to get our forks to penetrate/slice it. The ice cream was good too!

It is a nice place to stop and get a piece of pie & ice cream. Definitely recommend both! Strawberry Rhubarb was delicious! We bought a whole pie to bring home. Ice cream was great, too! The food was so so. Chicken pot pie was okay. The panini needed more flavor and looked like the panini was just a hot dog bun toasted. I would go back just fot the desserts!

Good food. We had two pieces of pie and had shepherds pie for dinner. Everything was very good. They closed a little early considering it was summer. They were trying to rush everyone along so they could close. Seemed like summer would be a good time to be open as long as people are coming in for ice cream and pie.

Absolutely wonderful. We both had chicken pot pie for dinner and it was pretty good, a great chicken pot pie and a great portion size. Probably the best thing on the dinner menu as it's their specialty. The real star of the night was the dessert. Strawberry rhubarb pie and vanilla ice cream for my friend, bumbleberry and vanilla for me. Absolutely delectable, genuinely brought a tear to my eye. I am a better person for having eaten this pie. Thank you Purple Pie Place!

We LOVE this place ❤️ Always delicious! Our go to is the strawberry rhubarb. Typically cream pies are always sold out when we come but luckily the chocolate cream pie was available and it did not disappoint! Friendly staff, not overly nice but it's comfortable and the pie is actually homemade!

Great little spot for lunch and ice cream or pie or both. Truly a unique ice cream shape on your cone or dish! They use Kemp's ice cream if you enjoy those flavors! (Super good btw)

Brynn was our server. She was polite and courteous to us and other patrons. I had a hot ham and cheese and the husband had a turkey panini with a side of jalapeño ranch. I highly recommend that for dipping or spreading on your sandwich. It was flavorful, without being too spicy. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. We'll definitely be back for dessert and another meal.

We had lunch and dessert. The chicken pot pie had a non-traditional presentation (it was more like a chicken stew with crust mixed in) but it was delicious. The French Dip sandwich was completely average. We tried both the cherry and peach pies ala mode. The pie crust was obviously home made and was very good but the filling for both pies seemed out of a can. The vanilla ice cream was neither creamy nor particularly flavorful.

Have a hankering for pie? Pull up to the Purple Pie Palace for freshly prepared pies pleasing to the palate. A scoop of ice cream with pie or ‘ala mode’ if you’re fancy makes for a perfect pause in Custer. So good! Like the ones your matriarch used to make. 🥧

BEST pie and fantastic ice cream! We enjoyed the peach pie and peachy keen ice cream as well as the blueberry pie and huckleberry ice cream. Neither disappointed. The pie crust is substantial (which I adore!) and the fruit is perfection. The blueberry pie was probably the best. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this sassy, sweet stop.

Visited the Purple Pie Place for a sweet treat on 6/6/23 while vacationing in the Black Hills. The place seemed pretty busy for the middle of the afternoon, but the line moved quickly under the efficiency of the staff, and we were quickly enjoying our snack! There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. My husband had the strawberry rhubarb pie and three scoops of ice cream while I had the bumbleberry pie and a scoop of huckleberry ice cream. The crust on the pies was flaky with the perfect balance of crispy and soft. The pie fillings paired wonderfully with the crust. Both pies and the ice cream were so delicious! Highly recommend!

So this is our first time to visit purple pie place, and we enjoyed it. My partner and I shared the French dip. The roast beef on the sandwich is tender and very tasty. It comes with a bag of potato chips so that's what the one star was removed for. If I could give it a 4.5 I would have, because the pies are pretty great. We had a slice of peanut butter pie and the cream pie of the day was coconut. The peanut butter pie was served a little too cold (almost right out of the freezer) but it has a great flavor and the crust is flaky and not soggy at all. It was an all round really good pie. The coconut cream has the same great crust, and what could be described as an above average filling. All in all you will not be disappointed, 4-4.5 stars. By the way, the service was great, waitress was very friendly!

This restaurant has a lighthearted atmosphere and a nice menu featuring pies. I liked the chicken pot pie and my wife enjoyed a chicken salad sandwich. We followed up with pieces of cherry and bumbleberry (assorted fruit) pie, both very good.

We loved it! The building is unique and eye catching. My Apple pie was served warm with Vanilla Ice Cream. Good to the last bite. It was obvious the crust was homemade and very tasty. My hubby had peanut butter pie. Also delicious but partly frozen.A nice experience in Custer SD.

The best pie I've ever had! We stopped here looking for some desert with our lunch and the blueberry pie blew us away! It was fresh, just the right amount of tart and sweet, and full of berries. The mixed berry pie was also very good. It was so good we stopped in the next day for lunch. The buffalo pot pie was excellent. We liked the pie so much we bought a full blueberry pie to take back to the hotel with us and had a slice each day for 4 more days and it still tasted pretty good after 4 days!If you are ever in Custer, this is a must visit.

Purple Pie Place.. A most peculiar and unique name for a most peculiar and unique place! My parents just raved about Triple P, saying how when we lived in the area they came here a lot, and it’s a perfect refreshment/ dessert stop while wandering through the black hills and visiting some of the other attractions very close by.As the name may suggest, the main product sold here is PIE, how about that! They had a lot of flavors available, as well as ice cream, which they always ask if you want with your pie when you order. I tried the Bumbleberry pie, which had a mix of a few different berries, and it was most delightful. Definitely worthy of a place known for pie. Not the best I’ve ever had but it qualifies for the respect list. We also ordered the chicken pot pies that they were selling that day and those were pretty fantastic. Hot enough to burn your tongue to a crisp (they were seriously so hot it was dangerous) but super good nonetheless.Purple Pie Place is located in Custer, which is a very small town but has a few cute touristy shops just down the street to walk around and see, and it’s a fun, short stop that you should for sure take! (Side note: I’m pretty sure they also have a bathroom if that’s part of a needed stop)

Every time we drive by the Purple Pie Place, the line is out the door, into the parking lot. We were happy to find a lull in the crowd today and stopped by. We tried the Peanut Butter Pie with Vanilla Bean ice cream and Raspberry Rhubarb with Huckleberry I’ve cream. They were both very good and a nice afternoon treat. 😊

It was a kind of a long wait for our food, but considering how busy they always are I guess that is to be expected. The food was all delicious, and the pie!!! Yum. I got the strawberry rhubarb and it was divine. Worth the wait. Friendly service and clean with fun purple decor.

The pot pie was delicious. I was pretty hungover so I was struggling that day and was unable to eat it all, but under normal circumstances I'd probably have scarfed it down and ordered a second or maybe a piece of pie.Incredibly friendly owner and staff. Good vibes all around. The only downside is that it seemed to bring a lot of social media people that were taking lots of video and photos, which I'm not very keen on being in, but that isn't their fault. I should sat in the back.Either way, good vibes. If I ever go back I'll make sure to go without a hangover so I can properly enjoy it.

We were so excited to try this place based on loving pie, it being unique looking, and having Huckleberry ice cream. We were all a little disappointed. The pies were not bad, just nothing to write home about, portions are small, and the ice cream was not even close to the best we had on the trip.

It was OK. The pot pie needs some seasoning or herbs or something. Chicken and the crust were tough. The bbq sandwich was too sweet for my husband. Just like every other place around they’re short staffed. The one girl who did wait on the dining room was stretched way too thin. Better get what you need or want t before she leaves because you won’t see her again for a while. We were going to order pie but by the time the poor server got to come back to the table we were over it.

Cute ice cream shop and worth the stop! If you're looking for a stop to get some sweets this is the place. Ice cream, shakes and pie are all worth trying. My wife and I tried the malt with some of their espresso fudge almond ice cream and it was fantastic. Great ice cream taste, nice malty shake and it was quite large. Our friends got death by chocolate ice cream on top of a big, warm cookie. It was also fantastic. Decent parking just off of mainstreet, the building is purple and pink so you can't miss it!

Wonderful dessert stop! Went twice, exceptional both times. We tried the peanut butter pie, coconut creme pie, strawberry-rhubarb pie, and the bumbleberry pie. Nothing imitation about it, all fresh and homemade. Don't let the line intimidate you, it is WORTH the wait!!!

We were there just before 3pm on a Sunday and they were very busy, 2 gals behind counter scooping ice-cream and one waitress handling all the table service. Their AC was on but it was hard to tell with all the bodies packed in like sardines and the entry door constantly being opened and closed, opened and closed. Our sandwiches weren't bad, but nothing to write home about, either. And the price charged for each is pretty ridiculous, considering your only side is a measly little bag of plain potato chips. You can get soup and/or salad too, but its not automatically included so you're paying full menu price for that, as well. The pie, however, totally rocks and is worth the $$ that they charge! My advice is, eat lunch elsewhere and then hit this place for dessert.
